Plant Chat: Natural Houseplant Insect Management || Mealybugs Are Back!
First off I want to appologize for the video quality, my vlog camera needs some work done!
Indoor pest management with our plants can be a struggle sometimes. Many people, myself included do not want to use harsh chemicals on their plants to kill off insects. Indoors Mealybugs, Aphids, Spider Mites, Gnats ( fungus gnats ) White Fly and Scale are all common plant pest. To control insects on houseplants there are several methods and options, in this video I'm discussing what I do and will be doing to control nuisance insects. Neem oil, peppermint oil and isopropyl work great topically and for spot treatments. Neem oil does have a lasting effect but needs to be used before the onset of an infestation. I am going to be using lacewings to help control the mealybugs, the larvae known as Soldier Beetles have incredible appetites and will eat lots of mealybugs. As long as they have food available they will stay on the plants and stick around.
