Furman and Princeton delivered upsets in the first games of March Madness, sending some of the top-ranked teams home.
One of the most exciting days in sports.
The first round of March Madness has already stunned fans with some bracket-busting upsets.
Will Rebus here to break it all down.
How's your bracket doing?
Oh, terrible.
And I hope that, I mean, I think we're all in the same boat together.
I guess we should have seen it coming though, Michael.
Good morning.
The third year in a row, a 15 seed has beaten a two seed, but how could you predict that?
Or really, any of it?
We're one day into the NCAA tournament and it's chaos.
Everyone's bracket, mine included, and yours included, is in shambles.
March Madness is living up to its name and reputation.
With just two minutes remaining, the 15 seed Princeton Tigers grabbed their first lead
of the game.
The Arizona fans can barely watch.
And never looked back, exploding for nine points in a row, stunning the second seed
University of Arizona for the biggest upset of the first day of the NCAA tournament.
Into round two, two seed Wildcats.
Princeton hadn't made it past the first round since 1998.
That win marks just the 11th time in tournament history, but the third straight year that
a 15 seed has upset a number two seed.
13th seed Furman, the small school from South Carolina joining the upset train.
Shocking three seed UVA, JP Peguese draining this winning three pointer with just four
seconds remaining to give the Paladins a one point win.
Elsewhere on day one, things proceeding a bit more predictably.
One seed's Alabama, and Houston taking care of business, as well as Kansas beating Howard.
On the women's side, a buzzer beater shocker.
Jayla Everett's bucket in the final seconds, putting 11 seed St. John's over 6 seed Purdue.
So the NCAA ran the numbers, and there are fewer than 800 perfect brackets still intact
out of the tens of millions of official brackets on the major online pools and all that.
Last year, there were fewer than 200 after the first day.
By the way, the women's tournament, which we're so excited about, the first round tips
off this morning on ESPN, all the networks and the ESPN app.
It's the best time of year, and it can be really demoralizing.
If you think you know what you're talking about, you get proven wrong pretty quickly.
It's actually surprising you said 800.
I know, 800 feels like a big number.
I bet we'll be even further down today after the second day of the first round.
Well, I'm not one of the 800, I can tell you that.
George?
That would be amazing.
That should be like a career change for you.
George's like, yeah, I'm still perfect.
You should go run basketball.
Slip it in there, right?
Thank you, Will.
