Good morning again. Everything happened really fast when we left Tallyon this morning.
We were not expecting to be in Fethiye this quickly. We thought we had a couple hour layover
in Artaca. Anyways, it all moved very quick. We couldn't get cameras set up fast enough for this
whole trip. The buses were packed getting here, but we have made it to Fethiye. We are sitting
along the waterfront harbor right now and we're going to show you a little bit around here.
So we'll see how it goes. So we're just walking along the harbor front now. We have an idea of
where we want to go. Yet another town in Turkey that you just instantly fall in love with. This
place is pretty cool. So we are standing in front of the tomb of Amintas. So where the city of
Fethiye is right now used to be a Greek city in the province of Lycia called Telmesos. They know
this is the tomb of Amintas because there is an inscription on the side, but they're still not
actually sure who Amintas was. So the tombs back behind me would have been carved in 350 BCE and
apparently they're larger inside than any of the other Lycian tombs they've found to date. How
crazy is that that every city we come to in Turkey this is what we're running into. So we thought
that was going to be it as we were walking through checking out the Lycian rock tombs and we
walked further up the hill. That's why I'm a little bit out of breath and here we go again.
Why do all the coolest things to look at have to be uphill?
So what I was standing in front of before that I said was the tomb of Amintas. I think I was
wrong about that. We walked a little bit further. We found this other one which I'm pretty sure
is the tomb of Amintas. Okay so earlier I was telling you that the tomb of Amintas is one of
the largest ones they found. My perspective is way off because I expected this to be a lot bigger
than it actually is inside. We're going to show you what the inside of this looks like right now.
This is the Lycian sarcophagus. It was built around the same time as the tombs up there
around 350 BC. Unlike a lot of cultures the Lycians didn't mind burying their dead right
in the middle of the town and you'll see a lot of these sarcophagi scattered throughout the city.
And this is apparently one of the best preserved of the sarcophaguses. Sarcophagi here in Fethiye.
They've actually built the Fethiye city hall right around it and it's decorated on the top
with soldiers in battle. All right so we're just stopping for a quick break right now on a park
bench right in town hall here. We are going to go try and find ourselves something to eat and
check into the hotel. We have been traveling all day. We ate nothing but a yogurt this morning.
We are starving. We have sat here at this place called Aylem Cafe right by the ocean so we thought
we'd have some seafood fish and chips and fried mussels coming up. We got these beautiful fried
mussels to start with. I'm going to dip it in some of this sauce they give me.
Looks like tartar sauce. Let's give it a shot. It just came out. I bet they're super hot.
Really crunchy batter. Really juicy mussels. This is fantastic. Okay when we sat down here I was not
gonna appear on camera at all for this because I'm so awkward during a food scene. I'm
awkward at the best of times let alone during a food scene. I hate doing these food scene things
but I've taken a bite of this fish and chips and I am telling you quite honestly it's the best fish
and chips I've ever had in my entire life here in Fethiye Turkey. This place is awesome. Oh man
that is so good. Hello my name is Mesut. This place is Aylem Cafe fish and chips shop.
Best fish and chips in Fethiye. So we're just walking back down the waterfront now. We are
gonna finally go check in at a hotel. Gonna have a little bit of a rest and then we're gonna head
back out later on. A little bit of rest. We are up. We're moving. Oddly enough when we last spoke with
you we had just eaten. We're gonna go eat again. We had a very highly rated restaurant that we were
trying to get to and we showed up and it is 100% closed. Directly across the alley from that one
we did a quick google search and directly across the alley turns out there's a
Turkish burger place here that has amazing reviews so we're gonna give this a shot.
So we are leaving dinner right now. It was a really cute place. The staff were excellent.
We didn't show you the food because quite frankly it's a burger. It was a really tasty burger
but a burger nonetheless. You all know what that looks like. So we're finishing off our night by
having a walk along this adorable little seaside promenade they have here in Fethiye.
Lined with little cafes and restaurants and because it's off season right now
it feels like it's really local. Just a bunch of the local Fethiye citizens enjoying their
their evening. It's gorgeous outside. 26 degrees in November so may as well enjoy it while it lasts.
All right so we're gonna close this one off right here. It's been a long day. We've done a lot of
and eating. We've eaten a lot today. So if you would like leave a comment down below
and don't forget to like and subscribe. See what happens next.
