The Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth expressway is a proposed 6-lane expressway that will connect the city of Nagpur in the state of Maharashtra to the state of Goa in India. The expressway will cover a distance of approximately 760 kilometers and will pass through 12 districts and towns in Maharashtra and Goa.
Shaktipeeth Expressway is a multi-lane expressway that is constructed to reduce the distance between these Nagpur and Goa. Last year, the chief minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis announced plans to establish smooth road connectivity between Nagpur and Goa. Further, after the success of the Samruddhi Expressway between Nagpur and Mumbai, Maharashtra has announced a Greenfield Expressway between Nagpur and Goa called Shaktipeeth Expressway and it will be longer than Samruddhi Expressway (Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway).
Technically, Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth Expressway will start from Paunar, Wardha district, and end near Patradevi (Near the border of Maharashtra-Goa). Mostly, it will cover western Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha, Kokan Districts. This expressway will connect many religious places and because of this, it has been named Shaktipeeth Expressway.
This expressway will cover 3 Shakti Peethas in Maharashtra:
Tuljapur Bhavani of Tuljapur
Ambabai of Kolhapur
Renukamata of Mahur
The Route of Shaktipeeth Expressway will pass through 12 districts:
Nagpur,Wardha,Yavatmal,Hingoli,Nanded,Parbhani,Latur,Beed,Osmanabad,
Solapur,Kolhapur, Sindhudurg
This expressway covers different religious pilgrimage centers like. Sevagram Ashram, Karanja Lad, Mahur Devi, Aundhya Nagnath Temple, Nanded Gurudwara, Parli Vaijnath, Ambajogaichi Yogeshwari, Laturcha Siddheshwar, Pandharpur, Tuljapur, Akkalkot, Mangalvedha, Narsobachi Wadi, Mahalakshmi, Kunakeshwar and Patradevi.
The proposed Nagpur Goa Expressway is a massive infrastructure project that is expected to transform transportation and connectivity between the two cities. The ambitious project, which is estimated to cost around Rs 75,000 crore.
The government has invited tenders for DPR of this project once all the bids have been received, a consultant will be appointed to oversee the project. The construction work will begin after the finalization of tenders and the appointment of a consultant. The consultant will preapre DPR in 1-1.5 yeras, then tendering process will start. The work will beging after the completion of land acquisition. The project will require 5 to 7 years to complete.
The project is expected to take around five to seven years to complete, and travelers can expect to use the expressway from 2028-29.
