It is the time of year in my garden to start prepping the plants for their move into my grow space when the frost arrives. Over the next couple of weeks this will likely be the focus of my vlogs. I am prepping my houseplants and tropical plants and succulents by cleaning out their pots. First, I remove any annuals to allow better air flow around the main plants and to reduce the presence of pest like, mealybugs, white fly, aphids, scale, earwigs etc. I then prune off any undesirable foliage. “Undesirable,” meaning any leaves that are yellowing, browning, heavily spotted, hosting insects etc. For this video I just focused on the Chinese fan palm and my variegated Mandevilla vine. With the Chinese fan palm, I could have left the begonia and crotons all together but I prefer them all separate since I find growing these plant indoors to be require different conditions, whereas outdoors they have more versatility. Next week I will be working with my Alocasias, cordylines, stromanthe, monsteras and orchids. That’s the plan anyway. I have had request for a tour of my houseplants, that is hard to do right now with my houseplants all being intertwined with my landscaping. The next couple of weeks with the houseplant cleanup should give somewhat of a better look at my houseplants though. I will try and remember to spotlight my more rare and some of my variegated plants in the process since that seems to be what people are asking to see. 😊 I also showed off a few of my fall and Halloween decorations that I’m just starting to bring out for the season. Lastly, I spent the bulk of this vlog talking about the #PlantyKindessProject created by Pammy’s Planty Things, here on YouTube. I started off by saying I wasn’t going to talk about the trolls online because we’ve discussed that on my channel before, then I spent a long time talking about the trolls and haters online. LOL! I tried to stay in the realm of talking about haters and rude people from the perspective of the creator and how I tend to deal with it all, as well as how I’m effected by it. The most important thing to me is to maintain a safe and positive environment here on YouTube where everyone is comfortable being themselves. Thank you to everyone for being so kind and supportive! Oh! I told some of you I would do a video on when I know to move my houseplants and tropical plants indoors, I realized I’ve already done a video on the topic, I’ll link it below and put it at the end of the video.
