Alongside the general admiration for Messi and Mbappé's performance in the World Cup final,
we can't ignore the fact that the relationship between these two superstars is far from perfect.
And since now they'll have to play for PSG together, a scandal might break out at any moment.
And right now we'll analyze why Messi and Mbappé hate each other and what this could lead to.
Let's go!
The first suspicions about the tension in the relationship between Messi and Mbappé
began to appear in September,
when we witnessed Kylian pushing Leo with his shoulder in one of the episodes.
Later, Sergio Ramos did the same to Mbappé during training,
allegedly showing the young player that seniors should be respected.
This story died down a little later, maybe because everyone was tired of talking about it,
or maybe because Mbappé gave another reason for the hype
by declaring his desire to leave PSG as soon as possible.
But here came the World Cup, its final,
and we've got a lot of new evidence about not-too-pleasant relationship between the two stars.
So, here it goes.
During the final, we saw how Messi and Mbappé spectacularly celebrated goals in front of each
other. Leo did it first after scoring a penalty, having waved his fist in front of Kylian.
And when Mbappé coalesced late in a second half, he responded in kind.
It's obvious that teammates who have a normal relationship
don't act like that in matches against each other.
Check out this footage of Messi vs Suárez or Messi vs Neymar.
Absolutely different vibe.
The same can be said about the confrontation between Mbappé and Hakimi at the same World Cup.
It should be noted that in the media, Mbappé and Messi speak about each other quite positively.
But such statements should be taken with some skepticism.
Here's what Kylian said about Messi after they became teammates.
He's the best player in the world. I hope he will help us in the future.
And earlier he said, my idol is Cristiano Ronaldo.
And he said that before becoming teammates with Messi.
So he said that without any pressure, and therefore, it's more believable.
Besides, we all remember this childhood photo of Kylian.
And by the way the Frenchman interacts with Cristiano, you can see that he admires him.
Moreover, prior to the World Cup final,
a piece was published in which Mbappé's former teammate, Abdou Diallo,
said that Kylian in private conversations didn't hide who was the real GOAT for him.
Diallo insists that Mbappé believes the Portuguese veteran
is untouchable when it comes to talking about the GOAT.
And he would argue it for at least an hour if anyone tried to claim Messi is better.
Therefore, speaking in public space is only the words that are necessary in order not to lose face.
All of Kylian's actions indicate that he would like to be the number one star at PSG.
And the presence of Liam Messi there makes it unlikely,
especially after Argentina beat France in the World Cup final.
The fact that Mbappé has that kind of ambitions is confirmed by the situation with Neymar.
According to numerous media, including the reputable ESPN, Mbappé agreed to extend the
contract with PSG after receiving a promise that Neymar would be sold.
That would allow the Frenchman to rise a step higher in the stardom hierarchy.
And Kylian's recent rebellion with the desire to leave the club was also related to the fact
that PSG did not fulfill their promise.
Moreover, Mbappé wasn't happy with how Messi's influence in the locker room had grown over time
and that this influence was close to what the Argentine had at Barcelona.
We already mentioned the incident between Messi and Mbappé related to the GOAT celebration,
but we can add one more thing here.
The fact is that after the match, Mbappé did not come to congratulate Messi on the victory.
And Messi did not come to support Mbappé.
They crossed paths just 15 minutes after the match,
before they were both due to be presented with their individual awards.
It all ended with just a short hug.
And it's not certain that the players would have crossed paths at all
if it wasn't required by the protocol.
Look at how Messi was greeted by Neymar after Argentina beat Brazil
in last year's Copa América final.
The difference is obvious.
We've talked only about Mbappé at this point,
but not everything is perfect from Messi's side either.
When the team was celebrating the victory in the World Cup
in the Argentina national team locker room,
Emiliano Martínez stopped the proceedings at a certain moment
and announced a moment of silence for Kylian Mbappé, mocking the Frenchman.
Leo in no way reacted to the bullying of his teammate and the celebration continued.
Also, Messi did not stop the farce by Martínez
when he carried a doll with Mbappé's face at the victory celebration in Argentina.
Leo saw exactly what was happening
and given his authority could have easily prevented it.
He has already done so when he prevented teammates from taunting Brazil
after defeating Celso in the Copa América final last year.
In addition, at a certain moment of the celebration,
a Ninja Turtle toy was thrown in Messi's direction,
which apparently symbolized Mbappé.
Leo caught it, laughed and threw it back.
That is, he wasn't against such jokes.
This enmity between the players also symbolizes a battle of generations.
Senior players believe that the younger ones should show respect and not show off much.
And the younger ones think that their time has already come
and veterans have no right to tell them what to do.
With both superstars, PSG have both.
A huge treasure and a ticking time bomb.
Who knows when it might explode and all the dirt would spill out.
And what if it happens ahead of important matches in the Champions League?
The existence of a conflict between Messi and Mbappé
calls into question the Parisians' ability to win the tournament.
And a lineup with Messi, Mbappé, Neymar, Ramos and so on is not assembled to win Liga 1.
So what can the club do to remedy the situation?
How to reconcile the two superstars
so that they give the maximum in the second half of the season
and contribute to PSG's success?
First, their personal meetings should be postponed.
Otherwise, we might see something like this.
Given that Kylian is already back at the club location,
Messi needs to be given as much time off as possible before resuming training.
By the way, it seems that this is exactly what's happening.
Information appeared in the press
that Leo will not play for PSG until at least mid-January next year.
Secondly, joint victories would help after the reunion.
As soon as they give each other a few assists, the mood might change.
The PSG staff must instill in the players
that they must unite for the sake of winning the Champions League
and that this union is in everyone's interest.
It's also necessary to work with leaders like Ramos and Marquinhos
so that they do everything to prevent conflict situations.
Players who have authority in the team are able to resolve that.
Guys, what do you think about the conflict between Messi and Mbappe?
Do you think it's serious?
And whose side are you on?
