Alright, so this is the size of the blank we're going to make the flower pot out of.
I'm planning on probably just using only carbide on this.
I think a spindle gouge would just be too aggressive, especially for this tabletop resin.
Here we go.
Very chippy with the carbide.
It's going to be a long battle because this stuff is very very brittle.
So typically I would put the hole in right now,
but I want to make sure that this thing is going to turn and stuff.
I'm just going to try to come swooping out here into a small base here.
It's going to be very very light cuts. It's going to take a long time.
I'll give y'all a closer look.
I'll bring you back when I'm a little bit further along.
Here we go again. Here we go again.
So it's not being so chippy once I got it around, so that's a big plus.
Still got to get this around.
Slend this down.
Getting there.
Alright, now that I figured out that I am going to be able to cut this, or it looks like I am, my chances are better.
Go ahead and drill a small hole, just for a couple flowers, weeds, whatever you want to call them.
Down to 600 RPM.
You're kind of in my way, but I'll make do. Hopefully my arm don't get in the way.
Just going to go like an inch deep maybe.
Alright, so we're around enough finally.
I really wish I could have left it square, but it was just too ugly.
Now that I kind of got it where I'm mostly around, I think this will do a little better at shaping it.
Damn it.
That fucked it up. That fucked it up real good.
I ain't never had a catch with ******* carbide.
Yikes.
Well at least it did it right here.
God, you got to take just super light passes with this ----.
Well, let's fix it.
I'll tell you this much, I ain't never turning ******* tabletop resin again.
I might fill a hole with it, but I ain't going to do a whole resin project with it.
The finished product, and I'm very pleased with how it turned out.
Of course, again I just lacquered it.
Still not set up for the buffing.
But this is going to hold water.
It is going to be given to my girls.
And I think they're going to like it.
This was just a test to see if it would work.
Now, as you can see, the tabletop resin I had to really take my time on.
If you saw my egg project, I could cut that resin a whole lot faster.
When I started this, I expected that I could probably knock one out.
Or at least knock the shaping and the sanding out in an hour.
This thing took me almost two hours to complete because I was having to cut so slow on it.
So if I make some more again, I will make it out of casting resin.
Which may be a bit more difficult because I will have to do thicker strips.
And then cut it down, which I did cut these strips down.
But I didn't pour them super thick.
You know, they were kind of leftover test pours.
If you want to see a how-to of this, let me know.
And I can put one together.
How to make your own plywood resin.
But yeah, I really like how it had come out.
I think it opens up the doors for a lot of different projects.
It's not cheap.
You know, really, if you don't already have the resin laying around.
Which is why I did this.
Because I had enough tabletop resin just laying around that was about to go bad, I think.
Frog Blank Spectra Ply would be cheaper.
But if you got the resin laying around, this is definitely something that could be cool to do.
