Good morning guys from a very windy allotment plot. Let me go in the shed to film this actually.
Very windy but sunny, sunny which is what we like. I've got the kids here today so obviously it's
all go. Sorry for the lack of video yesterday, it's just been a mad weekend and I couldn't get
down here and film but very very exciting today because I've got here, things are starting to
bloom, flowers are starting to open up which is something I've been waiting for since I planted
my bulbs in like February, something like that. So it's been a long long long wait for these
flowers to open up, I cannot believe it. I got down here and I could just see the purple irises
opened by the pond, it's very very exciting. So I'm going to take you on a little tour
of all the flowers. I can already see butterflies like enjoying them, it's just amazing and magical
so this is a very magical day guys. Let's go in now, let me take you on a tour around what
flowers have actually blossomed. Is that what you call it blossomed or is it bloomed?
I don't know, I don't know what it's called. The point is the flowers have opened up okay.
Right it is very windy today so you're probably not going to see the best life. Right let me show you the pond first
because the pond was looking very much orange because I planted so much orange around the pond,
not intentionally, I just didn't think as usual and suddenly suddenly we've got purple
and it just made the purple stand out so much. Here he is in all his glory, my beautiful iris bulb
has finally flowered, he is beautiful. Yes there's one over there too, you're right and he is a beauty
as well. So funny because for the longest time I thought these bulbs were doing nothing because it
was just long spindly leaf things but now I can see how they work. So it sort of starts as this
like a mass of green like just literally leaves and then this is where the magic is happening in
this bit here, of course it's not going to bloom in focus is it? Hello, right there, this is where the magic
happens and this is where the flower is hiding. You can see it better on this one over here,
that's where the flower is and then he opens to this. You can see how I thought nothing was
happening for the longest time and all of a sudden they've just sort of like popped open.
It's amazing, it's just magical, magical and these calendulas are just, I mean look, they are just
loving life. There's hundreds of them, absolutely hundreds of them now, they are just absolutely
so happy here. It seems the slugs didn't get to them after all, didn't seem to bother them.
Well done guys, but guys that's not the only exciting thing. Oh no, come with me, come with me across the plot.
We've got zinnia flowers opening up but just look at the colours that are coming up, this bright
pink and then over here we've got the bright orange with the pink middle and we've got pink
and we've got some lighter ones and we've just got loads of colours coming up. I would kind of
say like the iris and the calendulas and the poppies over there are kind of like grown-up
flowers, they're very kind of demure and like sensible and serious and then these I would
describe as being like bubble gum, they're like pops of colour, they're like little lollipops
coming up from the ground, all vibrant and bright and exciting and I have to say this is the most
excited that I've been at the plot for seeing something like bloom and open because I mean
look at, they're just, they're just beautiful and they are just, I don't know why, they're just
filling me with so much joy already, the different colours and just the pops of it and ah, they're
little lollipops just popping up everywhere. I always knew I was gonna like zinnias and this
has just proven they are glorious, they're just amazing, they've just put a massive smile on my
face, how could you not smile seeing these zinnias, how could you not smile and I grew these from a
seed guys, a seed, there was a point where I didn't even know what the zinnias looked like as they
were coming up and now, I mean look, beautiful but guys the fun and excitement doesn't stop there,
I feel like Andy Peters of Good Morning Britain, come with me guys, through the garden, the dahlias
have got buds on them which is amazing, these are pom-pom dahlias so they're going to be proper
little pom-pom flowers which I just thought were really exciting, that's why I wanted to grow them
so you can see that they started to get their, oh it's not going to focus, they've got their
flower buds ready to open and be pom-pom heaven, so these are the yellow ones obviously,
don't need to tell you that and then I think I've got different colours coming up on the other ones
but yeah, Sweet Pea's over there starting to burst into flower, hi Tom,
these I didn't think would bloom either but they have started to now,
there's our first little Sweet Pea, he's beautiful isn't he, what a lovely colour
and yeah these have all come up really tall now, you can see some darker ones coming here,
so just all the flowers, all the flowers just bursting into bloom now, it's amazing,
very exciting news, isn't it Ali, excited, well I am, I'm coming down here for a minute because
it's so windy and down here I've got the wingard up, when I say wingard I mean that sort of little
like netting thing which isn't really doing very much, I like to call it a wingard because it
makes me sound more professional, tomatoes look okay, I think I need to tie that one in a bit
more, they look okay, I don't know what they're supposed to look like but they sort of, I've got
a flower on this one, that must be a good sign, yeah that's definitely a good sign isn't it,
he hasn't got any flowers yet but he's growing quite big, this one here, this is a weird tomato,
I think this is a darker, like a brown tomato that I'm growing but they sort of look like,
I might need a bit of water you know, but then it's going to rain later so I don't want to drown
them all, he's not happy, all these bugs trying to destroy it, right I'm going to tie this one
in a bit more because I've decided to keep these stems and just have a massive tomato bush,
oh he's starting to get some flowers guys, look yes, yeah they sort of look all right,
I mean they're getting bigger so I just feel like if they're getting bigger that's good,
that means they're growing doesn't it, so that's good and I'm keeping them mulched you'll be happy,
I keep putting down fresh hay and fresh grass down here, keep them mulched,
all right what I'll do is I'll tie up that other stem, I don't like fiddly things, it stresses me
and I'll tie them up to the top, I keep trimming them,
we're really too close to the ground, yeah there's loads at the ground now,
cut those off, all right he's now tied up with three strings because he's a big boy
and all the suckers are taken out and then I've cut a lot of the leaves at the bottom,
maybe I should cut these as well actually, let me cut those as well because they're touching the
floor, I don't want anything to touch the floor, right that looks better, that looks better,
see how it's sort of like naked at the bottom and the suckers are taken out and he's tied up,
so please live and be happy tomorrow all right, right that's the tomatoes done,
when I was on my way in, oh you picked the sweet pea, that can be for you if you like, smell it Tom,
it's beautiful isn't it, bye bye, on the way into the plot I saw someone else's tomatoes
and I didn't realise how ruthless you could be with chopping off the bottom leaves because they
were like basically like stalks and then suddenly they like bushed out the top, so
I've tried to be a little bit more ruthless with mine and really make the bottoms bare,
as bare as I sort of can, yeah I didn't realise how ruthless you could be with tomatoes, I thought
they sort of needed more leaves but like it's like a bare stem and then bush at the top, so
they seem to do quite well with that, so I'm going to be more ruthless with mine I think,
no don't kill the flower, oh I've only just bloomed and he's picking them all, for god's sakes
get some of this pondweed out, look at it, it's gone mad, oh bloody pondweed everywhere,
don't want this much, this much pondweed, it's too much pondweed, too much pondweed
has been eaten
my pleasure, my pleasure, oh look what I found, look feathers, bird feathers,
I wonder who's been in our strawberries Tommy,
bird feathers, hmm a bird, had a nice meal haven't they, oh flipping heck look at this little guy,
look at this little guy, he is waiting to emerge, oh my goodness, it's an actual sunflower guys,
an actual sunflower is in there, that's amazing, hey mind you I say little guy because he is sort
he's quite big but he's the shortest out of all the tall sunflowers, so sorry mate,
right guys I hope you enjoyed this little vlog, I'm very excited about all my flowers,
I'm just going to weed a little bit and make sure things look, it's so windy my little shed's going
to fall down for sure, look at this wind, right what I'm going to do is I'm just going to weed
a bit, I'm going to write a reminder on my phone that I need to buy some more bamboo canes because
I've got new sunflowers starting to grow and I have to cane them properly because I've had like
endless problems with these sunflowers, some of them are just bent now, if you can see through
the window that first one there is sort of growing sideways now because I didn't like
stake it properly, so I must do that for my new ones, I must learn from my mistakes otherwise
what's the point of making them, I hope you enjoyed the vlog today, if you did subscribe
to my channel and I will see you in my next vlog guys, thank you so much for watching,
I hope your plots are as blooming and making you feel as happy as mine is mine,
mine is me, didn't make sense anyway, see you next time guys, bye!
