Currently, 23,374 people are incarcerated in Wisconsin state prisons costing taxpayers $1.4 billion per year.
I am in favor of the following common sense initiatives ensuring those who commit crimes are held accountable, but at the same time improving the state’s criminal justice system.
1: adding additional Assistant District Attorneys positions along with increase pay progression for ADA’s and State Public Defenders.
2: expanding Treatment Alternatives and Diversion programs to help offenders who suffer from alcohol and drug issues.
3: promoting the successful transition of ex-offenders back into society through expanded worker training, reentry programs, and health initiatives.
These proposals are common-sense reforms that stop the revolving door into our prison system while ensuring Wisconsin remains a safe place to work, raise a family, and retire.
