You should look like you're doing something.
All right, Jason, so what's going on?
Well yesterday when we were leaving, we were supposed to be leaving,
the mainsail was going up and we actually just lubed the track because it's been giving us a little bit of tension.
So I got close to the top and it started getting tension and I should have right then
stopped, gone around and done a 360 all the way around the boat to inspect, but I looked here.
I went to the back. I looked here. It didn't look like anything was caught.
But somehow I guess one of the batten sticking out of the mainsail just
grabbed on to the lazy jack line and just destroyed it.
I saw a little poof, like feathers come out and they were slowly floating down and I was like
shouldn't force stuff.
God, I knew better.
But those lazy jack lines are definitely worn and ready to go. They're super old. They're already like the covers gone.
You know, it's down to the dyneema, which is starting to wear, which says a lot. Nikki's doing it all on the mast.
I am doing the lines, taking her up and down. So I'd say I have the harder job. To take Nikki up,
we lock the jammer,
which acts as a lock so she can't fall down and then
we run it through the winch.
Lock it off. So it's double locked.
This is a secondary line, which is run around a winch for tension, and it's also got a jammer.
So it's like super
super
safe.
Spinnaker line, main halyard line. Ready to go up? Ready to go up.
Good? Good.
In this hole right here.
I'm gonna drop that down
to the bottom of the mast.
Okay, I got it.
I have attached the leader line to our jack line here, and now I'm gonna hopefully
string it down to Jason.
Okay, here we go.
Hold on. Let me get it through there first.
Okay.
No problems allowed.
While my Jason is fixing a problem down there,
I will say that having a comfortable Bosun's chair is super important.
We did buy this newer one because it seemed sturdier and it was 100 or 150 bucks,
but we didn't really truly like test test it out.
And I don't know if Bosun's chairs come in various sizes, but this one is way too big for me.
So I sit back in it and it's like a potato sack. So it's not comfortable at all.
So my back really starts to hurt once I've been up here for a little while and
if you're gonna have to be up here working,
you need to be comfortable. So,
I don't know. I think we need another new Bosun's chair.
But the view is nice and today is so much calmer than yesterday.
I was getting knocked all around by the swell and the wind.
Today,
it's beautiful.
Cool, okay.
Okay, we're getting close.
Okay, I got it.
Yeah, you did do a lot of tape.
Okay, that's good. We'll leave as much up there as possible so we can bring it down.
Got a new one of those.
Tied a bowline and a bowline to hold them together. It's gonna work.
So far so good. It's gonna work. I feel it.
We're going to the gementos, baby.
This isn't gonna be good.
Look at the rebels.
Now I'm really like a monkey swinging in a tree.
Not as bad as I thought it was gonna be.
Almost got this guy in.
My last little screw here. Look at that. All fixed up.
Looking awesome. Although I have to point out,
see those?
So whenever this got popped off in this line blue, it obviously hit hard because, man, it's a couple of good gouges.
All fixed. Both sides look the same again.
To bring her down,
we throw the jammer or unlock the jammer on the spinnaker halyard, which is our secondary line.
We open the jammer on the main halyard, which is our primary line.
Take it out of the teeth,
which is our third backup. So now she is a hundred percent in my hands.
No big deal. You ready? Yep. This is where communication is key.
All right, let me know how that speed is. All right, looks good.
The other thing is you want to keep it pretty steady as far as the speed because otherwise if it's really jumpy,
makes you anxious when you're up there on the mast.
And this is one of the bad things about having an old line because it tweaks like that. I gotta unclip myself here.
I think we'll be okay.
All right, down we go. Here we go.
How's that speed? Speed's good.
The view is good.
Hold on. I need to replace that. Okay, ready? Ready. Going down.
You know when you're at summer camp and you do the truss fall?
Yeah, this is like,
takes probably ten times more truss.
It's really important to like your other half or the person you're traveling with.
And really important to have a crappy insurance policy so that there's, you know, no extra motivation. No incentive.
You doing good? All right, here we go. Going down.
Down.
Back on land. Let's have lunch. Yes.
Who's gonna clean up this mess?
You are. I did the work on the mast. You have to do everything else.
Success. Success. Great success. Maybe this should be its own video.
We're going to the gementos. Fixing problems like a boss.
Take it off.
Cheers. Cheers. Job well done? Yes.
We can't take full credit because it wasn't our idea. We looked at the mast for a couple hours and said,
how are we going to make this work? So what did we do? We called Kit.
You know, the guy that holds the boat. Helped us do all the work on the boat and
pretty much like our mentor. Yeah, so cheers to you. Just got it right. Yes. Cheers Kit.
And oh, if you liked this video, make sure to give us a thumbs up, leave us a comment, share it with a friend.
It really helps. Yes. And guacamole really helps you feel good.
Helps after a long day.
See you on the water.
Should have told them about our dillies. These are dillies. Oh, yeah.
Them things are dillies. Them things. Tingums. Tingums. These tingums are dillies. These tingums are dillies.
They're kind of waxy and they're totally different. Remember how I said I always wanted to try a different fruit when we went to a different country?
Here we go. There you go. This is a local fruit that grows here on the island. Dillie.
It's a dillie. Kind of tastes like a pear mixed with
guava mixed with fig.
Yeah, kind of a figgy flavor.
They kind of look like figs a little, you know.
Okay, I'm gonna eat.
