Kate has been dreaming about getting back to her roots being raised on a working cattle ranch, so she (which translates to "we") jumped at the chance to spend a week on a cattle ranch (or what the Aussie's call a "Cattle Station") in the amazing Macedon Ranges about an hour north of metropolitan Melbourne. Our hosts quickly became close friends and we'll be forever grateful for their hospitality and for welcoming us into their family. From gathering eggs, to mending fences, to reforesting portions of the range, this rates as one of our favorite experiences yet. Watching wild kangaroos hop across the hillsides surrounding us notched itself in our memories as an iconic and unforgettable experience that we'll treasure forever.

This is Simon and Andrew, our hosts out here in this beautiful ranch.
And what sort of rooster is Jeffrey?

Wild kangaroos just hopping around the hills while we work.
This morning we're heading in for breakfast, but in true ranch style, one of the roosters
escaped, so Narelle is trying to catch him.
And she got him.
Prepared for the day.

We're just having a blast out here.
It is the most picturesque location I think I've ever seen.
Seriously, they should film movies out here.
It is so beautiful.
The pigs are so cute.
Wonderful Narelle brought us up here to the top of Mount Macedon to go to the Memorial
Cross.
And you get to see Melbourne right down there.
The forest smells amazing.
It's refreshing and just makes you smile.
Was it DC-3 that crashed aircraft for World War II?
Australia is wonderful.
The cities and the people are great, but the outdoors and the countryside, hands down,
is my favorite place to be.
With the birds everywhere and the animals, you just can't stop turning around before
you hit something that's amazing.
It's a wonderful place.
And it's back to Melbourne.
