In this project, we make a cutting board for my sister as a graduation present. You also get to meet my dad and see his workshop. We tried wood bending for the first time with some purple heart. I guess the strip was 1/8th of an inch, but I didn't measure. We just soaked it in hot water for about an hour and there were no issues with cracking, gaps, or splitting once we finally got it clamped.

All right, hey guys, welcome back. I'm Dave and this is my dad. Say hi dad.
How are you doing? All right, and so I'm at my parents' house this week in Texas
and we're going to make some graduation presents for my sister. So let's go ahead and get started.
All right, so the first thing that we got to do is we're going to take the wood and we're going
to cut it down to 16 inches on the miter saw because that's how watt long we want the cutting
perfect a fit as we can before we do the glue up. All right, I bought these old clamps
probably 25 years ago. They're designed to just help you glue up panels and they're adjustable
so we'll kind of put the thing together and show you how this works.
Davis gave me this for Christmas and birthday and it's wonderful. I love this thing. This
is so cool. We use it all the time. Wish that had been the one that came up with it.
Anyway, this is cool. I love this but the only complaint I have about the stupid thing
is every time I go to glue it up this thing is in the way. So I'm holding, I'm doing,
I watched your video the other day and you took this and you went like that and I go shazam.
Yep, changes everything. So, you know, when you have a mind like mine it doesn't work for stuff
like this. Oh mine either. I would have, I would totally would have just let it hang like that
for months. I mean, let it all hang. I probably would have, I probably would have.
doing the whole wood bending kind of line in the middle and I thought it went really well.
It went better than planned so you might see a lot of these in the future. So we soaked it in
hot water to begin with, this little strip of purple heart, and we think that's what ended
up making it work in the long run. So let us know what you think. If you think this is a cool design,
if you want to see more of it, or if you have any cooler ideas to expand upon it, we'd love to hear
it in the comments below. So I know the last thing YouTube needed in the woodworking community was
another cutting board video, but this is our little take on it, so we hope you liked it.
So give us a like if you liked what you saw in this video, and then if you've watched this far,
you're probably going to like the majority of the stuff we make. So just go ahead and subscribe.
Thanks so much for watching and we'll see you next time.
