information every day. Number five, friends and family. Lionel Messi has three sons,
Thiago, Mateo, and Ciro. And while they are still very young, the eldest of them all, Thiago,
has already started to prove that he is going to follow in his father's footsteps.
He is only eight years old, but enrolled in FCB Escola. FCB Escola is a school for children of
players and employees of the Barcelona team. At FCB Escola, the children learn to play football
at least two times per week and have a match against each other every Sunday. Here, Thiago
plays alongside Benjamin Suarez, the son of Luis Suarez, and Milan Pique, the former with whom
Thiago has proven to have a close friendship. However, now Thiago is lining up to enroll in
his father's alma mater, La Masia de Can Planes, also known as La Masia Academy. This youth academy
is for general education and specializing in football training, and it has produced
World Cup winners and Champions League heroes. Number four, skills. Thiago has been called a
phenomenon by his father. He is also shown to be a good leader at FCB Escola, has the passion and
drive for the sport, and he is seen to have made plenty of goals regularly within each game he
plays. But he doesn't seem to be completely perfect. According to an interview with his father,
Thiago is crazy about football, but he gets tired quickly. He can run just a bit, but that's all.
He is exhausted. So it appears that Thiago can go fast, but only for a short period of time,
which could prove very difficult on the road to becoming a professional football player
like his father. But with time, practice, and training, he still has that natural potential
and born greatness to achieve. Number three, inspirations. Thiago, like any kid, also has his
idols and football players that he looks up to. And funnily enough, two of which are the fathers
to his friends, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. and Benjamin Suarez. Thiago looks up to Cristiano Ronaldo Sr.,
while his friend Jr. actually is said to look up to his dad, Lionel Messi.
Thiago also looks to Antoine Griezmann and Arturo Vidal.
The latter is said to have caught Thiago's attention because of his wild haircut.
Number two, disinterest and different tastes. Now things weren't always so football-focused for
Thiago. It has been a few years since Bayet. First, Thiago wasn't even really interested in
football. He may have been good at it, but he didn't look to be quite a fan. In an interview
for an Argentinian TV show, Palameca en la Bar, his father Leo discussed,
I don't buy him any balls or force him to play with them because he doesn't like them that much.
And then, with another Spanish television show a year later, he mentioned he does not like football
much, really. He goes because Benja, son of Luis Suarez, and some schoolmates go, but he's not a
fan. He's not like his, Suarez's son, who is all day with the ball. So could his passion for the
sport really come from his own drive or from the influence of his friends? Even more recently,
he seems not to want to follow in his father's path, playing for Barcelona, shortened to Barca
for fans. He is said to admire the CR7, but be more of a Real Madrid fan. He even has admitted
that his top three favorite players don't even play for Barca. As previously mentioned,
he dramatically admires Cristiano Ronaldo Sr., even going as far as having him part of the top
three favorites. The other two being Neymar da Silva Santos Jr., who plays for Brazil,
and Kylian Mbappé, who plays for France. However, things have started to change in Thiago's tastes.
He is starting to become more of a Barca fan, strengthening his resolve to play the sport
and succeed. Even Leo said in an interview last year, he's beginning to understand what it means
when we lose, and what it means for me in the team. And then there is Thiago's younger brother,
Matteo Messi. He is the middle son of the three, but seems to be rising almost as quickly as Thiago.
In an interview with their father, Leo said, Matteo does play a bit of football.
He has better coordination than Thiago. He hits the ball well, but Matteo's tiny.
And in terms of technique, Matteo has been seen to be very gifted at such a young age,
maybe even possessing the potential to surpass his older brother with enough training and
determination. However, that may not happen in the way most people think. He is two years younger
than his brother, but seems to have similar tastes as his brother did at that age. He doesn't show
too much interest in football in general, and even less in Barca. As a little jokester that he is
turning out to be, he even says that he wants to play for Liverpool, which has defeated Barca in
the past. Stories of him trolling his older brother and dad have come out where he will
cheer for the opposing team to Barca whenever they all watch at home. Though, like his brother's
current switch, Matteo has recently become a Barca fan, and less of an antagonist to his father.
We may not be able to tell the future for Thiago, but it's safe to assume that he is going to follow
in his father's footsteps. Maybe even surpass him, what do you think?
