The Day Lionel Messi Showed Cristiano Ronaldo & Zinedine Zidane Who Is The Boss

So there is Gareth Bale making his 100th La Liga appearance tonight. And a bit earlier on, Cristiano Ronaldo of course, and he scored 16 goals in Clasicos and 8 of those have been in La Liga Clasicos. Forward, the way he does defence, he's playing as a 10, left winger, left back, tackling in his box, assisting in the other one. I mean this is an example because it wasn't easy for him when he first arrived in Madrid, but it's a long time ago when you think about it now, but he's been a hell of a player this season. Rakitic clears. It's the full four. Suarez. Passing Miro. Looking to pray on Ter Stegen. Building save. Excellent play from CR7. Good turn of pace down the right-hand side. Skipper has Messi, you can't pin him down to a position. Jordi Alba. Suarez is hung deep. Whistles one in. It's a chance, Rob. What can I say? Jordi Alba was up there as well. He was up there tonight against Real Madrid. Messi gets past Casemiro. He's going to have to watch his step tonight, Casemiro. That's his job, to stop the flow in midfield and the referee. Very early booking, that's dangerous. He doesn't need to get, that's one of the... Modric, what a key player he has developed into for Real Madrid. Modric to Benzema. Benzema has a chance, but it was a soft shot. Midy closed out. Messi leaves Modric and Casemiro on his way. Messi going solo. He tried to pass it on to Kroos. Marcelo. With some work space. Benzema fighting for a position in the centre. Ronaldo, big hand from Ter Stegen. It was important, because not only did he stop it, he had to batter it. Barcelona strike straight back, and this comes to Suarez. And the two number nines getting chances within 25 seconds of each other. Over the top. Bale! The element of surprise, and tried to take it for Messi. Last position. Casemiro. He's not good. Look at this. Messi is down. That's not a sight you want at any footballer. To Benzema. Real Madrid, full back. Overstepped by Benzema. Cristiano Ronaldo tries to create something out of nothing at all. He had an option to play the ball. Gareth Bale. Tremendous tackle. Casemiro has another little dig in him. Marcelo. Ter Stegen stays. It's Ramos. It's the post! Great beauty in the eyes of those Real Madrid supporters. It's his fourth goal, Rob. He's scored already this season, but you can see when the cross comes in from Marcelo, not Messi. Casemiro. Leaves him on the floor again. Messi is alongside him. Suarez doesn't find Messi. Handed ball. Now Modric. Shoot is the cry. It was some shot. That is another excellent save from Ter Stegen. Suarez. Alcacer makes the angle. Jordi Alba comes in, and Suarez got a connection on it. Well, it was Arsenio, Marco Arsenio, who was back tracking in. Messi. It's a slip from Ramos. Well run back, but it's only to Lionel Messi. And Messi tries to curl it in. It's Busquets. No-go charge. Messi does. Casemiro again. Good points. Jordi Alba's had an awful lot of freedom. Lionel Messi. Busquets. Rakitic. Leaves it for Messi. Messi full steam ahead. Brilliant! Lionel Messi! Hasn't scored in six Clasicos, but he's back to haunt Real Madrid. Cut and thrust. Absolutely superb. He's on his 46th goal now, Rob. Combination. Lovely little one-two. Acceleration of the box and an absolutely top draw finish. Well, one for the history books as well because this is the goal that puts him ahead of everybody else as the Scorsese. The replacement for Gareth Bale. Sensio continues the run. Benzema on the outside. Oh, Benzema can't get there, but that was because just a step of him. Casemiro. Umtiti's interception. Just enough to top it. With the corner. Suarez with a header. Messi dances with Rakitic. And a swinger from Kroos. Another important save from Ter Stegen. Rakitic. Jordi Alba. Rakitic's touch. Alcacer's big chance! And Keylor Navas to Real Madrid's rescue. What a chance. There is Voskes. Rattled by Benzema. Marcelo makes an excellent run. Benzema's in there. Oh, what a save by Ter Stegen. It is Messi. Messi. Suarez makes an angle for him into the stride of Suarez. Real Madrid. Oh, tremendous save. It's Pique who threw himself at it. And Navas who makes his second stunning save of the second half. Benzema. Brilliant run from the Frenchman. Long way to go yet though. Suarez. Marcelo gets around. Rakitic good cross in. Kroos' corner. Rakitic. Messi. A cross. Alcacer. Digs it in. Ronaldo! We all know what he had in mind. That's going to hurt him. Iniesta. And there's Suarez! Top class once more from Keylor Navas. Wow, wow, wow. Modric. Ronaldo. He gets the cross in. That's interesting. Benzema. That's very interesting. Asenso. He's the youngster. Sutton's got a big chance here. Pass it on to Ronaldo! He wants the ground to swallow him up with the whole world watching. Wow, wow. Doesn't miss many like that normally. Cristiano Ronaldo. Kroos is just slacking a bit for me, Rob. I don't know if he's run out of steam. Gets around. Casemiro. Messi. Rakitic. Halder makes an angle for him. Asensio. Carvajal. And he'll run it to the maze. That's why he hasn't scored a league goal this season, Rob. Pique. Corden. Oh, this is tricky. Dramatic late goals. It's still the 90th minute here. Marseille. The big space in the Barcelona defence. Ronaldo! This is Jordi Alba. Lionel Messi. Rakitic. Teases Real Madrid. Tries to find the gap. Rakitic! Oh, what a goal. Stunning goal! Patience pays off! And you can see what it means to Luis Enrique. That has stunned Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo slips. Pique. Brilliant ball by Suarez. Andre Gomes. Pique's in the centre-forward position. Pique! Alonso saves. Rakitic with Riquet. Pique is a threat. Ten man Real Madrid to gamble. Barcelona. Oh, Messi. It's one of those tackles where Ramos had committed himself. Straight red! Ramos is off. You need to consider that. Gross. Marseille. Hits with hope. Brilliant run. Oh, my goodness. He does write his name in the history books. Oh, you said it, Rob. Two minutes to go. Ten man Real Madrid. Five minutes to go. And he gets in at the near post and puts it in. That's a fabulous goal. Benzio. Cuts inside. James. Gomes. Doesn't get it. Gets it now from Ronaldo. Hammes across. Barcelona scrambling. And now it's Ter Stegen who's in the line of duty. The youngest man on the pitch. Asensio. Ter Stegen. Still in play. The danger won't go go. Asensio's in. Leading. Until the death again. And another late dramatic goal from Real Madrid. This is where the extra man is paying off for Barcelona. One final roll of the dice. Can they hit the jackpot? Gomes. Jordi Alba. Lionel Messi. Oh, my goodness. Lionel Messi does it again. He's superhuman. Lionel Messi has just exploded La Liga into life. Another chapter in the incredible story of this little man. Oh, my goodness. You cannot write the script for this, Rob. This is unbelievable stuff. There's the man who won it. Lionel Messi. He has been absolutely superb. Black eye. Missing teeth. And I'm sure he's going to go in the club museum forever. He's got the winning goal yet again.
