How to grow Stromanthe triostar! The Stromanthe thalia 'triostar, formerly Stomanthe sanguinea 'triostar, have been popular houseplants for many many years. Over the years I have grown Stromanthe triostar three different ways and each has worked well, potted, self-watering pots and floating pond pots. For growing any and all calathea, I highly suggest using self wicking cord and placing the plant above a basin of water, this makes a huge difference in how the plants perform! One very important thing I forgot to mention in this video is to never grow these in unglazed clay pottery, unless you live somewhere extremely humid with a lot of precipitation. Plastic pots and glazed/sealed containers are a must for Stromanthe and Calatheas! After talking about the care for the triostar, I went over things like propagating Stromanthe triostar and more importantly, troubleshooting. There have been a lot of questions over the years from people about their triostar. I did my best to touch on those FAQ's such as: Stromanthe triostar brown leaves or brown leaf tips; Stromanthe triostar yellow leaves; Stromanthe triostar dying; Stromanthe triostar curled leaves; repotting stromanthe triostar; watering Stromanthe; fertilizing Stromanthe etc. These are possibly my favorite of all the variegated houseplants and what's even better is they aren't one of the rare or unicorn plants that cost a fortune and are unobtainable.
