Things to See and Eat in Belgrade, Serbia! _ Travel Vlog!.
It's our very first day out in Serbia, or Belgrade, and we're running to go catch our free walking tour.
Are we close?
Five minutes away.
I love how this street functions and why it's the only street that we have in the city.
We're very proud of.
Luckily, you would never buy in the supermarket.
It's a fence.
You make it at home, rent it, and then we can make a toast together, okay?
Morning shot.
We just finished doing the walking tour.
It was very helpful.
We really like doing walking tours or just a tour just to kind of get an idea of how the city is
and where everything is and get a little bit more of the history.
So we just finished that and got a recommendation on where to eat, and she recommended this place.
Manufaktura for some authentic Balkan food and drinks.
So we're going to give it a shot.
Can't wait to see what we're going to eat.
Belgrade has been through 115 battles over its history, and of those 115, it has been destroyed 44 times
and had to be rebuilt from scratch.
So you'll notice a lot in the architecture that there is different styles throughout history.
And so today, we're actually going to learn a little bit more about the most recent history, which is the 20th century.
This is the Saint Sava Church.
It's an Orthodox Church or a Serbian Orthodox Church, and it's dedicated to Saint Sava,
who was a prince of one of the royal families who turned into a monk but brought Orthodox religion here to Serbia.
And so the construction of this one began in 1936, but because of all of the wars and tumultuous uprisings,
they haven't finished the inside, but the outside is complete.
And you can just tell how large that church is.
This is why the bombing started.
It started mainly because of the situation that was happening in Kosovo, the south part of our country.
Kosovo was not always part, it was always part of Serbian territory, and over there always lived Serbs.
These are the ruins of the Yugoslav army headquarters.
This building was bombed by NATO in the 1990s to help create peace in the Yugoslavian civil wars.
Harbin's trying burek with ham and cheese.
Oi, oi.
I could eat this every day.
We just went to the market, and look at what we got for $2.
This is probably easily $7 in the U.S.
Serbian burger. Put it next to your head for size.
Oh my God, Jamie.
