Math, as we know it today, has evolved significantly over the centuries. It has progressed from simple counting, measurement, and calculations to the application of abstract logic and several complex concepts. Math has a history that predates human civilization. In this video, we'll go back in time and explore ancient Arab history, where it plays a vital role in the transmission of mathematics to Europe.

Since the eighth century, Arabs have brought knowledge of the ancient world to Europe. They all helped to create a new world. Carthaginians, Germanic peoples, and Arabs: their achievements gave rise to modern Europe. They were farmers, traders, and nomads who lived in a variety of tribes. Islam, founded by the Prophet Muhammed, was the first to bring them together.

They defeated an empire spanning three continents. They established the "House of Wisdom," an oasis of scholarship, in their capital, Baghdad. They brought knowledge of the ancient world and the East to Europe. As patrons of science, they were far ahead of their contemporaries in medicine, architecture, and astronomy.
