Tell Your Story - Mandy Sandlin | The OC for Social Studies
OER Conference for K-12 Social Studies | Track Talk: The power of narrative
Tell Your Story
Our stories change us- for better or for worse. Either way, there is POWER in our narrative. The stories of others open us up for empathy, compassion and thoughtfulness. They help us become the best version of ourselves, because we are connected to others. I believe that we are at a turning point in education. The Covid Pandemic and Black Lives Matter movement over the last several months have given us an OPPORTUNITY to do better. Thoughtfully incorporating your narrative and (more importantly) your student’s narratives in your classroom will take time and energy, but the outcomes will be worth it.
