China to begin testing new aircraft carrier: U.S remains vigilant

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) continues with its plan to increase its military strength to exert more significant influence in the global geopolitical framework.

In June 2022, the largest Chinese-built warship, the Fujian aircraft carrier, was launched.

As the final stages of construction continue at the Shanghai shipyard, its captain, Qian Shumin, announced in an interview with official Chinese media that the ship will begin its first sea trials this year.

The centennial date, which will come in 2027, was cited by CCP leader Xi Jinping as a goal for meeting his navy modernization targets.
