Hey everybody, welcome to the Waldok way. I'm Jessica and today's video is a look inside the brand new holiday fun around the world curriculum
Holiday fun around the world is an opportunity for your family to experience different cultures
countries and holiday traditions you will be able to celebrate observe or learn more about
12 different holidays festivals or celebrations
And they are christmas
Chinese new year devali
Epiphany or three kings day hanukkah
Kwanzaa los pasadas
Omasoka ramadan saint lucy's day saint nicholas day and winter solstice or yule
In the very beginning you will find a map your holiday fun around the world
so what you will do here is have your child color in a different color for each of the
holiday celebration or
Festivals and then they will color on the map all the different places that they are
Observed
The around the world page here is an overview and these are all things that you could use throughout the entire unit study
None of which are required, but there is a video in the extras with qr code
There are books and there are additional resource suggestions
But those again can be used throughout the entire thing
One of my favorite things about holiday fun around the world is that there is no additional required resource
So just this is enough to do the entire unit study
There are additional suggested resources
But you don't need any of them to do this unit study and that is because the information is within the curriculum itself
So here is a write-up about christmas
That's going to tell you all about christmas how it celebrated the different names that santa might be referred to in the different places
How it began as a christian holiday and has grown into something that people, you know of other places
Recognize and celebrate and how they do that
And then kind of different ways that you can celebrate it if you choose to do that
There are also discussion questions at the bottom of each one so that it gives you something to discuss with your child after you've read it
And then here is more information on christmas. So there's additional books up here if you choose to read them
There is a youtube playlist with a clickable link and a qr code with some videos about christmas and christmas around the world
There is a qr code and a clickable pinterest board with some crafts
And then here at the bottom there is a recipe
And each and every holiday is set up just like that
There is also an original one-of-a-kind hand-drawn coloring page for each holiday festival or celebration as well
And then there is a recording sheet where your child can record some of the different things that they learn
Which is like the day that it's celebrated the greeting that's used here
Obviously would be merry christmas the different historical figures that are associated with it
Decorations that are traditional the food that is eaten and different traditions that may or may not take place for that
So like I said, everyone is set up in a very similar fashion
And then you also get a few extras and those extras are
a passport
Where you can and you'll have your child put a picture of their name their age and then you can date each time you attend
a different celebration
So just a little souvenir of your unit celebration
You also get boarding passes so you can have your child's name and the different destination you're heading to which would be the different
celebrations festivals or holidays
And then there are also templates to make an ornament. So this is one
That has already been made but you will have a template to be able to make a different ornament
to hang on either your tree
Or make a banner of and kind of have a way to symbolize all of the different
Holidays festivals or celebrations that you learned about throughout this unit study
