Look Inside: 12 Days of Christmas | Exploring the Traditional Symbols of Christmas Unit Study

[Music] hey everybody Welcome to the balock way I'm Jessica and today's video is going to be a look inside our brand new 12 Days of Christmas unit study this unit study is going to be all about exploring the traditional symbols of Christmas the best thing about it in my opinion is that you don't need anything else this unit study is all you need the first thing we have is an introduction kind of gives you an overview of what you're going to be doing on the 12 days the 12 symbols discussed are Christmas bells candy canes Christmas carols Christmas trees gingerbread mistletoe nutcrackers poetas Santa Claus Star of Bethlehem Christmas stockings and Christmas reath and you also have a visual table of contents each symbol will be done over the course of one day hence 12 Days of Christmas and all of the lesson plans are laid out exactly the same you will read the non-fiction passage that I've included for you there is an additional picture book suggestion for each of them in case you want to check out your library or see if there's a readal out on YouTube you don't need it it's just an extra thing that I've included you will watch the corresponding YouTube video on that symbol there is a clickable link and a scannable QR code you'll complete the included notebooking page and then there are coloring pages for younger kids and video drawing tutorials for older kids again with clickable links and a scannable QR code and then I've included an extra enrichment activity idea just something that if you want to go further is an option but again it's not required this study is very in depth even without it the reading passages are going to include the origin of that symbol the history of that symbol and how it's made or how it's come to be then there are also discussion questions for each symbol just to kind of check your child's comprehension here's one of the examples of a coloring page for the younger kids not that the older kids can't do it because Emily has already said she wants to do the coloring pages and the Drawing Tutorials and then here is that notebooking page that they will fill out to kind of round their learning out here are some more examples so there's candy canes and Christmas carols and for Christmas carols the activity is a super fun game this scannable QR code actually takes you to a Spotify playlist full of Christmas carols and you're going to use them to play a bingo game so you're going to grab the Christmas carol bingo card that's already included obviously Mark your free space and then scan that QR code so that you have the Spotify playlist I like to shuffle it just so that it's different each and every time and then you're just going to press play and then whichever song starts playing like 12 days of Christmas you're going to Mark that if you have it on your board and obviously whoever fills up a line the quickest is going to be your winner
