Luka's dunking on everyone and tired of the Mavericks.
Luka's getting better but the Mavericks don't care.
Luka's finishing at his best rate at the rim, scoring his most points in the paint ever at
13.5 points per game, shooting a career high 64.5% within 10 feet. He has 6 dunks this year,
but he had 7 all of last regular season. The Mavs offense is based on Luka driving and
kicking for threes. He scores 14.1 points on drives, 3rd most in the league. He's also
shooting a league best 63.1% on 20 pointed drives per game and this summer, Luka heard the talk.
Yeah, he got called out by respectable figures and the NBA community on his way.
Reggie Miller said he needs to trim down and Luka acknowledged it.
After Reggie's comments, Luka briefly met with Reggie,
dapped him up and just said, understood. That's some G ---- right there.
Luka's weight fluctuated over recent years. This same time last year, Luka weighed 260 pounds
and it wasn't muscle. Fast forward to now and he's 230. Man's on that James Harden diet.
But even doing all this, even though Luka continues to improve,
the Mavericks continue to be mid. Just like if y'all liking the content,
feel free to subscribe cuz over 75% of y'all aren't.
Trying to hit 600k by the end of the year and got another video this week the media won't focus on.
Despite having an unarguable top 5 player in the league, the Mavs continue to be a 500 team
and continue to rely only on Luka. He's at the highest usage rate of his career.
In fact, his current usage would rank 5th in the last decade.
All those players on this chart had teams who made efforts at obtaining a secondary
all-star caliber player, already had one, and a good supporting cast.
Besides the 2017 Thunder that just lost to Rant.
The Mavericks have Christian Wood. In fact,
the Mavericks in every offseason so far with Luka have struck out.
Based on NBA coaches, they just had the worst offseason in the NBA.
What are the Mavericks doing man?
What is up dudes, dudettes, ballers, players. It's ya boi MJ.
Luka is averaging 32.8 points, 8.7 assists and 8.3 rebounds on 50% from the field.
Yeah, nearly 5 points up from last year. The Mavericks run a 5 out offense.
Basically, give the ball to Luka and give him as much space as possible.
To account for all the usage, Luka has gotten even slower?
He's moving at his slowest average speed on the court.
But all that usage and relentless opponent defensive focus eventually hurts his efficiency.
Against the Warriors in the playoffs, Luka's effective field goal percentage
dropped to under 50% and his offensive rating fell below 110.
His defense was also a liability because teams liked to target him,
allowing 123.9 points per 100 possessions.
Every NBA player knows that the Mavericks offense is just Luka.
Kevin Durant and Kyle Kuzma both basically said that the Mavs have no one else on the team.
Teams can just focus on him and double him high.
They get the ball out of Luka's hands early and the Mavericks are now playing 4v3,
but really without a great playmaker.
We've seen this with other teams like the Warriors when teams split Curry.
Except the person Curry is usually dumping the ball off to is Draymond Green in a team
filled with shooters and decision makers.
The Mavericks failed to put that sort of team around Luka.
It was obvious what the Mavericks needed,
players that could create for themselves and take the load off Luka.
But what did they do?
They messed up the Jalen Brunson free agency and lost their 2nd best player
and secondary ball handler for nothing.
They could've offered a 4 year 55 million dollar extension,
but waited and by the time they offered a deal,
he outperformed that number and decided to test free agency
and go to the Knicks with his dad on the coaching staff.
The Knicks might've overpaid, but we up right now.
Let me have this.
I'm also giving away a new Air Jordan 1 Chicago,
so whatever size, wherever you are and more in the next video.
Just need a little bit more time to get everything right, so stay tuned.
What is failed and forgotten is that the Mavericks tried to give Luka a star
early on with Kristaps Porzingis.
The unicorn, a big man that could shoot.
Mavericks traded one of Luka's closest friends at the time,
Dennis Smith Jr, along with other pieces and draft capital for Porzingis and Tim Hardaway Jr.
Not the best star relationship wise, but they're professionals.
Porzingis was coming off an ACL tear,
but the hope was that these two would be the all-star duo to build around.
See, Porzingis couldn't stay on the court.
If we just scroll through his injury history, yeah, that's quite a bit.
In the past three seasons with the Mavs,
Porzingis has missed 68 games out of a potential 202 games.
Injuries took away Porzingis' ability to be a defensive stopper.
The Mavs' offense mainly had him as a spotter shooter.
Porzingis wasn't able to post up and failed to be an interior presence
that drew attention away from Luka.
You can see that Luka is getting frustrated at all of this.
His body language just shows that he's tired of this team.
But even then, there weren't that many offensive schemes and Luka ball reigned supreme.
Luka is literally putting up 2K numbers at the age of 23.

Now the Mavericks seem to be scorned, unwilling to chase players in free agency.
Players also don't want to come to Dallas,
where it's letting Tyson Chandler walk in 2011 after winning a championship.
Not sounding prime Darren Williams.
Not sounding prime Dwight Howard.
The DeAndre Jordan fiasco when the Clippers hauled him hostage with a chair.
Trading for Rondo in 2014 and him quitting mid-game in the playoffs.
So yeah, the Mavericks are stuck.
With their taxpayer mid-level exemption in this year's free agency, you would think,
okay they need a ball handler to replace Jalen Brunson.
They didn't get Goran Drogic.
So who are they gonna get?
They added Shaq-n-the-Fool legend JaVale McGee.
McGee signed a 3-year, $17 million deal to be the starting center?
Starting?
Okay JaVale is solid, but again, the savior for the Mavericks when they need a ball handler?
He's already been relegated to the bench behind Dwight Powell and averages 10 minutes per game.
And we're not even halfway in the season.
Oh yeah, that's when he's not a DMP.
With a lack of ball handlers, the Mavericks walk the ball up the court.
They're the second slowest paced team in the league,
last in transition opportunities, and last in fast break points.
They're also 26th in assist percentage,
last in rebound percentage, and last in scoring in the paint.
Again, Luka ball, but they don't have another offense.
It should be a crime what the Mavericks are putting around Luka.
We've seen other teams build around one high usage superstar.
Early Jordan, 2006 Kobe, Prime Harden, and none of them were able to make a finals,
let alone win a championship with that style.
Recently, there have been a lot of comparisons between Luka and Harden.
Both score over 80% of their field goals unassisted.
Harden's teams played at a much quicker pace,
but both players average around 3.6 miles per hour while on the court.
Even putting them side by side, both average around 2.3 to 2.6 stepbacks per game.
The in-between-the-leg-to-crossover-repeat size up allow ball pounding, perky jerky,
stop and go action, both players complain.
Doc Rivers said, you can pressure them, you can double team them,
they're just not gonna speed up for you.
You're not gonna speed them up, either one of them.
Over the last 6 seasons, they have 4 of the top 5 seasons for time of possession.
But at some point, there's gotta be a decision.
The whole offense cannot be just Luka.
Jason Kidd literally has not come up with anything else.
He doesn't even know what the Mavericks can do when teams double Luka.
Bruh.
Luka takes 34% of his team's field goal attempts
and 48% of his team's free throw attempts over the last 4 seasons.
At its peak, Harden was taking 33% of his team's field goal attempts
and 54% of his team's free throw attempts.
Luka's usage has been 36% and Harden's usage was 36%.
Both players literally did it all for their teams.
Luka might only be 23, but he's already had 3 straight seasons of being all NBA First Team.
And the Mavericks have already seen that they cannot win with this style of play,
but continue to waste season after season.
They're wasting his prime like the Cavs did with LeBron in the 2000s.
We are year 5 into Luka's career and at this point in LeBron's career
is literally when all of us start to look at the Cavs' front office like,
what are you doing?
So I'm doing the same with the Mavs.
Stop repeating the Harden mistake,
heck stop repeating the same mistake history has shown and get some star to be right next to Luka.
Or find a coach that is willing to figure out a scheme and earn the trust of Luka.
Apparently Jason Kidd has constantly been on him for staying in shape,
yet he thanked Reggie Miller for it because when he tells Luka,
it goes in one ear and out the other.
But when he heard the same message from somewhere else, he understood like,
oh okay, I got it.
The one caveat to all of this is whether Luka actually improves his teammates.
Leadership is more than just carrying a team.
Sometimes it's even sacrificing your numbers to get more teammates involved,
but it also takes competent coaching and pieces to put your star in a position to win.
If there's another offense proposed and Luka vetoed it, I don't know,
but I'm thinking Luka would want anything but whatever this is.
Should he be moving more off ball? Yes.
Should he probably be a better defender? Yes.
But what he's being asked to do on a nightly basis is unfair.
The ALLDAY notification I want to shout out goes to BoydyWhite.
Thanks for the ALLDAY support.
And if you want to know about a crazy comeback from Kemba, another Mavs player,
there's a video right here.
And if you're still here, your real one to comment, understood, so I know.
Happy Holidays. Giveaway is coming soon. I'm excited for it, man.
It's ya boi MJ. We Out!
