AI GeneratedA chaotic second day of the NBA season featured high-scoring shootouts, intense trash-talking, and dominant debuts. Key highlights include Anthony Edwards' 45-point explosion against the Heat, Luka Doncic's clash with rookie Yaxel Lendeborg in a Lakers win, and strong performances from Anthony Davis and Kawhi Leonard in their respective openers.
This is why you should
never talk trash
to Luka.
On the contrary, Ant-Man went nuclear on every Heat player.
Buckle up cause day 2 of the new season was chaotic.
We gotta start in Miami for the marquee matchup between the Heat
and the Wolves where Giannis
opened up his new chapter by knocking down
the first shot of the game.
it was LaMelo
and Ant early on who made
it rain from downtown.
It was a classic shootout
at the
start with Klay Thompson responding with a couple
of threes of his own on the other end. But as the
game progressed,
it turned into a showdown between Ant-Man
and the Greek Freak. Edwards struck first
but Antetokounmpo's response was vicious.
Damn, when he puts
his head down,
there's absolutely
no stopping him.
It was a tight game early in the second
when Giannis somehow pulled off a half court dunk
with no dribbles.
Chris Finch is irate on the sidelines asking for a travel,
but the ref mimics to him that
LaMelo poked the ball.
On the slow-mo, we clearly see that Giannis throws
the ball over him and travels all the
way to Greece before the flush.
So on the other side, Melo decides to get him back.
that's a travel oh my goodness travel like that has
to be called that has to be called created
an extra six eight feet of separation it's the gather step
and then four after no doubt
are you kidding me everybody in the building saw
that travel except for the ref who was right there
this is ridiculous and mellow was teased about it
in the post-game interview that one play dog
and please tell me you know you walked
on that play like you had like three gathers going to
you're right you made the shot
that's funny you know what's crazy yeah my man's was just talking
about it and i cussed his ass out on the bench
because i said if you watch i let the ball guide
you feel me so if i'm letting the ball guide
and i ain't touching it you can take as much steps as
you want so Melo it's not travel your brother Lonzo went on on X
and said that's a travel bro
lmao he hated he hated he hated see i gotta give him
a call right now because with the family
he know what you're supposed to do even
if i'm wrong i'm right that's how i go i gotta teach
Anyway, back to Ant
and Giannis
as their battle
reached
the boiling point.
This is what it's all about.
You gotta love the competitive spirit of these two,
going head to head and chirping at each
other.
Let's go!
So, Edwards continued pressing and finished the half strong.
Both guys had 21 points apiece in the first half,
but the Wolves got up by double digits heading into the break.
And coming out of it, the game quickly turned
into a one-sided affair because...
Oh
my
goodness!
The Ant-Man goes nuts from beyond the arc,
knocking down 4 more 3s in a span of 5 minutes
while trash talking everybody.
He let Giannis, Wiggins, Bam and the entire arena hear it. He had
a loud 45 points on 9 of 17 from downtown
while Melo added 21 points and 6 dimes. Fun fact is
that both guys combined
for more threes last night than 15 entire teams. That's insane.
Giannis' 35 wasn't enough as the Heat dropped the first one at home.
On the other hand, the show-time Lakers got off
to an impressive start in LA.
Heck, the first bucket of the game
was an alley-oop dunk from Luka to Kessler.
Here's to many more to come.
Walker was feasting inside the paint all night long,
getting served on a silver platter on numerous occasions.
My goodness,
the no look up
bounce pass to the
running big man
for the easy dunk.
Kessler had the perfect debut for the Lakers,
posting 26 points, 9 boards and two blocks
on a mind-boggling 12 of 12 from the field.
That's elite. But the story of the game was
Luka Doncic and Yaxel Lindeborg jawing at each other.
I don't know if you want to wake up the dragon,
but two guys who are unafraid to talk.
And there's going to be a point here as this extracurricular continues
that Luka Doncic is like me and you.
One on one. Let's get there.
Steve Kerr put Yaxel on the bench after the little incident,
but then Luka on the next play called him out.
Stop pop and hit from Doncic.
Well, without Yaxel in the game, you see Will Richard has got this.
And then he's like, come on back in here.
And Steve Kerr not going to back away
from a challenge, this is too good.
Props to coach Kerr for putting Jaxels immediately back
in to finish what he started.
With 18, Green back on the floor playing
with three fouls, another great pass.
That is six assists, beautifully done from Green.
And now Lendeborg called for a foul trying to find Doncic.
The rookie tries to play pressure defense
but Doncic baits him for the foul.
He actually played really good defense on Luka,
forcing him to shoot 0 for 5 from the field with
him as the primary
defender.
But he didn't know
when to stop talking.
On the replay, we can read
trash from Jaxels' mouth, but the talking went both ways.
I don't know why only he got a tech.
Regardless, Luka used all of it as motivation for his next magic trick.
That's for you, rookie.
Doncic had the last laugh in this one
as the Lakers toyed with the Warriors in the second
half, leading by as many as 35 points.
The clutch-time trio of Luka, AR,
and Kessler combined for 77 points in the dominant win
at the end.
But the trash-talking didn't stop there.
of flop and a lot of foul bait
and a lot of praying to the ref man interesting first game for me for
sure obviously the back
and forth with Luka you know we all saw it looks like at times maybe
trying to get in your head the back like what did you make
of of that and how do you felt like you
handled it i had a lot of respect for him you know just
because just watching i didn't really watch
the NBA much i just watched highlights seeing them
you know kill people all the time but then being
in their first hand just watching all the whining
and complaining i lost all respect man like that
He's pretty straightforward as a rookie,
but the vets and the coach all stood behind him,
saying how they like his competitiveness
and encouraged him to go right back at Luka in the
very next game. I don't know what the NBA was on last night
because we had a lot of scuffles.
Tari Eason suddenly flipped out 7 minutes into the game.
this. Oh yeah, there's no question.
Tari gets him and it's a great look right in the back.
Of course you'll get ejected. What was that all about?
In this one, we had two guys coming back
from injuries that kept them sidelined for more than a year and a half.
Fred VanVleet and Kyrie
Irving. And after a balanced first quarter, the Rockets took off.
Of course, Morris Johnson Jr.
played for him at Michigan.
Shin Goh turning the corner and ramming it down.
Jabari Smith Jr. had himself a
ball game last night scoring
30 points on 65% efficiency
and KD matched him equally.
30 for the 38-year-old on 63% shooting from the field.
The Rockets look promising this season.
Just look at the score at halftime, 70-38.
Needless to say that Houston won the game.
And things got even worse in Portland,
where the Blazers started off blazing hot going up
21-0 against the Suns. Yup, you heard that right.
Falling in such
a deep hole early
on, Booker got
pissed at Ja.
I don't blame him. I would be mad myself getting beat up like that.
The Blazers were running circles around the Suns all game long.
Lillard had an outstanding homecoming,
racking up 25 points on 6 of 10 from distance in just
24 minutes of action. That's all it took to demolish Phoenix.
And I liked Morant's role
last night as he did more playmaking dishing out eight assists
while taking only eight shots for
14 points total.
Another high-profile duo
was bowling out
in Washington as well.
Washington has 14 of their 18 points coming in the paint.
And there might be more right here.
AD and one.
Counts a foul on Khalil Ware.
Anthony Davis had the debut of his dreams,
posting 34 points and 12 boards on 55% shooting from the field.
But no one expected to hear this from the crowd.
Drew, hold on.
This might have never happened in Capital One Arena.
With 4-16 remaining in the first quarter,
they're chanting MVP for Anthony Davis.
Wait a minute, he had a fire debut in Dallas as well,
don't you remember?
I guess all those empty years lowered their standards.
Nevertheless, the fans have another guy to cheer for.
Despite an off-shooting night,
Trae Young left his imprint with 13 assists in the home
win opener.
Moving on to Toronto now,
where everything was set for Kawhi's comeback.
Leonard rocked
the afro
and rocked the crowd
with his first bucket
after making his first three-pointer
the claw started struggling missing his next eight shots
from the field he had a rough shooting night going 5 of 17
but still managed to put up 23
points with 11 coming from the free throw line
his teammates backed him up though building a
huge lead
in the second quarter.
All three of Quickly,
Barnes and Barrett
scored 20 plus points
as well, leading the Raptors to a dominant win at the end.
And speaking of that, no one in Memphis
expected to see this from Ty Jerome.
What?
Ty Jerome pulls up a casual logo 3
with 16 seconds on the shot clock and nails it to
send the fans into a delirium.
He was on fuego last night scoring a career high 45 points
on 68% efficiency in the surprising
win over Utah.
Man, what a night in the NBA!
Judging by the first couple of days,
this is going to be one hell of a season!
And in case you missed all the craziness from day one,
here's my video recap to check
it out!
Talk to you in the next one!
Peace
out!
