After a gorgeous bus ride on ADO we settle in to Centro Historico (Historical Center) area of Merida Yucatan quickly so we can get to exploring...our plans are briefly sidelined by a suspect meal but not to worry, you can't keep Kate down for long and before you know it we're out wandering the streets enroute to the famous Slow Food Market in Merida. We also find an excellent source for full bodied delicious coffee (details provided in the video) and visit the most eclectically cool gallery/shop we've ever visited. And we're just getting started in Merida!

Exciting six-hour bus ride. We made it to Marana. Very nice ride. Comfortable bus.
Now we're just waiting for Uber. Just waiting on our ride to our Airbnb.
All right let's show you the Airbnb. Wonderful patio.
They even gave you big soap. Big soap. Which is a luxury.
Comfortable bed. It's firm. Well we were thinking of
a lower plate. You get mucho high fives. And the people. They are so sweet and nice.
We weren't even going to film tonight but I'm having my very first
which is a turkey soup.
That's rich.
Has turkey in it. Cilantro. I like it.
That is a jamaica. You know when it's only a couple places more to have the big one
you gotta order the big one. Okay.
Okay back to our non-filming night.
Oh what the heck. Let's just keep filming.
This is my very first vino black which is a Marana special. It has an egg on top with turkey.
And the voice you hear in the background is going to explain the rest.
Turkey pork and spicy chilies.
It tastes of spicy chili.
It's very simple but it's really good.
It has subtle flavors.
It's really good. Messy but good.
Okay now we'll stop filming for the night. Maybe.
Maybe we didn't pick so good for dinner last night. Katie has been wiped out vomiting all night.
Katie's still down and out so I'm on a mission to bring her back some soup because she thinks
she can eat it now. So one more thing to love about Merida. Laundry washed,
dried and folded for 10 pesos a kilo which at current rates works out to about a dollar a pound.
So nice. Oh yeah. It's a couple days later. I'm back in action and ready to explore Merida.
Right now we're passing through Parque de Santiago. It's a gorgeous little historical
park right next to our Airbnb in the heart of the historic center of Merida.
Apparently the thing to do on Saturday morning is go to the slow food market.
According to Google it's a 25 minute walk from Parque de Santiago. So that's where we're headed now.
We're at the slow food market and let me read it to you because I'm not really good at going off
the top of my head. Slow food is an international movement based in Italy which promotes local
production of food preservation, original culinary traditions and healthy eating. Slow food Yucatan
is an official chapter of the international slow food movement. Let's go check it out.
I couldn't resist quiche Lorraine. They looked amazing.
I have to say this is a great way to spend a Saturday morning.
All right I'm gonna need you to count the change. More bread darling. I love my bread. Ten.
Yum. Oh I'm gonna have a good day. That's really good bread.
Well if you're gonna have a good day we're all gonna have a good day.
It's from nine to one but come early because the good stuff sells out fast.
Oh when Swedes go wild we go ******* crazy. There's so many interesting things to see in
Tenerife and we were invited to a vintage clothes gallery. This is Marjorie and she owns this
beautiful gallery which is going to tell you a little bit more about it. My name is Chris and
you are in La Malaguita in Mérida, Mexico. This evening it is a gentleman's evening featuring
part of our collection. Pieces that I've been collecting for six years specifically from the
1970s. Jackets and vests and ties and all sorts of fun stuff. I also have a collection of about 250
dresses. Vintage Mexican that we're working on. We're working on a book project about the dresses.
They're a really unique expression of Mexican art. We have my line Marjorie Scurris Design.
We have a great website Marjorie Scurris Home Accessories and furniture using semi-furnished
materials. Everything is being produced currently in Mérida. We are also really proud to be able to
have our gallery focusing on Mexican and Latin right now by Anne Frey. The Cora people are great.
It's really stunning. They are stunningly beautiful and very socially. Come and stop by. We are in
Santiago at Calle 59, number 870. Third facade with the two fallen trees. You won't be disappointed.
Thank you. Well, welcome to Mérida. We just got to Mérida and we already found our dealer.
Are you filming? Oh yeah. All right, how are you doing? I finished YouTube.
Like, thumbs up and subscribe. That was good. That was good.
