We continue our trek around the gorgeous state of Maine and discover just how deeply "Lobster Culture" runs in these parts. I'm not saying they take it too far...but I ate Lobster Ice Cream. Bar Harbor is popular for a reason, and that reason is it's absolutely gorgeous. No trip here would be complete with a trek to the top of Cadillac Mountain for some of the best views on Earth and some hiking through the pristine wilderness of Acadia National Park.

Well, we made it to Bar Harbor.
Really cool looking little town.
Not sure if we're going to stay yet.
This is the breakfast at
our B&B.
Look Jamie!
Has hash browns, my favorite thing in the world.
Very good.
We're still in Bar Harbor
and we're staying at the White Columns Inn.
Great little B&B.
Not an Air B&B, just an actual
B&B.
Fantastic breakfast. The hosts are wonderful.
The rooms are really nice.
Very comfortable.
And very affordable, right here in the middle of Bar Harbor.
We're off to explore the town
and then maybe do a little hiking.
So the weather is not perfect, but it's still nice out.
And of course we got here
the day after they started
doing parking.
Pay parking.
But we have a hotel,
so that's okay.
That's why we stayed downtown.
Wild roses.
I love them.
Match your dress.
It can't beat the view.
My view for sure.
So our trip along has been my dream
type of trip. I love going to
all these places, but I want them to be
no people. And that's what's here.
And it's totally skewing
how these places are, but I love it.
That's a really good point.
It's just amazing.
We can go everywhere. It's peaceful.
It's so nice.
And I know it's not true.
Not to sound antisocial.
No, but we are.
But we like peace.
This is the shore path and
it started in 1881.
Or should I say it was built in 1881.
I thought that said
1981.
It's a little bit older than that.
It's amazing how clear
the water is here.
Oh, there's my dream right there.
Captain Ron in the house.
Nice and sunny.
We were talking to our innkeeper
and he said
the way it is right now is
the way it used to be 30 years ago.
So that's pretty amazing.
Would have loved it then.
Really like it now.
Lilacs. I have to get it in
before we leave.
But they don't last very long.
I'll stay right here.
I'll meet you back here in an hour.
And my allergies go
ha-choo.
The clouds cleared just a little bit
and some sun came out so we are going
to head up to Acadia National Park
and see if we can get a little hike in up there.
If the clouds come back we'll
go back home. We're not that hardcore.
Don't miss the opportunity while you're in Bar Harbor
to just take the drive around the island.
Stay on Highway 3.
It's absolutely gorgeous.
Stop off at Seal Harbor where we're at now.
There's a ton of little pull outs
and just the most beautiful scenery.
I have
nothing to say to that. Sorry.
Not as good as Ravens but
I'll settle for crows.
Want to head up into Acadia National Park?
Yeah, let's go see what it looks like.
Oh crap. I dropped my phone.
And I hope it's just
the screen protector but I have a
bad feeling.
Please won't it be the screen protector?
My new phone.
Your brand new iPhone 11.
You can't beat this for a lunch view.
Wow.
There's beavers here.
Right there to be
precise.
This hike is about 3 miles and
it's well worth it. It's beautiful.
One of the most beautiful hikes we've been on in quite a while.
Yeah. I was going to say awesome.
It's pretty easy
too except for a little bit of
rock climbing a little bit.
Kate's footwear is
What's that?
Birkenstocks, a dress
and a cute smile.
Exactly. For our next installment
of wow for the day
this is Cadillac Mountain.
That is Bar Harbor.
Welcome to the view from Acadia
National Park.
Well if you come to Bar Harbor you definitely got to come
up to the top of Cadillac Mountain.
This is lobster ice cream.
Usually Kate
does the taste tests but
the fat guy is doing the lobster ice cream.
I hate to admit it
that's not bad. It's very buttery.
It's like a buttercream.
That's not bad. I thought that would be
terrible.
That's fantastic actually.
That's the Bar Island path
behind us. You can only cross over to that island
during low tide so off we go.
You want to risk it?
Absolutely
not. Nine hours. It's almost
dark and we're cold blooded.
We could swim back.
That's true but that would be really cold.
Off we go.
You would be hard pressed to have a more awesome day than we had in Bar Harbor.
The weather started out a little
crappy but we just stuck with it
and then it got gorgeous. We went on some amazing
hikes. We got to hit Bar Island
during low tide. We had amazing ice
cream. I couldn't imagine
fitting anymore into this place. It's just
a fantastic little location.
It's been beautiful and peaceful.
We got to see it without throngs of tourists
because it's still just barely open.
I think we've ruined ourselves for
future trips to Bar Harbor.
Now we're going to figure out if I broke it
or it's fixable.
Please.
Shattered screen. Let's hope the screen protector
did it's work.
Look at that baby.
Screen protectors.
They're awesome. Oh my goodness.
That hit a rock.
Katie was pretty depressed I'll have you know.
I was.
That her phone was broken.
I mean these things are outrageously
expensive. Even when you get the
well they're just outrageously
expensive. And I felt bad enough
that I didn't even tease her.
That's amazing.
So that's a
tethys glass.
We paid for that. That's not a free plug
but definitely worth it.
Keep drinking this coffee.
Click the thumbs up and subscribe.
Now that was good.
That was good.
