Our first day in Arizona was a blast! We ate lots of delicious food and drank some delicious coffee in Scottsdale and hiked one of our favorite trails of the trip: Cathedral Rock in Sedona.

Look at this view!
Look at this!
I am headed to Phoenix to meet up with our friends Callie and Michael and to see Adam.
I've not seen Adam in six days because he's been in Austin working on the van.
And I'm so excited!
I haven't seen Catherine in almost a week and I miss her.
Can't wait to see her so I'm going to see her here in a few hours and we'll see you then.
We're reunited!
Good morning from Scottsdale, Arizona!
We arrived really late last night.
We were super hungry which is why we went to In-N-Out.
Got some sleep and now we're ready to conquer the day.
We're bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.
So we're here in Arizona for the next five days.
We're going to Scottsdale, Sedona, Grand Canyon, and Page.
Super pumped.
So I've mentioned this before but I'm originally from Arizona.
So from birth to eight years old I lived just like 20 minutes south of Scottsdale.
So Adam's never been to this part of Arizona, only Tucson.
So I'm super pumped to have him see kind of where I grew up.
And I never saw the Grand Canyon when I lived here.
So I'm really excited to finally make it there.
So it should be really fun.
But the best part...
Our friends Callie and Michael are with us!
First things first, recce.
We are at Farm and Craft in Old Town, Scottsdale.
I got a traditional American breakfast.
Sweet potato hash, two eggs, bacon, grilled veggies.
And Kathryn got her odd assortment of sides.
My bad breakfast right here.
It looks really good though.
Just not as good as Adam's.
So obviously our next stop was to get coffee!
And we're going to do a bang-bang.
So what a bang-bang is, is when you hit up two places back-to-back.
So we just went to Berdina's in Old Town, Scottsdale to get Americanos.
And we're about to go to this place called Rue's Cake House that Callie found.
They serve these bubble tea drinks with cotton candy on top.
So, uh-oh.
I'm a little excited for that.
Yeah, it looks really cool.
So we're going to walk there and go check that out too.
Look at this!
This is so cool.
So we're at Rue's, which is the cutest place ever.
Shout out to Callie for finding this.
So we got the chai milk boba.
So there's the boba at the bottom, which I've never tried.
So I'm going to try that.
And then there's chai, and then there's cotton candy.
Cotton candy's on the straw.
Do I just...
I got a ball in my mouth.
That's good.
I'm like a texture person, so.
I think I've said this before, but textures kind of weird me out.
Which is why trying poke was a little scary for me.
But this is actually really delicious.
And the little balls aren't that weird.
That's really good.
Old Town Scottsdale.
Super cool around here.
Yeah, it's like a western themed area.
So we love theme towns, I should say.
Like Leavenworth in Washington, which is like Bavarian themed.
Just really fun to walk around.
A little touristy, but still really, really cool.
And in typical A plus K fashion, we are getting more to eat.
Our itinerary is just like eat, walk, eat, walk, repeat.
Rinse, wash, repeat.
Walk to make room for more food in our stomach.
So this is kind of the only day we're really going to be eating out a lot.
So we're trying to take advantage of the cool spots that they already eat in Scottsdale.
And it should be no surprise, but we're eating...
Tacos!
We're at a place called Diego Pops, which is not only the cutest place ever.
The inside's super cool.
They have this really awesome outdoor patio.
The food looks amazing too.
Some kind of unique spins on some tacos.
We had plantains and chips with salsa and guacamole.
I'm so excited I can't talk.
So I got the two pork pineapple tacos and a steak taco.
And then Adam got a shrimp taco, a chicken taco, and also the pork taco too.
So Diego Pops.
Mom.
Tacos.
And they have the coolest sauces.
This pink sauce is sour cream, beets, and garlic.
And it is super good.
And to continue our Scottsdale Stuff Your Face Fest, we're going to go get more coffee.
We got our caffeine and we're ready to go.
Our next stop is Sedona, Arizona.
So our time in Scottsdale was really short, but we will be back on the last day of our trip.
So we're going to be in Sedona the rest of the day and then tomorrow.
We're really excited because we hear it's gorgeous there.
So we're going to do some hiking.
Our plans for tonight are very up in the air because it might be raining.
So we're going to see how it is when we get there.
Hopefully squeezing a hike, but if not, find something else fun to do, I guess.
We made it to Sedona and look at the view from our Airbnb.
How excited is everyone on a scale of 1 to 10?
10!
12!
So our original plan was to hike to Cathedral Rock at sunset.
But on the way here, it was really rainy and we weren't really sure if we could do it still.
So we went back and forth on the plan.
What should we do?
What hike?
But here we are.
Hi, doggo.
Here we are.
We're hiking Cathedral Rock.
Rain can't keep us away.
It's a threat.
It looks like we might have a small window, so we're going to go do it.
So this hike is like 1.4 miles round trip, but it's really steep uphill.
So apparently it's like climb rocks and stuff.
So I'm already out of breath from vlogging and hiking.
So we'll see how it goes.
So the hike actually wasn't that bad.
You definitely had to climb on some rocks, but it was pretty easy, pretty quick.
Definitely had us breathing.
And we actually have the whole place to ourselves right now.
There's no one up here, which is crazy.
I think the rain scared some people off.
And so far, nothing's slick.
So, yay.
So beautiful up here.
Man, it's a short, short hike for an awesome payoff.
Yeah.
Sedona, we love you.
Great start.
Awesome start.
Look at this view.
We found this awesome rock tower.
So if you are at the viewpoint, when you get to the end of the trail, just go to the left
and then there's a big rock, go to the right around it.
And here it is.
And no one's here.
This is so great.
All right, headed down to the car, down from Cathedral Rock.
The walk down is not that bad so far.
We thought it might be really slick, but we haven't fallen yet.
We've had a few minor slips, but no falls.
Been dodging the rain the whole time.
Yeah, it's raining a little bit, but it has not poured on us yet either.
So we're really glad we made this decision to come here.
I don't think we would have had time for our backup hike.
So we're going to save that for tomorrow.
We did it!
That's the end of day one.
Had a lot of yummy food.
Had a really fun hike.
It was awesome.
So much fun already.
Tomorrow we're going to do two hikes.
One for sunrise and then we're going to head to the Grand Canyon.
I cannot wait.
I am so excited.
Can't wait to see it.
Look at this view!
I have a beard.
Ready.
