I went skiing for the first time in Hokkaido Japan. Skiing in Niseko has been a dream of mine and it was everything I thought it would be. Also can't forget about all the food to eat in between runs. We went for a crab feast, as well as local ramen which is covered in mashed potatoes and cheese.
This is a pretty darn good buffet they have here. Eggs are so soft with a batch of ketchup on the side.
I can't eat eggs without ketchup.
These are some of the best, if not the best,
breakfast buffet scrambled eggs I've ever had in my life. I mean the texture is just, oh, I mean
this is very representative of Japan.
So creamy. Wow.
Oh, put the creamy scrambled eggs with some of that soba.
Creamy noodles
with a slab of bacon.
I brought these because I didn't know what the buffet was gonna be good. I don't need it.
This buffet is awesome and quality is so good. Can't get enough of these scrambled eggs.
I will pay money for this at a restaurant. Yo, try it. Try it. Try it. Let me know.
Oh, you are so Japanese. You put a salted plum on top. How good is that?
Did you like it? I think anything in Japan is amazing. Wow, suck up.
Is it? Oh, it could be. It could be right? Fluffy butter. Oh, man.
Yo, we should drink the milk here. We went to an ice cream place with the Hokkaido milk in it.
Yeah, gotta go to that.
My ramen's ready.
This is like one of my favorite ramen. I like, I know there's a lot of stuff on this buffet,
but I had to eat one.
Beyond imagining.
I'm ready for the slopes.
This is just like unimaginably
beautiful. You can't see because it's foggy over there, but there's a giant mountain in the fog.
This resort, I mean, it's just so serene. It's not too many people. This is busy season. It's not even that many people here.
Unfortunately, it's not that great snow either.
It's so nice being in Japan and skiing with just the gorgeous mountain in the background and you know,
you got ramen waiting for you when you're off to lunch.
We're like skiing in a horror movie right now.
I mean, it's kind of over there with the trees. Let's do this.
Yeah, what do you want?
Don't hit my hand.
That was like a fail. I was trying to hit my camera. That's pretty.
It's snowing.
It wasn't snowing when we were skiing. It's just snowing now. It's so magical.
I love Japan. I love this country so freaking much. If I could marry this country, I would buy a ring tomorrow.
Where did you go that I haven't been? Japan number one. Have you been to Cuba? No, we cannot find a single place that's open.
We've been to like 20 restaurants. They're all closed for lunch. So this is the only place we could find.
Yeah, we were about to go to like McDonald's or something. We're about to eat the snow. Yeah, the yellow snow.
It's baked potato. It's amazing. Wow. It's so good.
Fried chicken. What is it? Miso soup?
Miso soup.
Why are we so impressed over it?
We know what miso soup supposed to look like.
So excited.
I ain't gonna fight it.
That is some good sukiyaki. The sauce is great with the rice.
All right, lunch time. Then we're gonna head back into the slopes and then we're gonna get some dinner.
Isn't this great? Skiing in Japan. Usually after you ski in like like Vancouver or Colorado,
you just eat like burgers or something. Here, tonight, when all the restaurants are open, that's when we're gonna feast.
You guys want some cheese tart?
Look at it. Look at cheese tart.
This looks good. Yo, look at it. They have like some kind of, oh, they got Hokkaido yogurt.
Yogurt? Oh, I want that. Wait, who makes them fresh? One yogurt drink?
You guys want to just get a box or something?
Oh, it's thick. Oh, it tastes like a Beijing yogurt. Yummy. Oh, man.
This thing just like reached into my soul and comforted me. Look how gooey and creamy.
People come in here just taking off their shoes randomly.
It's like, please do not take off shoes. It's gross. We're at this crab restaurant that we found.
They do a set menu. This is so nice. Are you cold?
You're from Canada.
That is not true.
Octopus and crab jelly.
First course appetizer, crab jelly in octopus.
It tastes like jelly.
Like the octopus.
Eating it on its own and then they recommend dipping it in the vinegar sauce.
Then they recommend dipping it in all the innards of the crab.
Yeah, that's what they call it. It's tamale. It's good.
Look at this guy. You should just move here.
Wow, this thing is sweet. Crab lollipop.
So we get the crab and then we get a hot pot.
Oh, this is snow crab.
Wow, it's so good.
This hot pot, they don't add a lot of anything else. It's just like these awesome ingredients.
Some crab meat with that miso, which is the crab innards on top, is
just one of the most ridiculous things you will ever have when it comes to seafood. Just the richness and the natural umami flavor.
Do you like innards? It's incredible.
You like innards? She doesn't even like the innards.
Not a true crab lover like us.
King crab is really what this region is known for, Hokkaido is known for.
And you smell it. There's nothing on here. They don't use any, not even salt. It's just
pure charcoal and king crab. That's all it is.
Wow.
Are you good? There's a sweet crab flavor.
And the smokiness of that charcoal, that's it. Nothing is as fresh as
it is here.
And they are known for their king crab. I mean, this is literally just from the waters to your plate.
As fresh as you can get. Sweet flavor just completely retained in the crab. Come here and try this.
Hokkaido ice cream.
If you've never had Hokkaido ice cream before, or Hokkaido milk, add that to the bucket list because
it's some of the best milk and of course best ice cream you'll ever have in your life.
Unlike anything you've ever had before.
And day two. All right, lunch time. Niseko ramen. This place is supposed to be really good.
All right, so here's the thing. We've had a heck of a time trying to eat here in the last couple of days.
Like everywhere we go, if it says it's closed at three and we show up at two,
it's like
we couldn't find anything in the last like week. Mashed potato ramen, also known as potato's butt plug.
I'm still eating it. I don't care. We have put it into effect and we have tested it and we can tell you that
we concur. I think so.
Oh garlic in the mame.
All right, definitely going for the spicy miso ramen.
And then you can make it electric. Try the new Japanese trend of spicy ramen.
I'll try the new Japanese trend of spicy ramen. Do my dance.
My pre-ramen dance. Yeah.
There it is. There you go.
Do the noodle dance.
Noodle-chan.
This is the electric spice that they have. It smells predominantly like just like peppercorn. It's just crushed peppercorn.
It's pretty much just peppercorn.
That's probably not worth the extra two bucks. They marketed it really well.
Electric Japanese spice. I pointed to the wrong ramen. Now it's just the spicy miso. I didn't get the potatoes. That should have been mine.
I got the wrong one. I'm so sad.
Yeah.
These noodles look great. Oh first bowl of ramen in Japan. Oh it smells so good.
Wow noodle texture is amazing. It's so chewy and hearty. It's spicy. Add my two dollars worth of electric. The soup
It's thick and creamy. Kind of have like a almost like a fermented bean flavor to it. Really nice miso flavor.
The peppercorn made it kind of into like a dan dan men almost.
If you're like
old
Just came down from the slopes. This is like perfect. Perfect food.
I like the broth.
Noodles are great. I wouldn't add that electric thing. That really doesn't add much to it.
All right, we got we got meal number two after this though. We're not done.
Right? Apparently we're going to the best sandwiches in the world. Ooh sandwich and burgers in this little cargo container.
Sorry, no toilet here. I hope not. Such a little charming place with a stove, wood, small kitchen.
Yeah, it's very charming. Such a cool little shop.
Looks pretty damn good.
Ooh sandwich looks good.
The bread is good, but you will sustain injuries.
When you're biting it. You will. It's like the captain crunch of sandwiches. It's really good though. Good meat, good crunch from the veggies. Nice seasoning.
I wish I had the ramen with the sandwich because you could dip the hard bread into the broth.
That would soften the bread up a little bit.
That's good. It's kind of a cool open fish sandwich. Ham and cheese on top.
I think the roast beef is the best one. Good balance of meat and this is heavy. It's good, but it's heavy.
What are we eating for dinner? I'm starving already. Uni. Yummy. So good.
I'm getting that. Whatever they say is yummy. So good. I'm getting that. Wait, so this is the Hokkaido.
Is it? Yeah, look. But it seems like a lot of space for just like six rolls. That's all they wanted to put.
All right, we're getting ice cream. All right, get a ticket. You can get your ice cream. Definitely blueberry.
Ooh rum raisin too. Well, that's a seasonal tiramisu. I'll take rum raisin. Thank you.
How's that? How's that? Is it better than the one we had yesterday? It's the same.
What's better?
What?
How's that possible?
We're in Hokkaido, you gotta have a Hokkaido ice cream.
So good, the milk. It's just so incredibly creamy.
It's just that unique Hokkaido flavor. It's like the cows are just, they've been eating butter their whole lives. This is so adorable. Look at this.
Little cats, miniature cats, glass.
So cute.
Oh
Look how clear everything is.
Oh, wow, look at that mountain.
Ale and Melissa are gone. So today I'm hitting the slopes by myself.
Wow.
This is the clearest that mountain's ever been of all the days we've been here.
See what it looks like from the top.
Crazy. I'm at the top right now.
Go buddy. There he goes.
Wow.
This is the best ski day so far. Look at this, all fresh powder.
Just, this is like a painting right now.
Like seriously.
Last run of the day. Just gonna
treasure this a little bit. You know, I've always wanted to live in this country. I've said it for
the past year. I wanted to move here. It just never worked out. After this week,
I'm gonna start looking for a place.
I just feel
better here. I mean, it's got a ton of active volcanoes for such a small island, but
what a way to go.
Well, that's it. Three days of skiing. Felt like it flew by. Now, let's head to Tokyo.
Oh man, that was crazy. So I got here and my flight was delayed by three hours because of mechanical problems.
Luckily, they booked me on an earlier flight. So
this airport, I actually wanted to spend more time here. This airport is actually
considered one of the greatest food airports in this country. Like tons of food stalls.
I'll be back though, but I'm gonna see if I can grab a quick bowl of ramen before I get on the flight.
I have about an hour before my plane departs and
so hungry. I'm gonna see if I can grab something really, really, really quick.
All seafood. Oh my god, this looks so good.
Found this cool udon place. Tempura is a little, probably not as crunchy as it could be.
It's still good.
Got some beef udon.
Not the best udon I've ever had,
but something that came out of an airport. This is pretty delicious.
Super bouncy fresh noodles. Oh, this broth is amazing. It's a light colored broth, but crazy intense beef flavor.
Nothing to eat all day and I'm not eating until about 6 p.m.
So, oh man, so happy to have something warm and soupy and noodley in my stomach.
That was kind of scary.
They just all popped out of their outer shell. Like I said, I've only got like an hour before my flight takes off. So I gotta
finish eating.
Get through security.
See you in Tokyo. I think before my flight, one more Hokkaido ice cream.
I could just live off ice cream here. Ice cream and cheese, milk, yogurt, best milk in the world.
There's nothing creamier that's ever came out of a cow than this. Whoa, look at this. They have these little
baggies for your luggage.
Another delay.
All right, I guess I'm not leaving for another two and a half hours. This flight is three hour delay.
It's delayed so long. The storm passed. It's now a beautiful sunny day.
First taste of Wagyu in Tokyo.
All-you-can-eat buffet.
Shabu-shabu.
I'd die happy right now. This is my favorite shabu place in all of Tokyo. Oh, there's so much to eat.
That was,
that was awesome shabu.
Great being back in Tokyo. Saturday night. Look at this.
Just thriving everywhere. Just hopping full of people. Feels like home. All right, gotta go back to hotel. Gotta work out.
I've been skiing but I haven't been going to the gym.
First gym session in the week.
And then the purpose of me being on this trip is actually I was invited by a company, a food company.
They wanted to take me on a very private, very exclusive food tour.
So that's what's happening and that will begin day after tomorrow.
But today, tomorrow just gonna relax, hang out a little bit, meet a few people for food and then
exclusive food tour begins. All right, guys. Thanks so much for watching.
Good night.
