A big slap for SpaceX & Nasa: Suddenly China rose to the No.1 position of the space industry
China has passed its "century of humiliation".
And now, they are aiming to become the next space ruler.
With the significant efforts, the billion-people country is expected to beat the whole rocket industry.
More on this in today’s episode of Great SpaceX!
A big slap for SpaceX & Nasa: Suddenly China rose to the No.1 position of the space industry
According to the data of Bryce SpaceTech, China surpassed Spacex to lead Q3 in both the number and payload mass of orbital rocket launches.
Thus, it is clear that the country has come a long way in catching up with the United States and Russia, top names in space exploration.
In 2019, China became the first country to land a probe on the far side of the moon, the part that perpetually faces away from Earth. It also was China’s second successful moon landing, after one in 2013. A big slap for SpaceX & Nasa: Suddenly China rose to the No.1 position of the space industry
The Chang'e 4 lander carrying the Yutu 2 rover touched down in Von Kármán Crater on Jan. 2, 2019, and the robotic mission has been exploring the unique area of our celestial neighbor ever since. And now, the historic mission is still going strong, far beyond the three months it was expected to last.
In December, China sent yet another craft to the moon. It scooped up nearly 4 pounds of rocks and soil near a volcanic feature called Mons Rümker and brought them back to Earth — the first lunar samples since the ones collected by the Soviet Union’s Luna 24 mission in 1976. Some of the samples were put on public display in Beijing with great fanfare.
Moreover, three more are planned by 2027, featuring additional rovers, a flying probe, and even a proposed experiment in 3D printing in space, according to statements from China’s space agency. A big slap for SpaceX & Nasa: Suddenly China rose to the No.1 position of the space industry
The missions are meant to lay the foundation for a lunar base and visits by astronauts, or taikonauts, as the Chinese call them, in the 2030s.
In March, Russia’s space agency, Roscosmos, said it would work with China on the construction of a lunar research station, though the countries have yet to offer details of any joint plans.
