Old Soldiers Chapel at Los Angeles V.A. 2 Churches in 1 !
Old Soldiers Chapel secret design. Why does it have 2 steeples?! Host Pat Pattison explores this amazing historic building on the grounds of the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. We also search for an old Los Angeles Pacific Railroad stop that was also a part of the old soldiers facility started for Civil War vets during Lincoln's presidency. One of Lincoln's last acts as President established care for volunteer as well as career military. The facility was known as the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers and was established in 1887 on 300 acres of Rancho San Vicente and Sana Monica land. In 1890 an additional 200 acres was added with 20 acres becoming a veterans cemetery the current Los Angeles National Cemetery. The Los Angeles Pacific Railroad stop we discovered was a part of the famous Balloon Line which was a excursion trip that went from downtown Los Angeles out to the beach and back in a circular loop or a "balloon".
