Chelsea are still actively working to sign Josco Barton. So Chelsea are there,
they are still in touch with people close to the player, they are still in touch with
Red Bull Leipzig and the relationship is great because I told you that Chelsea have almost
signed Christopher Kunkku from Leipzig for June 2023. It's a done deal so here we go for Kunkku
to Chelsea. Hey guys welcome back here on the channel Fabrizio Romano as always with you to
and today guys we touch on one of the best talents in the world in general and in his position
probably the best talent in this moment Josco Gvardiol the Croatian center back. He's doing
fantastic at the World Cup, he's always doing fantastic with Red Bull Leipzig so let's jump
into his future together. And so guys this boy Josco Gvardiol born in January 2002. Imagine he's
super young and he's doing incredible things. He's already a starter of course with Red Bull
Leipzig. He started in Croatian football and with the national team now this World Cup has been the
key point of his career because he's really doing incredible. So first of all congrats to Josco
Gvardiol because he's not just a top talent but he's also a top professional with a great mentality
so he's more than a special player. He's also a very great guy. I'm told that this is something
really appreciated in the dressing room of Croatian national team of Leipzig and this is
never a detail when we speak about young guys becoming stars. This is a really important point
and also what happens with his future but let's touch on his past because in August I told you
in the final days of August that Chelsea have made an official bid to sign Josco Gvardiol
at the end of summer 2022 but for summer 2023 so to let him stay one season alone to Leipzig
and then to join Chelsea in 2023. This was the plan. Tod Boley offered 80 million euros guaranteed
plus 5 million euros in add-ons but the answer from Red Bull Leipzig after being tempted by that
bid because it was a huge one was to say no. They decided to refuse. They decided to keep Josco
Gvardiol at the club and to extend his contract. So Josco Gvardiol in September signed a new deal
with Red Bull Leipzig but it's important to say that the expectation internally at the club and
people close to the player is clear. Josco Gvardiol will change in 2023. He will have the chance to
join a top club in 2023. This is the plan. We will see if it will be January. We will see if it will
be in the summer but Josco Gvardiol will have a top move in 2023. This is the expectation. Also
important to say that this was already discussed when he extended the contract so Red Bull Leipzig
are open to letting go when they will receive the best proposal. What happens now? Chelsea are still
actively working to sign Josco Gvardiol. So Chelsea are there. They are still in touch with
people close to the player. They are still in touch with Red Bull Leipzig and the relationship
is great because I told you that Chelsea have almost signed Christopher Kunkka from Leipzig
for June 2023. It's a done deal so it's a here we go for Kunkka to Chelsea but the relationship
with Leipzig is very good and this is why they are still actively working to sign Josco Gvardiol.
But I can tell you that as of today beginning of December is still not a done deal. We can't say
that it's done for Josco Gvardiol to Chelsea. There is still some work to do but Chelsea are
working to sign Josco Gvardiol. He spoke to the Athletic and he said that Chelsea are really
attractive club to him. He also spoke to Relevo in Spain and he said that Real Madrid are the
biggest club in the world so Josco Gvardiol is keeping all the options open. At the moment there
are still no official bids on the table of Red Bull Leipzig but Chelsea are there. The player was
so clear on Real Madrid. Let me say that last summer Tottenham were interested in Josco Gvardiol
looking for a left-footed centre-back but then at the end there was no agreement to sign the player.
The player was too expensive but also important to say that Manchester City have always been
tracking Gvardiol. They had a chance also to move on Gvardiol last summer. They decided to do a
different kind of strategy to invest on Erling Haaland and of course to sign Akanji at the end
of the market but many clubs are tracking Gvardiol. Not only Chelsea but of course Chelsea have already
started this process to negotiate for Gvardiol and this is why they are still actively working
to sign him. But the race is still open and one key point. I'm told that it's not true that the
release clause in the contract of Josco Gvardiol is around 40-45 million euros. This is not the fee
to sign Josco Gvardiol. This is what I'm told at the moment. Let's see what's next for this fantastic
centre-back but the clause is not 40 or 45 millions. The clause is different. So let's see what's next.
I will keep you posted but Josco Gvardiol is absolutely one to watch on the market. And so guys
let me know your thoughts on Gvardiol top centre-back. I want your opinion. Where do you think he will
end up? Send me your comments here as always. Remember to like this video, turn on the notification bell
and see you soon with Fabrizio Romano. Ciao!
