Catch & Cook Pheasant Hunting With The Firebox Wood Fueled Camping Stove!
I was invited to join a private pheasant hunt (Birds were farm raised) with family and thought it would be nice to cook up some of the harvest right in the field. We were running out of daylight, so we chose to cut out the breast meat and saved to rest of the meat to take home. Tasted amazing! Fried the still warm breast meat from a ring neck pheasant and a chucker in lots of butter. II ran the Firebox Stove on charcoal, which worked out perfectly!
A special thanks to my cousins who were nice enough to let me tag along.

Did you hit it both times?
Why'd you shoot it again for?
Nice and proud.
Good girl.
Good girl. Hey, hey.
Good girl. Alright.
Good dog.
Beautiful.
Hey, there you go.
Keep going forward.
Keep going. Come on up here, Jake.
It's right at the end of this tall stuff.
Oh, I see it.
Oh. More than one.
Another one.
I thought I saw something move. Right there.
Chuck her. Chuck her. Chuck her. Get it.
What a good dog. Hey, right here.
That's a pretty one.
That's one of the pretty ones.
Since we're frying, we're gonna need a little more heat.
So, let's stack it up this certain way.
And it makes it pump out a lot more heat
than what charcoal would normally produce.
You just gotta make sure you have the center open
so it can just draw the air through and funnel it up
to create that thermal column.
Some good meat on these.
Just follow their breastbone down.
Then you follow it over here.
There's nugget. There you go.
There's one.
Keep the feathers away, huh?
Yep.
Same thing, just a little bit bigger.
Follow that breastbone down.
You can see this.
That's the tender right there.
Oh, yeah.
Follow that down.
That is a little more tender, huh?
Yep.
Bigger piece of meat, too.
Yeah, that's nice.
Yeah.
That's awesome.
Little camp cleanup.
You forgot one.
Okay, I'm gonna get it.
No BBs in those.
Oh, that's nice.
You can chew with confidence.
Is that your large skid or is it the small one?
This is the small one.
This is the 8-inch.
Oh, cool.
Hey, if you're on the hunt,
you gotta eat some of the kill.
Right. That's why you do it.
That's nice, huh?
I'm gonna move over here, okay, Finny?
Because I'm putting my hand right in front of the camera.
Wow, look at that.
Beautiful pieces of meat.
Yeah.
Better be careful.
That whole end of that butter's gonna fall off in there.
That was the right way to do this.
Yeah, this is nice.
Perfect.
That one still has its little tender attached.
We always look forward to the pheasant hunt every year.
These are the pheasant hunt
or the chicken tree hunt.
So I'm gonna turn the temperature down
by kind of closing off that thermal column.
The air won't flow quite as fast.
Slow it down a little bit.
There's a lot of different ways to cook them,
but this one's always good
and quick and easy to fry them up.
Yeah, just fry them up.
That piece right there, I don't know why,
but that just looks so good to me.
I'm gonna put a little more salt and pepper on this side.
Some of these little pieces are probably ready.
Those tenders are probably ready to eat.
You think that one's done?
That's probably done.
All these little pieces are done.
We'll get that one to separate.
It's probably done, too.
You guys want to try some of that?
Yes, I do.
Thank you very much.
There we go.
Take some of that, Dylan.
Let's see this.
Are they cooked all the way through?
Are we good?
That was delicious.
Here.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
Thanks for inviting me out on this hunt.
Oh, you bet.
These are probably done now, too.
This is the best meal I've ever had in my life.
Yeah, I like that better than chicken.
What do you think?
Did you like it?
It's pretty good, huh?
That's probably got one.
Did you get a baby?
It looks pretty clear.
Cut these pieces up.
Drink it up, girl.
Mom's not here.
Yeah, but she'll watch the video.
You can edit that out, right?
Yeah.
It would have cost you.
Yeah.
Black now.
Looks like it's all done.
It's a bowl.
Wow, that's good.
Cool, that was fun, guys.
Thanks.
That's awesome how fast that is.
Well, there's the conclusion to a fun pheasant hunt.
Yay!
