Hey besties, I hope you're all good today. I'm super excited. I'm going to be doing the end of year book tag
That's what it's called, right?
I don't remember. I don't remember love. I don't remember at all end of your book tag
Okay. Yeah, i'm gonna be doing the end of your book tag because I used to do seasonal tbrs
They were never very accurate, but I love the false hope. I love the false
You know assurance in myself that i'm gonna read this book that emotion
That self-belief for that fleeting moment, however wrong it is. I love it
But since I do tbr cluedo
I don't really do those anymore
But I really wanted to do this tag to kind of just chat with you about the books
That I am really hoping to read by the end of the year. A lot of these are mysteries
I'm just now realizing i'm definitely in the mystery mood. I feel like november december are just like mystery season
I just love it. I just love mysteries
So a lot of these are mysteries
but i'm really excited to talk to you about the books that I
I really feel like i'm gonna read most of these in the last couple months of the year
But before we get into it, I really want to thank the sponsor for today's video, which is boxu

I love that they work with local companies local families for the snacks that they provide in the box

Books, shall we first question? I this is boring for me
Are there any books you started this year and you need to finish the answer is no, that's never gonna happen ever ever ever
I don't think so unless we count the book i'm currently reading which I need to finish
I am not the kind of girl who starts a book and doesn't finish it. I'm just not that girl
I really thought about this. I was like there must be a book that I started for a video and didn't end up
Reading it. I like switched it up, but there isn't I like if I start a book
You best believe i'm reading it. I think i've even only dnf'd one book this year
Which was a marvelous light and I think that's like a permanent dnf for me at the time. I think I was like
I'm gonna read it like i'm gonna read it. I don't think i'm gonna read that
I think that is a permanent dnf for me. So other than that, there's no books i've started and haven't finished
Sorry, sorry
I'm boring in that regard next question is do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?
I need to read the death of jane laurence by caitlin starling, which is this amazing gothic horror
Psychological crazy, you know, I am co-hosting the literally dead book club with books and lala for november
And this is the book club book. It just arrived yesterday. I love the cover
I don't know if you can see it's so cool with all these like strings in between the hands. It's amazing
I've never read any caitlin starling
But caitlin starling is probably the author i've been meaning to read for the longest time like to start
I really want to read luminous yet as well, which I do own but I have to read this in november
So i'm being forced to start caitlin starling. It's about time
This is about our character jane laurence
Who kind of gets into this kind of arranged marriage with this guy in her town?
To kind of allow her to have the freedom that she wants in her life
It's kind of like a marriage of secret convenience for both of them. He tells her. Yep. Okay, we'll get married but
You're never allowed to come to my family home
But one time I think at night she does and she finds him changed and then I don't think he remembers that in the morning
So i'm super intrigued also the title's the death of jane laurence. So like
Is this bitch gonna die? Like what are we? I don't know
I'm, very excited for this also just quickly many of you know
My favorite series of all time is the strange case of the alchemist's daughter. I reread the first one last month
Yeah last month for the first time i've never reread them with my patrons for our book club and i'm hoping
In november or december to continue this reread and to read the european travel for the monstrous gentlewoman, which is the second one now
It's long it's very very very long. She's huge, but she's so beautiful
She's a mammoth, of course
It's nearing 700 pages, but I love her like I think it's my favorite book of the series
I just love the journey that the characters go on and it's not hard for me to read them
It's just whether I have the time essentially with all the books I need to read for videos
But I love these girls if you don't know
This is like a group of monstrous girls who are linked to men from gothic victorian literature
We have a lot of characters from victorian literature pop up throughout the series and they're becoming more best friends and like girlfriends
I just love them. I just love them
So i'm hoping because this is again gothic victorian autumn cold, you know that kind of mystery
I think it would really fit this time of year
So hopefully I read that next couple months and then a book actually winter themed so
Kind of transitioning into winter at the end of the year
I'm hoping around christmas time to read midwinter murder by agatha christie
This is just like a short collection of short stories kind of set around christmas or winter murder mysteries by agatha christie
I think a lot of them have porro in them as well
So i'm hoping to finally get to this because I meant to read it last christmas and I didn't I really want to read this
On christmas day, but like i'm not gonna time to read on christmas day
You don't read on christmas day
especially because I think me and tom my boyfriend are gonna be like, you know nipping back and forth between our families, so
I yeah, I don't think i'm gonna read this on christmas day, but definitely around that kind of time
I'm hoping to read it. The next question is is there a new release you're still waiting for the answer is yes
There's quite a few but i'll just talk about two probably my most anticipated release is girls of fate and fury by natasha niang
Oh my god. I am so excited. You know, what's the most exciting thing about winning? It's when you win
If you don't know this is the third and final book to the girls of paper and fire series
Which is one of my favorite fantasy series it kind of I read it a very like, you know
Formative time in my reading the first book when I was just getting back into reading before I started my channel
And I was falling in love with reading and it was a little bit of a surprise to me this book
How much I loved it?
I kind of picked it up on a whim in america and I just love these girls
I love the kind of difficult topics that it deals with I think out of any ya that i've read it deals with difficult
Hard-hitting topics the best and i'm terrified for how this final book is gonna end like i'm really scared
Another one i'm very excited for actually is the very merry murder club
This is an anthology by a lot of middle grade writers doing like merry christmasy wintery murder mysteries, which
Come on, come on now. Come on now. It's what she deserves
I'm, very very excited for that one as well
What are three books you want to read before the end of the year now, you'll notice these are all mysteries
Listen I told you i'm in a mystery mood around this time of year
I definitely want to read the christie affair by nina degromont this comes out in january of 2022
So I want to read this before then this is focusing on when agatha christie went missing
She went missing for a couple days and no one really knows what happened
But it was around the time that she found out that her husband was having an affair
And this book this is the arc which is a super cool kind of newspapery cover
This is following her husband's mistress and kind of her story and agatha's story and i've heard really really great things from people who have
Read it already. I love agatha christie. She's a girl. She's a girly at this point
The dolls are the dolls
I love a good mystery. I am so excited and hopefully i'll love it and I can just force it down
Everyone's throats in january another one
I need to take the sticker off. Don't judge me. Um, but it's as good as dead by holly jackson. I
If you know if you know if you know if you know
This is one of my favorite series this murder mystery series following pip a good girl's guide to murder is so good
But i'm so scared, but I have to read this. I have to read this in the rest of the year
So in this pip is kind of this young detective in this series and she's trying to solve different cold cases
Or mysteries that are kind of happening in her small town
And this is the last book and i've heard from so many people that it goes
In a completely different direction and i'm i'm terrified you guys I am so scared
because
What is the different direction pip in this one?
She's been through a lot
So this has been through some ---- in books one and two and it's changed her, you know
Like it's really affected her as a character
And so i'm very intrigued to see what kind of route this goes down
I think in this one pip is the mystery herself
Then finally i'm really hoping to get to firekeeper's daughter by angeline bully
This is like another mystery following this indigenous character who I think makes a deal with the fbi to
Investigate drug related deaths in her community. I've heard it's very
hard-hitting
Emotional deep like a very very hard book to read but i've heard so many good things
Courtney summers blurbs on the back one of my favorite authors ever
So I need to read more from her. I already read sady and the project
But I need to read like all of her backlist
Anyway, I really want to read it because i've heard just so many things my mom read it and she really enjoyed it
I've had it so emotional
So this is another one another kind of release that's come out this year that i'm hoping to finally get to at the end of
This year and then we have the question
Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favorite book of the year?
I think like any book could i've had a lot of five stars this year
But I haven't had a lot like I don't have I think I have any book that's become like a new favorite of all time
Like I want another the starless sea the strange case of the alchemist daughter the guest list the night circus, you know
I want another book like that. I don't actually know what my favorite book that i've read this year is
Listen, it's still open for debate if I had to guess I think maybe the appeal by janice hallett
I'm, very intrigued by this
We're following this murder mystery in this small town and this is all told through like emails and text message exchanges
Like literally the whole book is told through that. I think it's gonna be super fast-paced rude. I love
Oh, I love murder in a small quaint english town, bitch
That is it. That is it murder in a small quaint english town where everyone knows each other
Everyone thinks they're that bitch. Everyone's like gossiping about each other. Oh
I love it
So i'm I feel like this could be of my favorite book of the year if it really hits home like if it's oh my god
I'm so
And then the last question is have you already started making reading plans for next year?
No
My reading plans often dictated by my video ideas and I have video ideas for next year
I haven't scheduled them. Typically I schedule videos like two months in advance one to two months in advance
So I haven't started planning next year's but I have a very long list of videos to do
So in that way I have made my reading plans next year
Like my reading for the first half of the year is probably already in many ways dictated by what videos i'm gonna end up doing
I have a couple goals. I know I want to try and achieve next year
I know I want to get my physical tbr down a bit
Hopefully and I know that I want to try and finish as many series as I can
I'm, not sure what number i'm gonna set for how many series I want to actually be in the middle of by the end of
Next year, but that's definitely gonna be a goal but in terms of my reading plans
No, I haven't really but I also have because like I have all the video ideas
So there we have it
That is my end of year book tag with all the books i'm hoping to kind of read by the end of this year
Let me know if you've read any of these what you thought of them
A lot of them are kind of like new releases or I mean this one isn't even out yet. So you can't have read it
But let me know if you have read any of these or which ones you are most excited for
If you've gotten to the end of the video comment a like full leave emoji like one of the leaves emojis comment that down below
If you've gotten to the end, thank you again to my patrons

Um, I love you very much and thank you so much for your support
And I love all of you who are watching this very much and I hope you have a great rest of your day
And i'll see you very very soon
