All right, how many signs do you need? Like two pro line signs, a danger, another danger,
so what could possibly be on the other side of this rock? I think I might have to pace myself
today. And you know what, I'm also going to do myself a favor so I don't chafe my knees
because I'm wearing my not favorite knee pads. I don't know why but I find this stuff to look so
appealing. Yeah, hey what's up?
Not too bad. This maelstrom is super fun too. It's a blue, but it's like wicked wicked flowy
and fast. That's what a lot of people have said. So I've heard a lot about Wolverine so that's
where we're headed. I'm going to sound like a total fan girl. Yeah, absolutely.
Are you actually, your park that you're building, are you opening that to the public? No, that's
just my backyard. However, this has been kind of like the game plan all along. This is like,
even before I started my YouTube channel, like I wanted to open up my own bike park of some sort,
just like I didn't have financial means. YouTube was kind of like the stepping stone to kind of
like get to the next level. So like as like, you know, mountain biking is evolving, the style of
bike park is also evolving, because like this, this kind of stuff like is new, where it's like
more like car assisted laps, where you can just park the car, do a bunch of laps, come back to
the car, get some food. It's probably not going to be soon, but the goal is to eventually do something.
Well, yeah, we're gonna go head to the top. Yeah, likewise. I might do my intro up here,
now that the crowd has dispersed a little bit. I don't know if it shows up on camera,
but there's literally condensation inside the lens. We are here, just out of Quebec City,
on the other side of Sentier du Moulin, and we are about to go ride Wolverine and maybe Sub City.
We'll see, depending on how much energy we have. Yesterday, we were out riding the Sentier du Moulin
section, which is kind of like more quick hot laps. This is more of like an adventure ride. Oh yeah,
and I forgot to mention, Hayley is along for the ride today. She was along for the ride yesterday,
but sometimes I forget to introduce her on my videos, because I know some people this might be
our first video watching. Yeah, a lot of times I'm traveling and I'm doing it for my work,
because that's what I do for a job, and she's off doing, you know, smart people things,
like doing science in the lab. Okay, so we are jumping on Wolverine. We got, looks like we got
some techy little climbing, but we have some traversing to do. Well, that's how you start a
trail. You build a giant rock slab. So yesterday, when we were riding the other section, I kept
wiping off the lens, because I thought it was getting muddy, but what I kind of forgot about
is I'm a very sweaty human being, and my gloves were completely drenched in my own sweat, so every
time I'd wipe the lens, I would actually make it worse. That was actually a pretty steep little
punch. Whoa!
All right, so I know I've said many times, and it should come to no surprise to most people,
that I am not, you know, I didn't start mountain biking because I like climbing.
With all that said, I do like technical climbs. I find them fun and challenging in the same way
I find downhill challenging, but oh, I just, I'm very much into the technical side of mountain
biking and not the fitness and aerobic side. Oh, this is good. This is real good. I think now we're
getting into the meat and potatoes. Oh, this is so cool. Okay, there's a pro line sign up ahead.
That's a rock garden. I'm trying to figure out what part is a pro line, because like, honestly,
the rock roll looks easier. All right, it's got really good grip. I think the hardest part about
the pro line is getting through the pro line. All right, dropping in. That was wicked cool.
All right, what kind of fun stuff are we getting into over here? Okay.
I slammed my chain right up there. I didn't think you were going to make it through that section.
Oh, over that hump? Yeah. Look at that. This is more chunky tech than I'm done with. Yeah,
that is interesting. Oh, another fun little dangerous. As long as you don't go off the
trail, it's not dangerous. As long as you don't crash, you're fine. Man, fantastic rock work here.
The pink Bigfoot goes to the right. I'm not Pink Bigfoot, so I will go this way.
Okay, this is like the rock roll on Super G, so don't look at it, just go for it. All right,
let's do this. Oh, that's cool. Oh, my feet just... One foot got soaked.
There's a cool outside line. I didn't see the entrance for it, but definitely decided to exit.
All right, let's see what this drop is like. I mean, it was a drop. Now it's a roll. If you
can roll it, it is not a drop. All right, got two pro line signs, a danger, another danger.
So what could possibly be on the other side of this rock? All right, all right. This reminds
me a lot of the manager at Whistler. Yeah, I won't be gapping into this one. This one is a
pro line. It's like steep enough where it's like you're going into a quarter pipe. You ready? All
right, drop it in. You know, the only difference between this and the manager is this one's
actually a little bit slippery because there's water. This is cool. Oh, yeah, I like this. I
like formation. This trails a lot. Yeah, shouldn't get your enduro full face.
I was looking at them. There's a very steep rock roll in the middle. It's actually pretty good,
but there's like a bit of a chunky turn. Then there's like, it looks like there's an outside
line to the left, but honestly, it looks like the outside line is much harder just because of
its proximity to everything. All right, chunky. Heck yeah, Haley.
That last little pitch was steeper than I expected. Yeah, and then I was like,
pick your poison, but you kind of got it right. I feel like there's something loose on my bike.
Yeah, my front wheel was a little bit loose.
That's not too bad. Got a little slippery at the bottom there.
All right, so, I mean, I haven't seen this. All right, so it's got like a few steps into like a
bit of a wooden bridge, and then you got a little bit of a slapper turn. All right,
drop it in. I wasn't sure how much slowing down I was going to be able to do on that bridge.
Feel good? Oh, it's not bad. All right, so yeah, if we go down this way,
we should get to Slab City and whatnot. We survived Wolverine.
All right, so we're gonna be riding on the road for a few miles, or maybe just like a mile or so.
All right, apparently Klondike is a really fun climb. All right, so if you're looking at the
map here, our plan, so we're right here. Our plan is to go up to Klondike, take Chemin de Lynx
all the way over, and then once we get to this intersection with Cut De Lynx and Vortex,
you can take this down, and then I think right here we'll be able to jump onto Chemin de Coyote
and do Haute Maelstrom, and then we can go down the rest of Maelstrom. So that is our plan for
you following along. Sorry. I feel like I'm at an amusement park ride. I don't know why.
This is just much different than any other climb I've done, in recent memories at least.
Honestly, I want to go down this. Hey, how's it going?
I like your work. How is Empire 47? Empire 47, we call them, we call it E47. Okay.
It's where I bring people to learn, but yeah, it's worth it. If you have a couple of days,
it's worth to try. Four days, I'd do one day at E47 and three here. What's your name? I'm Philip.
Are you Philippe or Philip? Philip. Okay. Have a good one, guys.
Two-way. This is very cool. I don't even care if I'm not shredding.
I'm like a... I'm going over here.
No drones. Oh, wow. That was very cool. This is two-way, so...
Wait, what the frick? No, sorry. I need to go do that.
Hello. That is tricky.
This is rad. This is so cool. Jeff Frenoski, where are you?
I'm good. Get it, get it? Yeah, this part is kind of... Yeah. There we go.
I was expecting this to be a trail ride. I don't like being defeated. Yes. Oh, my God.
Jumping up in your front tire, you just needed your front tire to get traction
on that rock, and the second that it did, it, like, caught.
I'm more stoked about that than Wolverine. You have to go there.
Well, hey, thank you. What was your name? My name is Chris. Chris? Yeah. Alexi. Alexi?
Pleasure to meet you guys. Yeah, we're going to take Chemin Coyote to Upper Melchom.
Perfect, I guess we're going in the same direction. Yeah, this is cool.
It's not high mountains, but just enough for what we do.
This is some of the best mountain biking, and, yeah, like, you know, if I get a flat,
it sucks, but it's not that far to get back to the parking lot.
You mind if I follow you down this? No. No? Sweet.
Slippery rocks. Wow. What the heck?
What is this place? Am I a mountain biker or am I at Disneyland?
Good save.
Oh, yes. Don't let my riding deceive you. This stuff is, uh, really tricky.
Case in point, just dabbed. All right, we got a drop or something.
Sometimes the hardest part, too, is just staying on the ridges. That was cool. Nice riding.
That was a tough first part. Yeah. The balance of it is really easy.
There's so many, like, even the climbs over on that side. Awesome. It's not boring.
She, a few years ago, she shattered her ankle. She's slowly been getting back to,
not her skill level, because her skill level has gotten better and better,
but her confidence has taken a while to catch up to where her riding abilities are.
Too much for how tired I am. A lot of those, like, little punches up, I was like,
I do not have enough power to do those. Well, I'm walking a lot more than I wanted to on this trail.
All right, so the mail storm section was equally just as cool as stuff over on the
Sentier du Moulin side of things, so definitely worth checking out. I, it flew under the radar,
like, I mean, not Wolverine, but, like, the other stuff was almost more cool than Wolverine,
I would say. So, anyways, if you haven't checked out the last video I did from the other side of
Sentier du Moulin, I'll leave a link to that in the description below. As always, my name is
Wim Wetz. Thanks for playing bikes with me today. I'll see you guys next time. Peace.
