Baby, don't hurt me, don't hurt me, no more.
Hey guys, welcome back to Hang Todd!
I want to know this. Do you know whether or not you're interested in a guy like right away?
Right away? Yes. What are you basing it on? Looks?
I think we can both agree that yes, it's like 80% looks at the beginning.
Well, here's the thing. I think that guys are more like about looks and I think girls are more about personality. That's true.
No, yeah.
I say you can be, like girls can be swayed and changed. With like chocolate.
But with more pursuit. And flowers.
Yeah, no, no, like not the flowers. No, the personality. The more I see you trying, the more I'll be like
Open-minded. We want like that
Emotional something. Like you want to be able to. I'm not an ideal man.
Yeah, but then like I I think I used to be very like face like ill, ill, nah.
And then if they ever tried to do anything, then it'd be like get away from me.
Yeah, yeah, like that's when you make your decision if you like this guy or not.
And then if they keep pursuing you or anything like that, you'll be like.
And everything that they do is like.
But then if you take a person who you're already interested in and they do exactly the same thing, then it's like.
Come to me.
Would you rather a guy who's more like, you know, not very obvious.
And then you both have to kind of like tiptoe around each other.
Or would you rather someone who's like straight up like and lets you know?
Um, I think when I was younger, I liked the like, I don't know, dancing around.
Yeah, but then as I got older, I feel like that's kind of like, I don't know.
I mean that period is nice and everything, but it's it's it gets old.
If a random guy, you don't know this person, just like randomly on the street comes up to you.
And then asks for your number or whatever.
Would you actually like give your number?
Oh man, I don't know.
I would maybe tell my name and add them on Facebook.
Ah, yeah, that's true.
I wouldn't give him my number.
There was one time at the gym.
So you know how like a gym...
Just guys don't ask girls number at the gym.
It's kind of creepy.
Anyway, so I thought that I had the upper hand because I was like,
Uh, no, I'll be fine.
And it was like, so then I was like, okay, I'll say, yeah, just give me your number.
And then I thought like, I'm in the power position because I'm never gonna like reply.
Or like send a message, right?
And then I was like, yes, he's gonna leave me alone now.
But then he put his number in my phone and then dialed his phone.
And then like got my number.
And then I'm like, I didn't think about that.
No!
Have you guys ever used pick up lines?
Oh, are you kidding me?
All right, give me your best one.
I don't think that happens in real life.
I use pick up lines all the time because they're funny.
I don't seriously think they work.
Okay, so that's the thing.
If someone approached you with like a cheesy but funny pick up line,
where you actually like laughed, would you like continue talking?
Yeah, but that doesn't happen very often.
I think it depends. It's not just the lines.
It's like how the impression that you give off to the other person.
Okay, so like if you guys are on a first date, second date, whatever,
do you expect the guy or the girl to pay?
Would you think it's weird if it's split in half?
What would you think if the thing is split in half?
That she's not interested?
I think it's kind of like a Chinese thing.
I'm always fighting for the bill.
You know what I mean?
I kind of have that in me.
So I'm going to fight for the bill.
I'll knock someone out.
So you would go to that extent?
I wouldn't knock her out.
But you know, it'd be more like a forehead kind of thing.
And she's like...
Yeah, exactly.
I got the bill.
Do you think if he doesn't pay for it,
or doesn't offer to pay for all of it,
that he's not interested, or is just a friend?
Depends on where you are in the relationship.
This is like very beginning.
Very beginning, I would go Dutch.
Like 50-50.
Because then you don't have like...
You're not obligated.
What if he brings a coupon?
Oh man!
Brings a coupon.
I think I would judge.
Like I'm sorry?
Oh really?
You think out of all places,
you'd pick this place because she had a coupon.
If she eats way more than you,
and way more than expected,
would you think that's off-putting?
Or like...
I've dated girls that are really petite,
but they just can...
throw down food.
I don't know, I've seen that before.
What's the point where it's like really...
It's refreshing knowing that
she doesn't care about eating a salad.
Um...
To the point where it's kind of like...
You should stop.
Like what is the point?
Well she's gotta be using silverware, I think.
She looks like...
She's in good shape.
Yeah, right.
I would assume that...
She works out.
She's got it handled, under control.
Yeah, there you go.
Would you ever pursue a guy that you're interested in?
It takes a lot of guts.
I don't think I would actively pursue,
because actually I'm very scared of
rejection.
In Korea, there's this app
that tracks your relationship,
like how long it's been,
and they do like 100 day celebrations.
I feel like Korean culture has a lot of
dating dates.
Special dates to celebrate
like 100,
like White Day.
Especially in South Korea, it's so big with the couple
items, like couple rings,
couple t-shirts,
wearing matching outfits.
Wear a couple.
To me, that screams out
like they just met or something,
or this is the first time they've ever been with a person.
I feel like that is very much
the infatuation stages.
Yeah, because if you're with a girl for 5 years,
you're not going to do that. Are you kidding me?
Are you the type that
would keep track of exactly
how many days you've been dating?
I mean, we used to when we were
in high school and whatnot, because at the time
you know exactly when you got
into a relationship with this guy.
Like a month was a milestone.
Yeah, but now because the lines
are kind of like blurred, so you don't even know.
How do you define your...
I feel like the Koreans are really good at that.
Matching t-shirts, would you do it?
Yeah, I would do it.
That's a bit cute.
Wait, are you a
Shanghainese person?
You're not? Okay. You know the thing about
Shanghainese husbands and guys
are supposed to be the best?
Have you heard about this?
They carry their girl's bag and
they cook and stuff like that.
Yeah, would you
carry your girlfriend's
handbag?
Oh, handbag?
Yeah, handbag.
Would you let them do it for you?
I wouldn't even ask
them to do it.
That would be preferable.
Because it's like, for one
your handbag is like
the woman's accessory. Why are you
spending so much on a handbag
and then giving a deal like it doesn't make sense?
Would you? Matching outfits?
Matching outfits?
I don't know.
I don't think so. I wouldn't ask them.
For me, it's my one true love.
I feel like I'm contradicting
myself when I'm wearing this with you.
But if you become a family, if you're married
and then you have kids, I would probably do it with my family.
I wonder if the whole holding
bags, opening doors, if
girls in Asia, like girls in
China, if they expect
that more. Dude, it's definitely
expected. The Gong Ju
men. Yeah.
Which is like princess
in Hong Kong, Gong Ju bang.
I've seen some really like guys
like, oh, you guys
did you guys see the guy who went shopping
for like three hours and then just killed himself?
What?
This is in Shanghai, there's just like this dude
he didn't want to go shopping with his
girlfriend or wife and he just ended up jumping
off the top of the wall. Oh my god.
Yeah. In Shanghai?
Is this recent?
That's like a year ago and I was like
That's next level.
They say in China that if you're like
extremely wealthy
woman, you can't find
someone. And if you're an extremely poor
guy, you cannot find anyone.
Right? But the extremely rich, powerful
woman doesn't do well because she
is intimidating
to a... I feel like that's where
a rage marriage comes into place.
Because you also, if you're
super rich, your family wants
to make sure that you... It's equally
rich. Yeah. Right, okay.
Like in Chinese culture, you're kinda
you're supposed to take care of your parents,
right? That's the one thing that's great about
Eastern culture, you really
you have like the whole family
kinda living on one roof.
And like, well it used to be there were
like two or three sons and daughters
but now in China there's only like one.
Well, my one kid better get married
well or else I'm gonna be living in like
a cave or
a straw hut or I don't know, like some
kinda bad area. That's why in like Asian
culture, when you marry somebody, you marry
their family too. Like you have to also
impress the parents and the
siblings. Yeah, man. It's tough
man. Alright guys, so that
is the quite complex
discussion.
What was it? We went into
some detail. Yeah.
Well, dating is a very intricate
person. It's a deep topic.
Especially when you're dealing with very
different cultures. Yeah, I mean
there's so much about, I don't know, dating
your personal preferences, your
cultural background and your upbringing
it just makes it more complicated.
Yeah. So, it's a fun topic.
So, if you guys have
anything you wanna add to the discussion
make sure you leave it in the comments.
