Got the car all gassed up because I have no idea what I am going into. Everywhere was like,
have a high clearance vehicle, have all the recovery gear you need, and lots of gas. So,
we're ready. My GPS already. Come on. Don't put on me now. We're just getting started.
Just the other day, this was all covered in snow and ice. So, I actually mapped out this route on
Gaia GPS, and we'll see if I end up following this, but seems like a good route, so hopefully
it works out. Bye, getting myself into. Oh, these are some big ruts. Look at this.
My hair is such a mess right now. It's so windy up here. Oh, okay, that was nerve-wracking. That
was a lot steeper than I expected, but I made it. All right, just because I like you guys,
I'm going to get out of the car and show you this wind. I can't even open my door. Okay,
this is what my drone was flying in. See if my trusty GPS will take us where we need to go.
I would be completely lost if it wasn't mapped. Look at this. There's nothing up here. Nothing.
Risk reward assessment says this road appears to be, it appears passable, but I'm going to pass
on it because I think it just gets me closer to the Butte, and I can see the Butte. So far,
I have seen approximately no animals, but that's okay. There's still a long way to go.
Lots of time. So all these Buttes out here were used as navigation aids back in the day,
and they're still used today, actually, by mountain bikers and trail runners and
people who spend time outdoors. So there's Boar's Tusk on this side,
and on the other side, we have the Butte. Pilot Butte. Like really fresh. Look at this.
Fresh pile. After further evaluation, I have decided my professional opinion is that pile
of poop was at least a day old. Where are the living animals around here? They said that there
were going to be animals, and I have seen none. Horses have been located. The plan is going about
as well as one could hope. I have not gotten lost. I saw a pile of Butte. I saw wild horses,
and I'm only slightly behind schedule. Actually, I have no idea how behind schedule I am,
but we'll find out if I show up to the campsite, and it's dark.
All right. Let's check out our rules. Okay.
Oh, he doesn't like me. All right. Bye.
All right. So I have been running around taking pictures and videos all afternoon,
and it is now just about seven o'clock. I'm going to make some dinner and then
probably head to bed really early because I'm exhausted. Super tired, but this is an
epic camp spot. You ain't ready for this dinner. Dinner. We're going the easy route.
Also, I had cell service in this exact spot 10 minutes ago, and now it's not pulling any
service at all. It was actually working, like loading everything. Can you please come back?
Just a little bit. Just a little bit. No. Okay. That's fine. I'm going to go to bed anyways.
Good night. All right. So here's the plan. It is so stunning out here, and animals move
most in the mornings and late afternoons, so I'm going to go try and find some animals
and then make some breakfast. How's that sound? Would we like to take a guess as to why it's
called Table Mountain? So this is considered a high desert, but I have found plenty. I found
pronghorn. Yes. There's a whole herd right here. Okay. Hold on. I'm going to show you. I'm pulling
over. Oh my gosh. I'm so excited right now. There's a whole herd. Hello. Okay. We're going.
We're going. Here we go. Look at this. Look at this. Do you see them? It's only 8 40 and my day
has already been made. I am so excited. I got to see some pronghorn. They are way out there,
but I still saw them. I have seen pronghorn, cows, horses, and the only thing that's left,
desert elk. I will find some desert elk. I don't care what I have to do.
So I am going down a road that I didn't really plan on going down just because I'm still looking
for elk and it's also very well maintained. It's better than a double track. So I'm hoping
if I get a little closer to Steamboat Mountain, I'll have some luck. So far I have had none of
Like at first glance, you think there's nothing out here, but I cannot stop looking around.
It's a good thing. There's not other cars out here because my eyes are not on the road.
It's just such an amazing place. It's there's so much peace in there being absolutely nothing.
But at the same time, knowing that there's a bunch of life out here in the middle of nowhere
in the desert, such a cool place. So I'm just waiting for a law enforcement officer to let
me through. They're doing a wild horse gather right now. So the way they do that is they have
a trained horse that stands on the edge of that burlap funnel. And when the wild horses get close,
they'll turn the trained horse loose and the trained horse will come back into the funnel
and all of the wild horses, because of natural instinct, will follow it. That whole process took
maybe 15 minutes. It wasn't that long. It was insanely fast too once the helicopter got the
horses close. They ran them a while though. Like I talked to the cop and he said he was three miles
out. So those horses went over three miles just like that out of the red desert.
