We built this hanger and charger base for our DeWalt® Blower, but this same approach can be used for several yard and home tools - either with or without the need for a charger.

Simple to build, using off-the-shelf hardware, creating a place to both store and keep at the ready your tools is a great way to keep disorganization at bay.

In this build, DirtFarmerJay combined a plywood mounting base (hung on the wall with screws and anchors), a modified hanging bracket to hang the blower on, as well as a charging base to both store the battery and keep it charged.

This same approach, with or without a charger, can be used for a variety of tools, in a variety of settings. Organization looks and works great in the utility room, garage, shop, and outbuildings! We recommend that a wood sub-base always be used, as this allows bridging across and attachment to at least 2 studs, assuring that the attachment is secure.

If you mount a charger, many of them have hanging holes on the back of the unit. We put a bar of wood or metal above the charger so it won’t lift off when you remove the battery. Organizing the cord is a nice touch as well!

Various hanging brackets for a range of objects can be found at any well-stocked hardware store. For this build, DirtFarmerJay used a Blue Hawk Utility Hanger, #0595504, from Lowes. To get it to fit in the handle bracket of the blower, DFJ modified the hanger using a 4” grinder, file, and paint.

This hanger can be used for several items such as ladders, lawn furniture, and even wheelbarrows!

Depending on the item being mounted on the wall, there are a variety of hangers for all sorts of purposes! You will very likely find a hanger for your purpose by using the search term “utility hanger.” If you can’t find what you need ready-made, there’s likely something that is close enough that can be slightly modified to fit what you want to mount.

While you’re at it, make it look nice, by painting the backboard and tidying up any cordage. Why not create a space that is enjoyable to visit when you need tools for the job? And just think, you made it because you can JUST DO IT YOURSELF!
