All day
Hi everyone
Welcome to my live stream. I hope you're having a great weekend
Let me know if you can see and hear me properly
Finally, we are having a live stream session with you
As I've been receiving so many requests from you to organize this live stream and I'm really happy to have you here
I see all your questions in the chat. So I will reply to them
Once I go through the topics of this live stream session
First while we are waiting for more people to join, please. Let me know in the comments where you're from guys
Let's get to know each other. Maybe
we will meet in Dubai and
I believe you're watching this live stream because you're planning to move to Dubai or maybe you're just interested in this city and
Today we'll go through the two topics first one is to how to overcome your fear and
Of moving abroad and the second one of the most important things you need to know
before moving to Dubai
So this is my second live stream session. I did the first one long time back and
Now I'm planning to do live stream sessions quite often
Maybe three or four sessions per month because I want to share more experience and knowledge with you
So guys, let's introduce each other in the chat
I'm interested to know where you are from so it will be helpful for me as well because I want to know
Like it also depends from which country you are coming so I can give you more valuable information
So, let's start with how you can overcome your fear
I moved to Dubai around six years ago and when I was 22 years old only I was quite young
I had some experience
Working experience. I just graduated from the University and
But I was full of doubts fear of moving abroad
I didn't know what to expect because Dubai is a Muslim city in a Muslim country
completely different culture and
But I was quite brave
And I just decided just to find a job pack my luggage and come to the new city because I always wanted to travel
explore new countries cities and
gain some international experience and maybe become stronger and
Also change something in my life and
I was lucky enough. I had two friends who moved to Dubai six months earlier. So
They were very helpful
they shared the experience with me what I should expect because you know six years ago you couldn't find much information and
the internet and
Like you're going to Dubai blindly you don't know what to expect and
As I said, it's completely different culture. I didn't know how to dress. I didn't know
What kind of people live here but my friends told me that it's quite
Westernized city, there are so many experts so
I will not face any issues and you know, living an expert life in Dubai is not easy
I was struggling quite a lot. I faced a lot of difficulties issues. I changed
My job several times. I lost my job. I lost my visa
But you know, you have to be strong move forward find the solution talk to people and
I'm really
Glad that I moved to Dubai. It was one of the best
decisions in my life and
I'm really thankful for this experience and I got a lot of valuable lessons here
So before I come to Dubai, I advise you are forced to plan everything properly and do some research
and
I think some people they say money they pack their luggage
They buy one-way ticket and they think when they come to Dubai they find their job
Like straight away or within one month and
but the reality is that
The competition in Dubai is very high and it's not that easy to find a job here
when you come on a visit visa
The first thing you should do is to try to
Understand what kind of job you're looking for or you want to find in Dubai?
Do some research while you are at home
The best way to do the research is to use LinkedIn because there you can connect with HR managers
Or like people from that companies so it will be easier for you to
Maybe arrange an interview apply for the job because you can connect to people directly
But at the same time you need to understand
what expenses you will have here because the accommodation is very expensive and
How much money you'll spend on food? I think if you follow in my youtube channel, I have a video
about
cost of living in Dubai and
Yeah, so just I have a lot of valuable information on my channel
so even if you watch those videos, you don't have you don't know quite a lot of information and
The second thing I think you need to understand that
You need to accept that it might not work out how you planned you can come to Dubai
You will spend
Your savings you will be very hard-working you will be looking for a job
you'll be very proactive, but by some reason we will not find a job it can happen and
some people have been looking for a job for six months and
It doesn't mean that you are not knowledgeable enough or you're not a great specialist. It just may be
you're not lucky enough or you didn't meet the right people and
Just don't be afraid to go back home and just continue looking for a job
It's not the end of the world. You can always
Continue looking
So don't worry
if you are not lucky to find a job from the first time you can do it again and just keep trying and
Don't give up and
The last thing
Which is from the topic how to overcome your fear is
Start building your network while you are in your home country because Dubai is all about networking
you can
Find job much faster. If you're very connected you go out you talk to people
There are several groups on Facebook
Groups where all experts
Discuss different topics so you should join those groups connect
with the people
Talk to them because even when you move to Dubai
You can invite those people for a coffee and they can guide you they can give you some advice and they will
Explain you some things you are interested in. So you should do connection with the local people
Before even you move to Dubai
So it will be easier for you to live in this country because all people who move to Dubai if they don't have families here
friends they feel lonely and
It relates to everyone so you should expect that you will be lonely for the first period of time while you
Find some friends and meet some people and maybe
You will find
People with a common interest so it would be great
But at the beginning it's always tough and you need to go out
don't sit at home and just go out talk to people speak to them and try to
Especially if you're looking for a job
You have to be very connected and build networking all the time attend different events. There are so many
Events for experts
If you like sports music art, you can always find those events in Dubai and you never know who you can meet at that
event
for example one of my jobs I found just
I
Was having a dinner with friends and the friend of my friend was looking for some specialist in marketing
so that's how I found one of my jobs and
Let's move to five the most important things
You need to know before moving to Dubai
So first thing as I said, maybe you will
experience a culture shock, but I don't think that it will happen because
Dubai is a multicultural city 70% of people I expect that the same as you
and
The city is quite westernized. It's not that conservative as other cities in the Middle East and
You don't need to speak Arabic to live here everyone speaks English and
You can find different kind of food
Even if you like to go out there are many parties nightclubs beach clubs cafes restaurants
so you can
Go out easily
You can buy alcohol. You can even buy alcohol at some specialized stores
But you need to license approved by your employer
And also women don't need to cover themselves. We don't need to wear local dress, which is called Abaya and
Because many girls are texting me saying what I should wear
Should they cover
Myself. No, you don't need to cover yourself. You can wear your normal clothes casual clothes, but you should be
respectful and
cover your
Knees and shoulders in the malls in the government organizations in the courts mosques
But if you go to the beach, you can wear your shorts tanks and just summer dress
the second thing is
Finding a job in Dubai, I think is the most
Important topic for you
so
earlier I
Could advise you to start to find a job
from your home country
and don't waste your time and money and
To come to Dubai and start looking for a job here because you never know if you find it or not
But today
The market is very competitive and your chances to find a job from your home country are very very low
Like six years ago that competition wasn't that high there were not that many experts in the city
so it was quite difficult to find good specialists here and
The companies were looking for some specialists abroad today
There are so many great people are looking for a job in Dubai, so why the employer
Will want to hire someone from abroad. They need to pay for their relocation if they can hire someone from Dubai
Who can attend the interview straight away?
so
For you, you can start looking for a job from your home country. You can establish relationships
but
Be ready if you get invited for an interview be ready to fly immediately to Dubai to attend the interview
Maybe even don't tell the reporter that you are currently
in your home country
Just don't tell this information
just be ready to attend the interview if they invite you and but you can look for a job from your home country and
Or if you have enough savings if you can
Afford to come to Dubai
You can come here and start practically looking for a job and as I said attend different events
build the network network with other people and be very very proactive and
Also, you should have at least
Enough cash to live for three four months
because
honestly, some people find job within one month some people
Have been searching for a job for six months
So there is no guarantee if you can afford to live on a visit visa for three
Months in Dubai, you should have enough cash to survive because the accommodation is not cheap. Yeah
So talking about accommodation, um
Many people spend half of their salary on accommodation in Dubai. The price is now are going down
so it's good, but still the accommodation is quite expensive and
If you come to Dubai alone, and you don't have enough
budget to rent an
apartment
you can rent a
room with your friend if you have friends or you can
share with someone who is looking for
accommodation as well, you can rent a room by yourself and
If you have enough budget, you can rent a service apartment
or hotel
In Dubai, the system is a bit different in our home countries
We used to pay for an accommodation on a monthly basis
Here in Dubai, if you want to rent a flat
You need to sign an agreement with the landlord or with an agent and pay by cheques
The minimum amount of cheques usually four so it means you need to pay for three months upfront
So it's quite a good amount of money. But if
you can sign an agreement with the landlord only if you have a
Resident visa and you have a cheque book
If you come as a tourist you can
Rent apartment on a monthly basis. There are some options
These apartments are usually furnished. You have everything for living, but they will be a more expensive and
the next thing
before coming to Dubai you need to get all your certificates attested and
For example your marriage certificate the highest qualification certificate and other
relevant certificates which you think you will use for your job because when you apply for a job here and you
Get accepted the HR manager will ask you to provide you those certificates
In order to issue a visa for you
If you come to Dubai with your wife
You should have a marriage certificate attested because if your wife will be living here on your visa
then you need to
show the certificate as well, so
This certificate has to be attested in your home country
and then when you come to Dubai, you need to take it to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
attested here again and
Then the certificate is valid in this country and
The last important point is transportation Dubai is quite
like
Developing very fast. There are so many new communities and you cannot reach all communities by public transportation
So the best way to move around is to have a car
But of course when you move to Dubai, you don't have money to buy a car
Like not like most people it's not
Clever to spend money straight away because you never know. Maybe you will leave the country after one month
So most people use taxi metro buses
but you know climate in Dubai is quite hot and it's not always comfortable to move around the city by
Metro or buses. So if you can afford you can also rent a car
They're quite affordable in Dubai so it will be easier for you to move around and your driving license
Should be valid here and
Once you get your resident visa, you should exchange your driving license to the local one some countries
can just exchange their license, but
for example your people from European Union and
But
some people they have to
Take the driving license and pass the test. So I am from the Eastern Europe. We have to
Take the classes and pass the test. It's not that easy. Some people try three or four times even to pass the test
Though they have a driving experience for several years
So, yeah
This were five the most important things you need to know now, let's go through your questions
I'll start from the beginning
Hi Oxy from my perspective the topic of job search already living there
Searching from abroad it will be of interest
Possible timings and what we can expect if decide to move and search there
So, I think I covered a little bit of this topic just now the best timings to come to Dubai
from October to April
Because then
Around June I end of May there is a Ramadan and many people are
Going out of the country. They travel abroad then summer is coming
It's very hot period of time as well
People take vacations and I think like the best time it's from October till April
One more question. I plan to go there in Dubai by November to find a job. It's a good month or not
Yeah, it's a good month
to come starting from October
Considering everything that has to be taken care of about starting the business in Dubai
Isn't better to start to work for a well-established business first and see if I want to move on after
Yes, that's how many people do they start
working
in hospitality for example and the restaurant business or they just
take the lower position in a good company and they
After one year, they start actively looking for a better opportunity. I did exactly the same
so I was working at the marketing and
executive when I was 21 year old in my home country and then I came here to work in the hotel
because
There was no other way how I can come to Dubai. So this was the easiest one
My plan was to come here start working in the hospitality and
Start immediately looking for a job. I like so that's what I did and after
one year
when my contract expired
I
Found the job in the consulting company
Tell me seven days trip to Dubai cost
Samir it depends on your plans because the cost can vary a lot
Dubai is an expensive city. I have I think a video on my channel
how or maybe I
Think I have about planning your trip how much money you need to spend just try to find the video or maybe I will share
Just leave this comment under this video below. So I will try to get back to you
Is there any advantage of buying quickly and apartment once we arrive if we have a working visa
Is there an advantage of having a property resident visa in case we lose our job?
Yes, if you lose if you have
If you buy an apartment, there is a new law in Dubai. I think
It will start in August maybe it started already
If you buy an apartment you get a 10-year resident visa as an investor, so if you buy a property
You will get visa
automatically for 10 years
but if you want to know more information about it, just
Leave me a comment. I can provide you with more detail because I have some connections in the real estate
Hi guys, I think I
Cannot
I'm facing some issues. Let me restart
the live stream
Hello
Can you hear me guys? I think there are some issues
