Hi guys, welcome back to another video. So today I have footage from a full training session that I had with B-Stero Soccer Training.
So B-Stero Soccer Training is a supplemental training company that work with individual players, small groups and even teams.
And I always take so much value away from these sessions. It's great to work with a one-on-one coach that's played at a high level of the game.
And they can analyse my technique and make those small adjustments so I can fine tune my game that make a huge difference overall in my performance.
So if you actually want to book a session with B-Stero you can do so. I'm going to leave all of their information in the description box below.
You can check out their website. They also have an Instagram page and YouTube channel where they provide drills and plenty of other valuable content to help you improve as footballers.
But I've gotten together with B-Stero a couple of times before here on the channel. You may have seen those videos already but if you haven't I'm going to link those on the screen and in the description box below.
So we had a great session this time working on adjusting our body positioning so we have a good angle to approach the ball which is going to help us with a cleaner passing technique and also our first touch.
So we miked up James Beeston and he went through a lot of different scenarios and gave me some really important feedback that you guys are going to get a lot of value out of.
So make sure you watch through this video, take any notes you possibly can from it and it's really going to help you with your performance as well.
But without further ado, let's get into the session. Enjoy!
So building angles, we're going to prep off the wall to begin with. First one, you're going to play right foot there, go through, play left.
I open up on an angle, receive with the back foot, pass in, touch and then I can play back. Easy walk, just getting used to the rhythm of the wall.
Ready, yep, bounce, bounce, yep, open up, back foot receives, punch and play. Touch, find me, good stuff, take your time, ready, bounce, turn, yep and play.
Touch, great touch, set, touch, quality lad, that's the touch that we want, good stuff.
So it's the same thing, just the other side, it's left foot, right foot. Now you're creating an angle out here, right, you can tell me to hold it and then play it in.
The angle of this touch is more towards the wall and you're playing it at a bigger angle out here.
So it's there because I want now this touch to come away and it's more like a little reverse back in.
Ready, come on then, play, yep, play, good, open up, positive touch, good, there, touch out, yep and reverse, love that, well played.
Yep, set, set, good man, here we go, great angle, touch, yes, well done, touch, play, good man.
Yep, set, good, touch, great adaptation there, touch, quality mate, love the rotation of the hips then.
Last one, set, set, yep, get out there, touch, play, yep, down, touch man, well done, take your time mate.
So we're going to utilise the wall now, still building the angle but it's going to be built into a reaction touch.
So you're playing, it's the same start, it's right, it's left, you're checking out at an angle but then it's a soft set back to coach.
So it's there, now you whip it at the wall, I get onto it, touch and then I play, okay.
So you're assessing the angle that it's coming back off the wall and taking your touch off that.
If you can, ideally, we don't want your hips to be facing here and doing that.
As it's played off, can you run in, step in and give me one of those reverse passes.
Okay, so punch it out your feet past this pole and reverse it back.
Yep, set, good, set, good, we open up, fire, set, touch, yes, played, well done, that's exactly what we're after mate.
Yep, set, set, bounce, great touch, play, set, yep, set, touch, great touch, that's it mate, well done.
One more, bounce, yep, good, open, set, good, way to read the angle, fine, that's sharp man.
Again, you're just assessing the angle off the wall, the direction and the weight.
That's going to be massive when we go in front of goal in a bit.
Same thing the other side.
Okay, so it's left, you're there, bounce, yep, bounce, I open up, set, I take that touch, bang, out and then it's, okay.
Bounce, bounce, good, ready, bounce, touch, good man.
Last one, bounce, come on, good, there, bounce, that's it, well done mate.
That was tasty wasn't it?
Okay, I'm going to take what we've just done and build it into a sequence, a combination going in front of goal.
The goal isn't the priority yet, the angle and the combination is, okay.
So I'm going to start here, I want to create depth and an angle with my movement, okay.
So there's two ways we're going to create the angle, one's with the movement and one's with the pass.
So I'm going to check out depth and angle, take a touch behind the pole and split the two poles back to you.
Now it's a soft set from you, I'm going to play into the bench, positive touch in and then finish.
Okay, just to build it and there's loads of different progressions we're going to do with this.
Working on awareness, perception, but right now let's just get used to those angles in and around.
Punch and play, great touch, yep, yep and finish.
Strike, punch, great, love that, great touch.
Take your time, back in, love the rotation on contact as well, building on what we did last time.
Ready, yep, rotate, bang, play, good.
Whip, punch, good, done well with it, done well, step, good.
Strike, ready, yep, punch and play, good.
Touch, here we go, touch and play, love it, finish.
One more, yep, step, great touch.
Little detail, as you create the angle, you've created the angle with the movement, check out.
If you punch the touch out of your feet, you've created a little angle in there, now my hips are facing where I want to go.
It's a touch, step and you're striking.
Again, the priority isn't in front of goal, the priority is here, okay.
Punch the touch out of your feet to create that big angle for me to pass in here.
Yep, punch, now angle here, there.
Ready, whip, good, touch, that's it.
Should have just got you at the demo lad.
Step, punch, play, out your feet, good.
Strike mate, yep, punch and play, love it.
Yep, punch, play, that's it, good stuff mate.
Punch, bang, play, touch.
Take your time mate, well done, that's it, good stuff.
First phase, you're starting off, you're checking out, you're creating that depth on an angle.
Positive touch out your feet, pass to create the angle, play.
It's there, step in and finish in a small goal.
Little jog into here, now a second ball comes in.
Alright, and what we're after, check in front of the pole it comes in, any turn that you want and finish.
Ready, yep, depth, punch and play.
Small goal, touch, play, good stuff.
Recycle, yep, punch, easy walk back, take your time.
Yeah, great touch, done well, done well.
Step, take your time, touch and play.
Little detail in here, check out beyond the pole because you're turned here and it's static.
If you can check out in here and then I'm going to play it, you've got to run onto this and it's just like a little depth touch around there.
Alright, just a cushion one, yeah.
Touch and play, play, good, step, that's a better touch.
Good, recycle, recycle, yep, touch, punch and play.
Done very well, yep, chop, great touch.
In this one, if you have a big way to touch out your feet it's almost better.
Rather than you having a touch here and just playing a straight pass there.
The more weight the better because you're getting after the ball and then you have to play it on an angle.
You have to play that reverse.
So the more you can step into it and create that angle, the better it is and then your hips are already here.
Check, punch, yep and play, play, chop, great touch.
Well done mate, take your time.
Ready, angle and depth, punch, yep, angle here, good, play.
There, step, big touch, good, good, here we go.
Yes, go on then.
Easy recovery back in.
Okay, so up to this point everything's been fixed, it's been blocked.
Meaning you're getting repetitions in but everything we're asking of you is exactly the same.
Every single rep, okay.
Which does have it's benefits but in terms of actually learning the game and the perception and everything.
There hasn't been much of it.
So we're going to add a little bit into it now, alright.
So you just start off, you be coaching there.
It's exactly the same start.
So you're checking, you're creating an angle with the depth, a touch, creating an angle with the pass.
Now as you set here, as soon as it hits the bench, you're the cue.
So you can either choose to overlap in here or just go around there.
So as I hit it, I might just play one there and then you finish, okay.
This is a transition though.
So after you've finished, the other person's going to get a ball and go one on one against you.
So you've got to defend, okay.
If the overlap happens here, we're after that little reverse pass.
So it's whipped in.
If it's there, I'm going to play that, okay, for you to finish.
But everything is the transition after, okay.
We're not going to do very many but just get into that perception base.
So you're reading the cues of where my run's going and then it's a turn and you're defending.
And we'll just keep switching it.
So I'll go, then you'll go.
So on and so forth.
Ready?
So you check, punch, play.
Yep, play.
Stuff.
And then we ease off.
Scary running at me, lad.
Scary.
Ready?
Yep.
Set.
Them long legs.
Yep.
Punch.
Play.
Yep.
Well done, mate.
Last one.
How good's an ice bath sound?
I've only done four reps.
James, thank you so much, mate.
We'll definitely be getting together again in the near future, I'm sure.
I'm going to need more of these to get ready for my season coming up.
