Today we're going paragliding at a whopping 2,000 meters height. I'm Oscar and I'm Dan
and today we're showing you one of the craziest experiences in our 58th country Turkey. It was
one of our favorite trips ever largely because we rented a car and got to see so much of the country
but also because Turkey is filled with gorgeous nature and has a climate that reminds us a lot
about California. After all we lived in San Francisco for a year and fell in love. Our
second major stop of the trip was a smaller coastal town in southwestern Turkey called Fethiye.
This is crazy. Here we set out to do something I wasn't entirely sure I was going to survive.
So here's the thing, I really love roller coasters and attraction rides and stuff like that. At one
point it was even my dream to open my own amusement park. There's only one slight problem
that's been developing with age. I carry these pills with me wherever I go because
I get very easily motion sick. That's why I'm a little scared right now because we're heading
out to go paragliding, something we've only done once before in India and that time I literally
thought I might die. Not only did I have to throw up several times but my body also curled up into
all these like really weird positions like I was literally stuck like this with my hands and arms
for at least two hours afterwards. I can only pray that it goes better this time.
With a little hesitation but a great deal of excitement we boarded the bus that was going to
bring us up to the top of the mountain. Oh my god it's so high already. The meaning of 2,000 meters
suddenly became a lot more palpable as we approached the summit.
This is normal. Okay so okay I'm not usually one to get scared of heights. I'm super scared of the
dark like that's my number one fear. Heights I'm usually okay with. Even I'm getting a little freaked
out right now.
Everything seemed to be going super well then things went south.
Yeah the motion sickness really got to me now it's like not as bad but it's still
Anyway the flight was great. What was your name? Denise. Denise right so thank you Denise. You're
welcome. The flight was great. Yeah so it's not it's not quite as bad this time. Like last time
I had to throw up and the whole shebang. We started at 2,000 meters and just kept descending.
Wow absolutely incredible. I'm still so tired from my motion sickness medicine that I'm like
so I think the food is going to do me well now. This is a country for us with this food.
Look how incredible pomegranate molasses with this delicious looking bride. Oh my goodness it's so
good. I ordered something I've never seen on a menu anywhere in the world before which is fermented
red carrot juice. I think it's like something like that. So let's try it. I feel so bad every time I
try something local and I don't like it but this is actually pretty pretty bad I'd say. You tried
it too. It's not great but he actually warned me before I order it so I guess it's my fault.
During the flight I spotted a secluded beach a short drive away from the main attraction
the Blue Lagoon. We went to the Blue Lagoon the next day and actually didn't like it that much
but this little beach that I saw turned out to be a hidden
gem and the perfect way to finish off a very active and adrenaline-filled day.
