Saint George is a marble sculpture made by Donatello around the 1410s. It is the second of fourteen statues commissioned by the guilds of Florence. Saint George was placed next to Saint Mark on a recess of the church in Orsanmichele.
Donatello (in Italian Donato di Niccolò di Betto Bardi) (c. 1386 – 13 December 1466) was a Florentine sculptor of the Renaissance. He was born in Florence and studied classical sculpture. In his sculptures, Donatello applied his knowledge to create notable works.
