TÆT PÅ ELEFANTER

Can you imagine meeting an elephant up close Try our program Close to Elephants We start the tour by meeting the elephants' caretaker We visit the elephants' outdoor enclosure together with the zookeeper Here we dig up the apples in the sand This is part of the zookeeper's enrichment for the animals We are talking about why elephants need enrichment How they use their sense of smell and their intelligence We are also looking for signs of them But maybe there's something dirty or maybe we find some footprints After that we see the elephants being let out If you're lucky and the elephants feel like it May I feed them apples or carrots You can really see their long trunks and their big ears We are talking about your appearance and your behavior Then work must be done Inside the elephant stable the assistant keeper must feed the elephants The entire tank needs to be emptied of sludge There is approximately 300 kg of sludge that needs to be moved It's tough but also fun When the stable is cleaned it's time to take a closer look at the elephants We go down to their outdoor enclosure and talk about what kind of animals they are Where do they live there what do they eat How can you tell the difference between an African and an Asian elephant You can get close to elephants every day The program starts at 9 o'clock and lasts about an hour and a half The program is suitable for 4th grade and up
