What's up guys, welcome back.
Today I'm going to show you how to make my candied bacon deviled egg recipe.
But before we do that, please take a quick second to subscribe to the channel.
Make sure to hit that bell and enable notifications as well.
Alright enough running my mouth, it's time to get in the kitchen and devil some eggs.
We're going to start by adding 12-14 free range eggs to a large pot.
Use whatever eggs are in the budget though.
I like to include one or two extras just in case one cracks.
We can use the yolk for the filling that we're going to use.
You want to fill it with cold water by about an inch or two.
Bring that to a boil for 12 minutes and then we're going to cool them off in some chilled
water.
For our glaze, we're going to use 1-4 cup of brown sugar followed by 1 tablespoon of
sriracha and 1 tablespoon of honey.
And then at least 2 tablespoons of good quality maple syrup.
You can add a little extra if you like.
Just taste as you go and adjust as needed.
Also going in with 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and a pinch or two of salt and
pepper.
Then break out your whisk and mix all of those delicious ingredients together.
That is going to be the glaze for our pork candy.
And before the pork police come in the comments and ask, yes you certainly can substitute
the pork bacon with turkey bacon if that is what you want to do.
No big deal there at all.
Looking good.
I do suggest making a couple extra pieces because it's very hard not to eat this as
you go.
Trust me, I know.
So for the recipe, you're probably going to need about 4-6 pieces of bacon.
As you can see here, I made quite a few extras for me and the cameraman to snack on.
I suggest you do the same thing because this stuff is irresistibly good.
So lay out your wire rack and we're going to pop that in a 400 degree oven for about
10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, you want to check them and flip them every 5-10 minutes until they get
nice and crispy.
Once the bacon is about 75% of the way done, that's when we're going to add our glaze.
You don't want to add it too soon because the high sugar content will burn in the oven
so you want to wait until it's just about done to add that.
While we're waiting on our bacon to cook, we're going to add our finished eggs into
a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.
This gives you perfectly cooked eggs.
Another option is to bring your eggs to a boil.
Once they reach a boil, cover them and turn the heat off and set the timer for 20 minutes.
That'll get you perfectly boiled eggs as well.
There's a million different ways you can boil eggs.
Use whatever way works best for you.
Here you can see we're flipping our bacon again, still waiting for it to get nice and
crispy.
Probably another round or two of that.
And I will call this about 75% of the way done, which at this point we're going to go
ahead and flip them one more time and then we're going to add that delicious glaze to
the bacon.
That's going to help them candy in the oven, get nice and sticky.
Here we go, a little early food porn for you guys.
If you don't have one of these brushes, you can get one from Amazon or you can just use
a spoon to kind of spoon it on there.
Just make sure that they're nicely coated on both sides.
And again, don't do this too early in the process because your topping will burn a bit
in the oven because of the high sugar content.
Deviled eggs are very traditional for a lot of, you know, events or dinner parties, but
this is a great way to kind of spice it up.
So after it's been in the oven for another 5-10 minutes, we're going to flip them again
and brush the other side.
Oh man, this stuff smells good.
Your kitchen's going to smell phenomenal.
This is how we're looking once the bacon is candied properly.
Look at that.
Alright guys, again, there's a million ways to do this, but this is my preferred method
of cracking a boiled egg.
I like to crack it a few times on all sides and then I take my hand, press down, and roll
it.
And for me, this will render the most perfectly peeled deviled egg, as you can see here.
For deviled eggs, you want to try to keep them as pretty as possible, so, you know,
be patient, use your water to rinse them off, make sure there's no shell on there, and then
set them aside.
And then we're going to repeat that process.
If you have a way that works for you, let me know in the comments.
I'm always down to try a new method, but this is how I've been peeling eggs for forever,
really.
That's probably the first thing I learned how to cook was a boiled egg.
Looking good.
Once you've peeled all of your eggs, we're now going to slice them down the middle, as
you see here.
And then we're going to dump the yolks into a separate mixing bowl that we're going to
use for our filling.
And then we're going to place the egg whites in our serving dish.
Just try to be careful here, again, deviled eggs are all about presentation, so, you know,
do your best.
A real great pro tip for making deviled eggs is to boil one or two extra ones.
As you can see, this one's kind of messed up, but the yolks are still intact, so we'll
use that to increase the filling that we have to make sure that all of our egg whites are
filled adequately.
There we go.
Who doesn't like a good deviled egg?
Man, this is a super simple recipe, but I promise you it's going to take your deviled
eggs to the next level.
Now for the fun part.
We're going to make our filling.
So we're going in with a half cup of mayonnaise.
Again, all of the specific measurements and ingredients, as always, are provided for you
in the description box below, so check it out.
Going in with one to two tablespoons of Dijon mustard as well, followed by two to three
tablespoons of sweet relish, depending on your preference.
As always, guys, taste as you go and adjust the flavor to your preference.
Going in with about a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, a couple pinches of white sugar,
and then I like to season my deviled eggs with some Old Bay seasoning, but you can use
salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder, paprika if you're crazy.
There we go.
Then break out the whisk and combine all of those ingredients.
Looking good.
The key here is to mash up the yolks, as you see me doing there, and then just whisk vigorously
until everything is well combined.
You definitely want to taste this as you go, though.
There we go.
Once you got it right where you want it, you're going to want to break out a Ziploc bag or
you can get one of these from the baking section of your grocery store.
You want to use the large top there because there is relish in this and you don't want
to clog anything up.
You may want to get your boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, whoever to help you with this
because this was definitely a pain in the ass, but hey, that's what I go through for
you guys.
I'll let you guys watch me struggle.
There we go.
Come on, man.
You can do it.
All right.
Now that we've done that, it's time to add our filling to our egg whites.
Just make sure they're all filled adequately, nothing worse than a half-filled deviled egg
at a party.
There we go.
Let me know what your favorite party appetizer is in the comments or what you would like
to see me make next.
It's Christmas time coming up, so we're working on some appetizers, some party foods, all
that good stuff.
I appreciate you guys' feedback.
Now that we're done filling our eggs, it's time to work on this candied bacon topping.
Look how beautiful that is.
That's a little money shot for you right there.
Cut the bacon pieces into half-inch pieces and then we're going to use that to top our
deviled eggs.
There we go.
This is nice and sticky, so gloves definitely help.
Good luck not eating all of this before you put it on the eggs.
All right.
Little pork candy for you.
Looking good.
And then just stick it right into the deviled egg as you see me doing here, like a little
candied bacon flag.
Just beautiful.
Awesome presentation, absolutely packed with flavor.
Your house guests are going to love these, I promise you.
Let me know in the comments what you think.
And then we're going to top them with, definitely not paprika, we're going to use Old Bay.
So give the deviled eggs a nice coating of that Old Bay.
Again, if you want to use paprika, be my guest.
You can use smoked paprika or chili powder, whatever you like, but here in Virginia, we're
big fans of Old Bay, so we're adding a little sprinkle of Old Bay to our deviled eggs.
Little trademark money shot for you guys, and you know I've got to try one of these.
Moment of truth.
Oh man, I could eat a dozen of these things, no problem.
Hope you guys enjoyed the recipe.
