Hey, guys.
I'm Sonia Castaneda.
I'm a lifestyle YouTuber.
And today, I'm going to show you one of my favorite DIYs,
pressed flower art.
So I promise this DIY anyone can do.
Don't worry.
I'm going to be here to help you step by step.
And this is what we're going to need.
Some flowers and plants, some books, double-sided tape,
some scissors, tissue paper, and a floating frame.
So this flower art reminds me of my son Jude.
We spend a lot of time together.
And we like to be outdoors.
He's a little boy.
But he also is really sweet and likes
to pick flowers on our hikes.
So this is a really fun way to capture that moment.
So the first step is selecting your beautiful flowers
and plants or leaves and creating
almost like a sandwich with your tissue paper inside of a book.
The next step is going to be placing
a few heavy books on top.
Now, the drying time is going to vary.
Just depends on what plants or flowers you choose.
I already have a few flowers from my last hike ready to go.
Next, we are going to be removing our flowers
and leaves from the books.
Beautiful.
As you guys can see, nothing is curling up.
They're staying perfectly flat.
And they are ready to be framed.
This jasmine reminds me of growing up.
There's a huge jasmine bush.
And it smelled so beautiful.
Growing up, it was wild.
There's a ton of us.
My mom is one of seven.
I have just a ton of cousins.
And our favorite things to do were
to be gathering either in the backyard or at a park
because there's so many of us.
Seeing Jude's hand-picked flowers
incorporated into this piece is really, really special.
And it's probably something I might give to my mom
as like a generational piece.
I have already cleaned off my glass frame.
And I'm ready to place all of my petals and flowers
and greenery here.
You want to make sure that you play around with it first
before you add the tape and secure it to the glass.
I'm really liking how it's coming out.
It looks perfect.
And I'm ready to secure them using the double-sided tape.
We've collected, pressed, and styled our flowers
into our frame.
And now it's ready for hanging.
These are my favorite kinds of gifts
because they're personalized.
And it's just perfect for gift-giving all year round.
