So hi, so today I will make an echoprene using flowers that are around my house.
So many flowers around the house, so I will use a bundle echoprene technique to make beautiful
motifs on fabric. There are so many types of plants that can be used for echoprene because
every plant has tannins. The richer the tannins, the better the motifs will be. And actually the
most important thing is how we extract the plant to the fabric. Therefore, to attract tannins to
stick to the fabric, we must know how to treat the fabric and the plants. Usually the process that
most affects the echoprene result is the pre-mordant or scoring process followed by the mordant process.
I've made a video about mordant and scoring in basic. If you would like to learn more about how
to mordant fabric perfectly, you can contact me on Instagram. Link on description. Here I will use
a wood to roll up the echoprene bundle. I use cassava branch. You can use anything actually.
Maybe you can use a pipe. The important thing is to roll the fabric. This is a material that I have
I use a variety of blends to make the fabric ready to accept the color from the plant tannins.
I do exploration continuously until I can find the right recipe. And it takes a long time of course.
Then we arrange the flower and leaves on the cloth according to the pattern you want.
I will place it in the middle and then wrap it with clothes on the edges.
Maybe time lapse.
Then we prepare the plastic. Actually this is optional but I recommend that you use the plastic
to get a good pattern. So the layers are the first is clothes and then the flowers. I mean the first
is the fabric and then the flowers or leaves. Then plastic. After that you need to roll. I will roll
the fabric with the wood that I have prepared earlier. Roll tightly. Make sure the roll is neat.
Then the last is to tie it using a rope. You can use various types of rope but I'm using a fabric in here.
And this is the most stressful part. The whole process. Because each result will definitely
not be the same. I was very surprised. This is very beautiful. There might be some
empty space because the flowers are shifted. But this is very amazing.
Good.
Then we have to wait all day before the cloth is ready for washing and color fixation.
And the fixation process also determines the final color of this ecoprint technique.
