This is a video I was really delighted to be making as it’s all about creating more flowerbed space, which is all any gardener could wish for! After quite a bit of persuasion on my part, I managed to convince Richard that all that lawn space was totally unnecessary and it would be an excellent idea to take away another section of turf to create a whole new, rather large, flowerbed. And here we show you how easy it was to do this. As I mention, we used flexible steel edging which we ordered online from a wonderful company called www.theidealgarden.com and I ordered it one day and it arrived the next. Extremely easy to use as well. The whole project only took one morning and now I can get on with the exciting part - planting. I hope you enjoyed the music which is Les Toreadors from Carmen by Bizet.

I cannot believe it because he has said yes to my next fabulous idea.
Because let's face it, who needs all this grass?
Is it really necessary when you could have flowerbeds instead?
So this is what we are going to do.
We are going to go here, here, here, all the way around to here.
More flowerbeds!
Because let's face it everyone, my garden is small and I'm running out of flowerbed space.
So there's only one option, which is to create more.
And that is what we are going to do.
So it's going to be about one metre deep all the way around, then curve away at the end.
And what I'd like to do today is get rid of all the turf.
And Richard next weekend has a whole weekend of golf.
Totally unnecessary in my view, but anyway he enjoys it.
He has a competition, a big competition, so I can't have any help from him next weekend.
So today I'm really hoping that we can just get the turf off.
He will have to do the lawn edging because as I saw from that bit there, he needs a lot of muscle which I do not possess.
As well as he does.
And then what I plan to do for the rest of this year is maybe get two statement houses.
Trees or large shrubs or topiary or something or other.
Get those planted because then they've got all the autumn and all the winter to get established with their roots.
And I have about 200 bulbs, tulip bulbs.
And I will just fill the whole thing with tulips this October, plant all those and then that will look nice until spring when I can think of what I will do with it after that.
So that is what I'm hoping we can do today.
However, at the moment he is lying in bed watching Netflix with a cup of tea.
So I'm going to make a start on my own and see how long it takes before he comes to join me.
So I'm very excited.
So the optimist in me says I'm halfway there.
It's really getting warm I need to put a t-shirt on.
Oh that's better.
I was getting hot.
Lottie and Lucy have come to help but unfortunately still no sign of Richard.
Actually they are going to be a bit upset because this is where they like to lay.
I hadn't thought of that.
Anyway let's crack on.
We're doing well girls.
Girl power.
Lucy you're going to get covered in sand.
I am disposing of it in a responsible manner.
That's the straight edge done.
So now when Richard finally arrives on the job we will be able to get to the steel edges and make the curve.
And the curve is going to end up here so we'll decide that.
I think that should be alright.
I'm having a cup of tea.
It's too early for anything strange.
I'm really pleased.
It's a glorious day.
And here he is.
It's like when the cooking is done and you come and stir it and then say that you've made the dinner.
That's correct. It's all about the fond touch.
I've just got to pile up the situation and put a plan in motion.
Okay so for those of you who did not see the previous video when we just did that little flower bed.
I'll tell you all again that this is the flexible steel edging that we use.
It's from a wonderful company called The Ideal Garden and I will link those in the description down below.
You get them in all different colours.
We've gone for the green but there's a whole array of different colours.
They are one metre in length so you get five in a pack.
I'm sure you can get different sizes in different packs but this one is five in a pack so that would be five metres.
And they all slot together and then you just bang them into the ground literally which is what Richard will be doing in a moment.
I do highly recommend these.
I ordered them one day, they came the next day and this pack cost just under £34 which I think is very good value.
So first of all we have to get the existing edging strip up again.
Fabulous!
The easy bit. Jeanette done the easy bit. Pulling up a little bit of grass.
Anyway, I can get on with this and I will have a look for two statement pieces of trees, big shrubs, I don't know.
I don't know what.
I love it.
Thanks so much for watching. It's Jeanette here, Enthusiastic Gardener.
Thank you for joining me. Stay tuned for further developments.
Bye!
