A good friend of mine and fan of the national football league NFL like me - (I am a huge fan of the new orleans saints and espacially a big fan of Drew Brees, who would have definitely won the super bowl if only he had the chance given...) celebrated his 40th birthday (in roman letters "XL") and asked for a gift of money. Since he was the host of every super bowl party over the last years, I decided to work on a self made football trophy - similar to the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
I first designed the shape of the football with a 3D program and got the silhouettes as guides for the needed shapes.
