Hi guys, and welcome back to my channel.
If you are new, welcome.
My name is Hannah and I'm the mom with muscle.
And in today's video, you guys, it is going to be a vlog style.
I have not done a vlog in a very long time, but we have officially started our backyard.
So there are just some things that I kind of want to update you guys on and show you
guys the progress and the progression of what is happening here at the nail residence.
So if this is something that you are interested in watching, just keep on watching.
But if you haven't already, be sure to like, comment and subscribe.
Make sure you hit that bell button for every time I upload a video.
And if you are already following me on Instagram, I would love to have you over at mom with
muscle.
But without further ado, let's get into this video.
So I have not done a vlog style in a very long time.
I feel like I've been doing a ton of home decor related videos because I love them.
But I used to do a lot of vlogging and I really want to try to push myself to do two videos
a week.
Sound off down below what you guys think about this.
I was thinking of doing one video a week where it is vlog style.
That might be taking you guys along for a workout because I get people asking me questions
about the fitness and pregnancy and a little bit more, I guess I would film more of like
my daily life and what it is that I'm doing.
Workout site, like I said, maybe some recipes, things that I'm eating throughout the week,
updates around the house.
And then the second video would be something a little bit more informative, kind of like
my styling videos, home decor related videos and whatnot.
So let me know down in the comments if that would be something you guys would be interested
in.
I'm trying really hard to bring you content and that is something that I think I could
definitely juggle by pleasing the people that want to see maybe the fitness side of things
or the what I eat in a day type things versus just it being all home related type videos.
So sound off down below.
Let me know what you think.
But so we have started our landscaping plans and I do want to just kind of update you guys
on the progression of that.
Now my husband and I did have a heart to heart a few weeks back before we started this whole
process on realistically, if this was a house that we were going to be in for a decade,
if not more, and him and I both decided that this is not our forever home.
So when we were talking about doing our backyard and the cost that it was going to cost us
in order for us to implement all of the yards and kind of designs within, it was just astronomical.
If it was a home that I knew that Colin and I were going to be in forever, I wouldn't
even bat an eye, but this isn't our forever home and it's a lot of money.
So we have decided to kind of dumb down the plans and kind of do a stage one, if that
makes sense.
And we are not doing a pool, even though I would love to have a pool, we are possibly
going to be doing a pool and like a stage two on top of here in San Diego, there is
a two year waiting list for a pool to even put a pool in your home.
Like the trades business right now is just booming.
They can't keep caught up.
My husband included, they are months behind on jobs.
So with even a two year waiting list for a pool, we decided we're going to be putting
in some grass, dumbing it down a little bit, not spending as much money on our backyard
and just being a little bit more realistic.
It adds up.
If you have ever been in this situation where you're having to landscape a backyard, it
everything adds up.
It's just crazy.
So I'm going to show you what we are doing as of right now and what we have done thus
far.
It is a work in progress.
I'm going to be kind of updating you guys as this goes along.
Let's take you guys outside, show you what is going on with our landscaping and go from
there.
All right.
So here is the first progress update of the backyard.
We'll start with over here.
So we did have a temporary like concrete slab just to help with the dirt.
And they ripped that out yesterday because we're actually going to extend the concrete
pad basically all the way out here.
So we have a lot more of like an outdoor living type space for like a dining table and whatnot.
They have all of the walkways on this side of the house ready to be poured for concrete.
We have DG on this side.
We've just put writers trampoline over there temporarily, but that is the area that is
going to be for a mini horse and a barn.
And then what I'm most excited for is my garden.
So this has been something that I have wanted for a very long time.
So we're just waiting on the gates for this to be complete.
And then I'm actually going to be going to the nursery with my mom today to start getting
some plants on getting those planted for a summer and spring garden.
We put the garden furniture in here just temporarily out of their way so they can pour concrete,
but Colin has also ran electrical here so I can string ping pong lights and just make
it a really fun like little area.
On the hillside we are talking about possibly doing a vineyard just because that hillside
is so really unusable that that could be a really fun idea to kind of incorporate the
garden and whatnot and maybe add some citrus and some different type plants.
But that's the garden.
And then they brought in, as of right now, two mature olive trees.
This is 17 years old.
There's a guy in Temecula, California here in San Diego that has a whole orchard full
of mature olive trees from babies all the way up to 40 year old trees.
So they brought in one of the trees here.
And here's where things are changing.
So originally we were going to be doing a pool here, but with the cost and with the
waiting list of everything, we are going to be doing all this grass temporarily unless
we decide to be here longer.
And then kind of where that hill of dirt is going to be is a fire pit.
So they're going to be doing a concrete type wall with a floating wood bench and a really
cool fire pit right there.
And then we are also bringing in, kind of like right where that tractor is, another
mature olive tree right there.
So this is kind of the update as of right now, but things are starting to come along.
I'm just excited to get things going.
And then over there, they just put gravel for a parking pad, but they still got to clean
up the hillsides and lay concrete, do sidewalks.
So this is the backyard.
All right, and here is the front.
Sorry for the sound.
It is kind of windy out here, but here is our second olive tree.
Again, this is a very important aspect for me is bringing in really mature olive trees.
Again, they have the sidewalk laid for where the concrete is going to be going.
We're going to be doing steps leading directly out, and that we're going to be extending
the driveway kind of where that porter potty is and some plants over there.
But they have the hole ready to go, dug for this beautiful tree to be planted.
So that is the update on the front yard.
It's garden day, so we have all of our veggies.
Miss Rye's got her boots on.
We got our sticks.
So we're going to be planting a variety of different things.
So we have our stuff.
Are you ready to garden?
Yeah.
Yeah?
You excited?
Yeah.
Ryder's got her little tools in here to help mama.
You excited?
Yeah.
Okay.
You're doing so good, Toots.
Mommy loves having you as my helper.
Thanks, baby.
I like gardening.
You like gardening?
Yeah.
She's quite the helper.
Okay, we've made some big progress on planting, and this is what it's all about right here.
Miss Rye is playing on her trampoline.
Can you say hi?
Hi.
And mommy's finishing gardening.
All right, we are all planted.
This took Ryder and I all morning to do.
I had to do a little bit of research on which plants are companions and which you have to
avoid, because obviously I can't have one box designated to one certain thing.
So we have our mint here.
This is all different types of lettuce.
And then over here I have a mixture of cilantro, red, orange, and green bell peppers.
We have strawberries.
Dad is going to build a trellis.
I'm going to do sweet peas in the center.
And then I planted carrot seeds all the way along the edge here.
Over here is my tomato and basil box.
And then we have a cucumber.
This is a purple basil bush or blueberry bush in the back.
And then on the outside of the fencing here, I planted some sunflowers.
So hopefully they'll grow all the way up and just would be really, really beautiful.
A little bird feeder.
All right, guys, and that is going to be today's video.
I hope you guys enjoyed vlogging this time.
Like I said, I've kind of gotten out of the habit of vlogging, and I figured with all
the projects that are going on in my house, it'd be really fun to document what it is
that is happening here.
And I'll keep you guys in a loop on progression and whatnot.
But that is it for today's video.
I will see you guys in the next one.
Peace.
