Orphic Wallet by Lewis Le'Val. Live Review. Q and A.

Hello, welcome everyone to Real Magic Review, a live review I'm doing, a live review because I didn't post much this week that means I haven't got lots of comments but I will have got lots of comments of the stuff I did at the end of last week so we're doing them as well. But we are going to be reviewing Orphic Wallet from Louis Leval and the 1914. I do love a bit of 1914, they haven't released a shocker yet and I'm waiting, but maybe this is it, maybe this is the one we've been waiting for. So we'll talk about that in a minute. Another wallet has been as if we haven't got enough wallets. We've got a lot of leather in our drawers haven't we? That wasn't as it was planned but because there is no planning to this, as you may have already guessed after watching this for about 28 seconds. That wasn't, it was fine but I'm in a good mood today so uh and it wasn't last week so it's probably because nobody turned up. I mean you sensed it was going to be a shocker so sorry about that but it was a good one and people enjoyed it thoroughly and if you haven't watched last week's comments on comments have a look at it because and we're not we're doing comments today but for those of you who don't know we do comments on your comments every Thursday usually but I'm doing a live review but I showed the um performance performance me doing it demonstration of um eye candy the gross eye trick from Hanson Chen Productions uh Eric Ross and um and me doing it for my daughter who reacted in a very humorous way so have a look at that some comments from that your daughter's reaction was great from Stephen Reinhimer I think um I may have to try this out not sure if I have problems putting it in my eye I will say with eye candy it is hard it took it takes me it's better now but it took me a load of goes to get it in your eye it's not a pleasant process but if you kind of secretly enjoy that kind of thing which I do uh you'll be all right miss this slide we'll try harder next time I wet myself for your kids reaction so funny Gary S Lambert great performance uh D G Bailey J Bailey uh G um being known for doing eye candy is better than not being known thank you very much um uh there was one oh John um Graham enjoyed this Steve especially your performance and your daughter's reaction and thanks for mentioning my book that's stage by John Graham um Mr. Live Mexi-Mex we're the end of the moment I hope you well Maxine I hope you better um a lot of support for the show so thank you and I do hope you feel better I love your daughter's reaction she freaks she's even covering her ears which was tremendous so have a look at that and um a couple of comments from um yeah a lot of love for uh the peak deck which is great I get loads of stuff and I kind of sometimes don't have time to look at how it's doing out in the real world because I kind of live in this room basically uh and just lurk around on my own quite a lot at home so uh playing with magic tricks but a lot of love for the peak deck and it was good I'm glad there is because I thought it was really nice actually and it kind of reminded me a little bit of what we're talking about today because it uses a simple idea to create something quite powerful um I won't read them all out but just Gary H Lambert again this is a great bit of kit I've had it for a while now and got it after I saw David's positive review of it I adore the absolutely as Eddie points out it could be uh art and crafted but I've got a life to lead and better beer to drink so I sent Eddie the money instead I think that's right actually a lot of people do that they go well I could have made that myself well could you have you and if you haven't just buy it it's like me saying I should paint my bedroom I haven't in six years or something so I might have to accept that I'm gonna have to get a painter and decorator in uh there's something it's different knowing you can do something and knowing you will so I would say spend money it's good it's uh lots of love for it I won't read them all out um I know what you mean so Rob Jack said what would be the reason to writing anything on a card um limited use I kind of yeah and of course it doesn't suit everybody it's not a billet it's a playing card you can and I don't think I stressed it enough you can use a billet or business card and put it into the deck of cards and my and it for us it feels really weird to do that doesn't it we're kind of but if you've got a deck on the table and you've switched it in or anything and you've just done a load of card stuff and you're kind of going okay let's hide it let's put it somewhere where you can't see where I can't get to it and just almost like an afterthought you stick it in the deck of cards with the cards I think is quite a nice thing uh and I like the peak with it it's nice and again reminds me a little bit of what we're talking about today I have two of them um from Crawdini the first words I saw in this were Raymond in review I thought you were clubbing in Soho Chris not anymore Chris but um not that I would have been making make myself sound like I was lurking around there many years ago uh Mexi-Mex if this works the way I think it does I'm not sure how much use it would be not great for walk around as it takes up space that could be used for other stuff and for more formal stuff there are better options to hide what they are more than a fake deck but yeah again I think it's just preference some people are going to see that as as you see or hearing I really like it I like using it it does feel nice to use it feels relaxed it doesn't feel like one of these quick kind of and if you don't want a wallet it's a nice alternative so I think it really has its place um and as Magic Corner said nice review but I like using a wallet and absolutely and talking about wallets look at that I'm very good at this aren't I um I'm going to talk about wallet now Orphic uh by Louis Duval I'm allowed to show this I um I hassled D before this he's clearly very busy and I phoned him up and said can I show it and he said yes which is good and I know I'm a bit late to the party a few people have done this I do like to be fashionly late um and I think I only got it recently and I've had a good play with it and watch the downloads so do we need another wallet I always think not but every time someone comes out with one that I look at uh it it gives me something else the last one I looked at was Looch's Blink 2 wallet which I have in my pocket here um thuswise and I also use a shadow wallet all the time I usually so I've got like three everyday I've got four everyday carries now I've got because this is clearly going to be one of them I've got that I've got the blink I've got the shadow wallet which I love because of what it does they all kind of do different things which is kind of what you want it's not just a style thing now the shadow wallet has a a totally different working than than Looch's wallet it does more Looch says he with his thing he wants it to do one thing and he wants to be able to put that wallet down you can't see anything it's just a so I think they've all got merit and as as does this so first of all what is it well it's kind of three things really it is a peak wallet and the peak is a little bit different which I'll show you in a minute it is a switching wallet you can use the switch and the the orthic plus is a card to wallet wallet as well now you might think oh I definitely want that because I want to do card to wallet well maybe not because it's bigger and a lot of people want to carry a small wallet and if you're a mentalist and you're not a magician you're not really going to use the card to wallet stuff and what I like about this it ticks both boxes now I think Lewis and Dee used the smaller one this is one I've got here I am getting a plus which I'll show you in the next week or something if you want to but the smaller one I really really like it because again it looks like a wallet you would carry it's small it fits in your hip pocket as does the plus by the way and the nice thing about the plus is you can do a card to wallet in your hip pocket rather than having a jacket on so this is a kind of I'm just going to turn my apple watch on uh off because it's going to make noises and annoy me um so there's that they're both in your hip pocket but the the magicians that might want to look at the plus wallet which probably tells you why it's kind of sold out but don't necessarily think because it does more you're going to want to use it because I think this is really lovely the switch is used not just as you would expect it to be used as a himba style wallet and if you don't know what that is give it a google you'll be able to find out but it's used to aid the peak a lot of the time so I will say that the download on this is brilliant I really like watching Louis Laval he there's a he's got a manner that I can't quite put my finger on that just makes him really watchable he's like someone that really cares about what he does he talks about the fact that he's been using this for a long time and people have said you've got to release it I believe that he clearly has put a lot of work into this um and I really like watching him perform I really find a lot of mentalism quite dull because it's just I'm doing a thing and it's clever and a lot of magic when we know how it's done it you've got to have something else so I'll usually look at the comedy mentalist for for my own entertainment but with Louis I actually like watching him I think he's got a really nice manner he really believes what he does without being cheesy and I love the way he does readings and he used it really really good and a great teacher as well so he takes you through the basic workings of it which I will show you now I'm not going to show you how to do the peaks or anything that really isn't my place to do so I'm just going to clear some of the detritus that I've got around there um there you go so this is the wallet so it's nice and streamlined the the it's got the himba thing here so you've got and it's not like usually most himba wallets where it opens differently it's just there's one here which you won't really see basically you can put um how can I you can put a business card in there there or there so you can put different things in there and then basically you can switch so the idea is you can kind of if I remember rightly you can kind of switch as you're gesturing and stuff like obviously you're not going to do it like that but what that does it allows you to do more than one thing yes it allows you to switch something in and out but it also allows you to get a peak in this position so you're peaking some of them they can see what they think you've just put into the wallet and you're getting a peak that way so that gives it something else and we'll talk a little bit about what Craig Petty does with this he has like the second half of the download um which is the kind of card to wallet stuff and he uses that a lot in a very very different way so and again I'm not going to tell you exactly how he does but he used it to do a different thing so we've got the the himba part of it we've got the the peak bear bit now what's lovely about this and again I feel kind of wrong showing this but I've been told I can is that you've got this thing here which this is full of stuff right so the idea of getting a peak with that you can show that as you get a billet out so maybe you're you're getting a billet out of there you're getting a bit out of here you do this quite openly you're not hiding this and then they draw on it and then you put it in there and you're peak ready now there's a few um Lewis has a couple of things where of how to do that peak they're all very simple very easy some are using this himba thing to give the convincer but the one that I use is the first one which is you've got ages to pick that thing and it's really simple it happens everything's justified and he's very good at justifying every action there's none of this kind of have a quick look and carry on it's all kind of within as you're getting something out of the wallet or as you're putting something back in the wallet it all works and makes complete sense and that's what I want for a wallet now I don't need it because I can use a peak wallet and do it in the moment but for those of you that haven't done much peaking it's a good as I said about the shadow wallet I think there's a good slow kind of peak where you can take your time and get used to that idea of feeling really cheeky and doing it it does feel really naughty getting that peak when you're not used to it so it's got the peak it's got the the himba thing and there's loads of routines in all these books using routines that you won't find on the download that you can use for this and of course the plus one has the card to wallet so the let me just have a look at the oh yeah the the routines on it are we've got this daydream drawing dupe which is a basic drawing duplication but what's really good again is that Lewis puts these bits of scripting in which is kind of what you're getting yes we can just have a look at it and tell them what they've drawn but how do we make it how do we make it more convincing and he has this lovely stuff about daydreaming and not just thinking about it but using a daydream and when you say daydream it can sound a bit sort of soft and fluffy but it's great the way he does it and he kind of justifies that what he's going to do which is talk around the object and he gives you the scripting to use for that then he's got this double drawing dupe which is really good you get two people to draw but you use a really clever way of getting both drawings in it's a one ahead principle i really really like it it's really good um serial number divination which is fine i'm not a big fan of serial number divinations but he uses that himba uh thing in a really really clever way um and the padlock dream box where again not a massive fan of these tricks where you have loads of different keys and one of them opens your finger the one that they choose out of all the keys is the only one that works in the box but it uses the wallet in a very different way and the reason he's put it on there is to show it's not just about switching billets and doing the usual stuff we can actually use it for something very very different and that's only a personal thing by the way i know how strong those uh routines play when when they choose a key out of loads and that's the only one open because i've seen like um uh in the bizarre bath walk if you ever got a bath in in england they do the bizarre bath walk that noel does down there and it's just stunning and they've got and it goes down so well that trick where there's a 50 quid note in the thing and only one of the keys opens a 50 quid note it's brilliant so you can use all that for this and use the wallet for it um and yeah that's the routines that lewis does they're all the mentalism stuff and then you've got craig petty and what happened is they gave the wallet to craig at the london magic convention he went off and played with it and came out with some great great ideas and when i saw the titles of the ideas i kind of went well it's just a load of ways of doing card to wallet isn't it but actually it is but they're all very different i'm not going to go through all of them because it'd be gone but the look they're all no palming card to wallets using the the joyous thing of this wallet which is this load and he does it in a couple of ways some of them are more difficult than others but you can do a card to wallet in many different ways without palming but that's just as good i think when i see no palm card to wallet sometimes i kind of think this is going to be a bit shonky you're gonna have to misdirect really heavily what a couple of these really got me and i thought i don't know and then of course i thought and the way he did it was very very clever and again his explanations are brilliant loads of extras in it loads of or if you don't want to do this you can do this if you don't want to do this move that's a bit difficult like tilt you can do it with this way and i really enjoyed it and i think couple of them i'd like to try out there's a transpo card to wallet where he mixed it with a card transposition where the wallet changes place with the wallet that's the card that the card changes place with the card that's in this bit and then changes place to one inside the wallet but the really lovely routine on this which i think you could buy for a tenner just for that routine and you'd be really happy with it is this uh card under wallet where he takes a card on the box or card under glass routine uses the wallet for it and at the end the card is in the wallet so you've got the card keeps arriving under the under the wallet and then the deck's under the wallet and then the card's in the wallet i think it's a really good routine and that download again i always say this about the 1914 downloads they're a master class there are so many tips in this it's scripting of justifications and talking about justifications lewis has a bit at the end final thoughts and sometimes i don't watch the final thoughts because i think it's just going to be like well you know just a little roundup but he talks about justifying the idea of writing stuff down and i thought it was a really nice justification why would you write something down if you can read minds well because of this and it totally makes sense and again it shows that he thinks deeply about this stuff he doesn't just release stuff to release stuff which i think a lot of companies can be seen to do sometimes again i think i take this and i go i'm gonna use it because it's great i've performed with it a couple of times uh once to someone that knows about wallets and stuff and they kind of sussed out what might be going on but the point of these of course is we perform to people that don't know that you can get special wallets to do these kind of things so it's kind of the wallet becomes like an incidental way of putting the thing away so you can't see it or getting a billet out because that's where you keep the billets i think it's really really lovely i'm just going to check that i haven't uh missed anything it's simple um scripting ideas uh yeah everything it's great uh can i think of any negatives not really um no no they said you can use this for for a playing card but i would think actually you're going to want the plus wallet if you're going to do the car stuff if you're a mentalist i would go with this because it's really small and really really slim lined and um and lovely right let's have a look uh at this how you doing pratik good to see you purchased off it plus really love this very practical and great this is from brian um uh thinking behind everything they do yeah he loves to think behind everything they do i just put that down there and i do as well i think it's all brilliant i want to see their downloads i've got the downloads to watch uh lucy's downloads on revelations and stuff and i'm really looking forward and hi from the scottish highlands lucky man i bet it's lovely up there brian i'm very jealous i want to go there uh hi leonard how you doing pratik when is orthic plus going to be in stock i can't find it anywhere apart from the 1914 official website why is it not available from other magic dealers well a hat it will be because it's available through murphy's magic as well as in 1914 they did sell out i know of the orfic plus because of the card to wallet thing they will be getting more uh very soon so keep an eye on it and keep an eye on different dealers having it they are going to have it because murphy's are doing it uh the difference between orthic and the shadow wallet i've seen many asking that question okay the shadow wallet is i haven't got it on me um the shadow wallet is like a one single thing so if i look at it's very very different to this but it's one thing like that and there's no openings or anything like that so if you want that kind of streamlined thing and i would argue that the shadow wallet for the peak unless you do the peak they do um they teach on it which is so clever you kind of have to have it hidden you know i mean you have to there's a bit in it that you don't want people seeing so when you put it down you don't feel messing with this yes you've got the himba bit but a lovely thing about this is that you you cover it so this looks like there's nothing here all right so you're there and then you come up and do not don't do like that kind of work you need to do the thing which i haven't practiced or anything but the there's a kind of hidden aspect to the himba bit of this but it's very open there's nothing to see on the outside you can you can wave it about not that you want to but you can gesture with it and and there's really nothing to look at and don't forget you open it in front of them to get the billet out at the beginning so it's very open i would say that's the difference and the shadow wallet has the kind of multi-card thing in it the um the equivoque that you can do which this doesn't have so that has kind of that routine built in and it's it's just a lot smaller so if you want a small compact wallet yet again this is a an open up one so bifold is that what they call it or is that the yeah um you're gonna want uh on this so that's the main difference and this has this again the shadow wallet doesn't have this himba and and you've got the fact that this window you can show the notes in it and everything obviously let me just show you you've got this bit which is a nice convincer you know the fact that all this stuff's in there just gives just doesn't you don't think you'd be able to put anything in there and you know it's subtle because they wouldn't think that anyway but the fact you can open it you don't have to hide it when you get the billet out you can get it right out here go in with a billet there and and you've you've kind of been really open you've shown them everything so i i think that's the main difference and it's it feels like a very different thing uh that's from jasper uh how you doing good how'd you pronounce that guillaume is that how you say it one one one uh someone would be not happy with that pronunciation uh terry nice to see you um hey gary good to see you mate uh david prime 21 i have uh informant informa inform what uh what's the best effect for this saw petty's effect and it was way too long yeah don't forget and i know what you mean but i think that these longer effects can be can fit in certain situations but you can take one bit out of that so with a lot of craig's stuff his card to wallet stuff there was like a card being peaked and the card being shown and you can start putting stuff together from those routines i'm not sure they were too long because don't forget he would present them in a certain way and you can just you can cut a lot out if you want to make it a lot quicker you know instead of having the scripting stuff that he talks about what's the difference between a magician and a mentalist and all this stuff you just say right you have a look at that you choose one of them you don't have to go into all that so i think they can be chopped down if you want to uh waiting for eye candy on the way from chen yeah i can he's great fun let me know you get on with it uh my orthic plus came yesterday it's fantastic i'm very pleased with this but great i'm really glad people are liking this uh can regular orthic hold playing cards in its box it can apparently but you i think you when it's been worn in and again if you need to put one card in there and do some with it that's fine but you're not going to the orthic plus you can have packet tricks and stuff like that apparently so yes you can i wouldn't recommend it probably maybe if you want to stick one in there uh someone's put spammy on there uh i still haven't bought a wallet because every time i think i know which one i want to buy someone brings out a new one and everyone's excited about it right stefan i know and i would seriously say look at the effect is that an effect you want to do do you want to peak or do you want a card to wallet wallet you know orthic plus is great because it's got both um the load i would say for the orthic plus i've seen i haven't played with it but it looks very good looks very easy the the playing card again ends up in here uh face up or face down so you show it in there and they can get it out which is really really nice uh and it does a lot of stuff i haven't played with a lot of the wallets i'm not one of these people that has all the wallets i know alakazam have some great wallets and you know they do all the different stuff stealth assassin all those kind of things i haven't played with them so i have a look at the reviews and my feeling is the one that you choose you're going to like they're all pretty good i'd go with one you like the look of one that fits in with the kind of thing you're going to carry and one that holds in that i would say some of them don't hold a lot of stuff so if you if you carry a lot of stuff around i would go with something like the plus because it holds more stuff um if you're going to load the credit cards in there and stuff whereas the smaller ones like the yes they do hold credit cards like the shadow wallet things like that and lucci's wallet but not loads so go you know you look at the the peak note wallet as well from um uh from what's called secret tannery you know that holds a lot a bit more because again it's got more in it so again you might want to look at something like that or the his card to wallet the rebel wallet so they're all great you know you're going to be happy with whatever one you get because as long as you can do those routines uh you'll be all right but i recommend this because it's just got a lot of different stuff you can do i have a prediction effect with uh billets on the orfic facebook group ah right okay the prediction ends in the wallet and it looks like you wrote it the day before brilliant again the facebook group there's going to be so much stuff on there isn't there i just wish i had time but when you're reviewing loads of different stuff you i just want to get into it and learn all the different ways of doing stuff and you can but um and facebook group is good does it take time to break in uh from um this is that um no not really you can do it straight away it will break in more and he does say that you know but when you put the bill you tend to put it sticking out i did find that when i put it right in it no that's the wrong one when i put it right in here um i did kind of want to get it back out i got sort of stuck a little bit then you don't do that you put it in so it's sticking up like that usually anyway so no i mean i can use that straight away so it'll break in after a while but i think you're going to be able to use it straight away um fps wallet by brent braun or orthic plus which one is better for cards wallet someone else might have to have a look at that because i cannot uh i haven't played with the fps wallet if all things had a card index like you had a wallet it wouldn't yeah yeah and i do think yes but i think that once you start putting then it's going to start bulking out and i think that what they're trying to do is just keep them as slimline as possible so you can put your own stuff in there so it can be your everyday carry or edc um or you know i mean if you start loading too much in there and what's that routine um that they put out that i reviewed with iris see that's i think once you've got that and once you've got something else and something else you start bulking up a bit and i think that's really good that iris thing i really want to uh what kind of mentalism routines would you recommend doing with this well i think the ones that lewis says on it the the peaks with the day the j dream one and the the um two-person peak i think is really strong really really clever so i think you'll there's loads just with those two to play with the other stuff like i said not really my kind of thing um but it shows you what different things you can do with it and it'll start getting you ticking like craig you know craig took this away and just realized you can do all this stuff so i think and as craig said you can take some of the magic card to wallet stuff and start adapting that to mentalism with business cards if you want especially the load he does with this it's loading the card into the wallet it's really clever i don't want to do anything from leonard uh with peaks would this wallet be good introduction to mentalism with wallets yeah i think so if you don't do anything with peaks i think the peak is really easy it's really slow um something like the peak note while it takes a bit more of a knack it's again it's easy but you've got to get that peak quite a little bit more quickly i would say um and when you're looking at drawing duplication it's good to have a good old look at that picture and it gives you that time as does the one um with the um the shadow wallet do you prefer this or the nexus wallet haven't used the nexus wallet i know i should uh thanks for the great reviews thanks max um i want to i want to have a look at the nexus wallet but i haven't got that one so i didn't get one to review uh where did they get this is from um oh my gosh well vanishing doom don't know what's oh i'm having a mental block someone help me gosh i'm going mad oh boston bosh yeah god you know when you have a mental block and stuff you know that doesn't boston bosh uh i did a review on these mats and they're they're lovely so have a look at my review have a search for it uh different ones that they do and they're very very beautiful not cheap but if you're gonna you know be using it for certain things well worth it i absolutely love them and this is the wool one here the red one but i've got got a couple of different ones oh boston bosh stephanie there you go thanks mate um thanks jasper lesson for the facebook page info yeah i love it when you all help each other oh that's a 20 minute one wasn't it no it wasn't it was a 27 minute one well done the same with it um if you got any more questions i'm not going anywhere uh here we go card to wallet on orthic plus no card to wallet is easiest move than fps wallet and the best thing about fps is the black art principle for card and wallet i would use orthic all the time for card to wallet great yeah um and again it's just preference in it you know i i i think my favorite load was the first card to all i had no not the really first one because it's some really rubbish one that was like about that big you know it's gonna be but um i really like the loads out of all the loads because it doesn't use a feed i mean just straight in and you'd have to faff around and it's fine but i haven't got a jail well one because again to me i don't i'm not as keen on the style of them but i might have a look at them again because there's something beautiful when i'm on stage about that load it's just quick um and again you know i've got like i said we've got four everyday carries now i'm gonna have loads so there you go and then i'll take one out and realize the cards are in the other one and yeah it's it's not good it's all fit more suited for magicians or magicians i would say mentalists but then again you got that card to wallet thing haven't you so yeah but i'd get both because don't forget even as a i'm a magician i don't see myself as a mentalist but i do pick stuff all the time you know people say you can't mix it i think you absolutely can because people love it i think it's it's um it's super strong so what this does it gives you that choice and choice is good isn't it and it's not like it does too much they've still limited to a couple of things but again don't forget the hember part of this is going to serve you for other routines when you want to switch stuff in and out just use it as a hold out really really clever um that big sounds more like jumbo card to backpack yeah hey that'd be quite a good routine wouldn't it we're thinking that's creativity that's where it comes from right so your job for next week is to come up with a jumbo card to backpack routine and then show you i wrote that on my notes i didn't write that on my second load of notes on my big bit of paper there yes there's a pdf and that's loads of extra stuff on it thank you i'm going to go through all that because it'll take me another half an hour and you will leave me and just walk away but um yeah john thank you so much i'm going to put that on there uh because i think it's so easy to overlook pdfs because we look at the videos and we go right i've got all that information and then you look at there's some real gold a little bit like the one of the peaks in here lewis says um you put you might you probably won't use this but it just shows you another way of doing it i think it's brilliant i think you probably will i would and it uses the hint so when sometimes when creators play stuff down a little bit or put stuff on a pdf it makes you feel like oh maybe i won't watch that but sometimes you'll see something that really suits you and i actually really love that peak that lewis says that about the the idea of using the himba the switch bit um to get your peak and making really really convincing i think it's lovely um thanks for review steve definitely gonna look into the plus yep
