[0:04] A rescued dog turned police mascot has become one of Brazil's most beloved furry Internet sensations.

[0:10] Corporal Oliveira, the police mascot, was picked up in 2019 by police officer Cristiano Oliveira in Rio de Janeiro, who found him hungry and injured near the Military Police station where he works.

[0:48] The dog - geared in police uniform including a shirt, a toy gun and sunglasses - has become Rio de Janeiro's Military Police's 17th battalion official mascot, patrolling alongside his human and even checking driver's I.D.s.
