I
Look so professional right now. I'm not I'm wearing my pajama bottoms. I was feeling really unmotivated to
Be healthy and therefore I was feeling really unmotivated to make this video
I thought I might as well just sit down and talk with you guys and be honest about
My own health journey number one my diet since the beginning of this year has just been really bad
I never cook at home. I pretty much always eat out or eat. Whatever my mom cooks for me. Whatever foods available
I'll eat a lot of processed instant food
number two, wait, what number two as far as exercise goes I
Just don't exercise at all anymore
Nada wherever you are on your own health journey. This video is supposed to kind of motivate you
I wrote out a little plan for you
That's even doable for me to get yourself back into shape and to feel energetic again to feel alive
Let me walk you through the week starting off with Sunday
Sunday is probably going to be the most physically easy because you don't really have to do much
But you do have to kind of wake yourself up
It's about becoming aware of where you are now and imagining yourself
Picturing yourself of where you actually want to be and I did this by
Vlogging it and saying it out loud
It really did wake me up and make me realize that I want to change
Whether you write down your goals or you speak them out in front of a mirror
Whatever you have to do Sunday is a day that you sit yourself down and get real with yourself
Begin writing out a plan of what you're gonna do the following week to change and lucky for you
You don't really have to write out a plan because I kind of wrote one out for you
But you can adjust it change it to whatever way that suits your life
All right, and more than writing out your goals. What I did was I wrote down
Currently how I was feeling versus ideally where I want to be and how I want to feel
Monday's the day that I went grocery shopping
Hopefully on Sunday after writing out a plan you kind of figure out some recipes that you want to try out for the week
I want to try at least one new recipe a week one new sweet dish and one new savory dish
So I went to the grocery store and I picked up some detox ingredients that I will talk about later on in the video
Tuesday Tuesday's the day that I wanted to focus on food when you're first starting off creating this healthy menu for yourself
My biggest tip is to learn
Three just three recipes that are like your go-to
Recipes that you love that are easy to make and you'll crave it. It's also
Healthy for you. Just learn three three is not that difficult. You don't need to buy any cookbooks. You don't need to hire a chef
There's literally so much
inspo on
Pinterest so many tutorial videos on how to cook whatever on YouTube
I think the real problem is I get kind of overwhelmed on where to start actually more than there's like nothing to cook
There's actually just too much to cook
So anyway, I wanted to include the three meals that I learned to cook that I love number one is a kale shake
Kale shake is perfect for this detox week because if you just replace one meal with a kale shake
I feel like you're good. Like you're making progress, bro
If I could down a kale shake for the day
I feel like I could conquer the world eat whatever else I want in the day and it won't matter because I had a kale
shake in the morning there are
so so so many great benefits to this deep leafy green that I'll just
Boom, I feel like kale is so hype that people just grew numb to the fact that it really is hyped for a reason
It's so good for you. And sometimes when I don't feel like having salad for the day
I could just drink my salad
I'm currently trying to learn my favorite kale shake recipe if you're not a big kale person
Whatever way you can try to find a way to just implement more greens into your diet
Celery is also an amazing vegetable for detoxing also for helping you poo and it's great for your skin other greens
Such as watercress spinach, whatever you can just try to dump it into your blender drink it up and chug that
Okay, it's gonna leave you feeling fuller for longer. Your body's gonna be like, whoa
you're feeding me with so much goodness and
Hopefully even if it tastes yuck in the beginning
Eventually that yuck will turn to yum once your taste buds start to crave it
The second meal that I learned to cook was soba. Soba is so easy
So simple but so good and it takes the same amount of time to make soba as it does
Instant ramen noodles and my biggest guilty pleasure is instant ramen noodles. So many times
I'm like, I want instant ramen noodles
Now I have a backup plan have a backup plan for your favorite
junk foodie cravings to make soba you just cook the noodles which is made out of buckwheat and it's actually
Really healthy for you. The Japanese consider it a superfood. I don't know about that, but
It's good and you just dip it in the noodle base
You could add whatever toppings that you want
And honestly, I have the dry noodles the noodle base and green onions in my kitchen at all times
So it's always available to me and the last meal that I learned which is a go-to because I pretty much
Always have eggs in the fridge
eggs and random vegetables
Omelets, I used to not be a huge omelet person
But I realized how simple and quick and delicious they are and you don't really have to try too hard
You literally just crack a few eggs chop up whatever vegetables whatever you want throw it in the pan
Omelet and it's so customizable so I could change it up every day. Whatever. I want to throw in there avocado mushroom peppers
It's so simple
So I don't think you need to overthink it, especially if you're just getting into cooking
I have a terrible habit of eating out a lot. So even just replacing one meal a day with something healthy is
Good on top of learning three go-to recipes to start off with I'd also recommend having three
Go-to places to eat out
the reason why I say this is because a lot of times when I just really don't feel like cooking and I have to go
Out to eat. I need to have options available that are healthy or even before going out to eat with your friends
Take a look at the menu on Yelp and see what healthy options are available. Just being prepared is a huge step Wednesday
Wednesday it's time to get moving. This is the part of the video where I'm just gonna sound like a
Humongous hypocrite because I still don't exercise and I'm gonna like rant a little bit
Okay, or just I'm gonna be honest with you guys
I still don't exercise and I don't really plan on making exercise a priority at this
Point in my life. I eventually would love to and I definitely see the benefits of exercising
I used to exercise pretty consistently five to six times a week and it was a very pretty I was Wow
I was in shape. I felt good. I felt fit and
Strong and
Motivated so I know that exercise is amazing and I'm not trying to say
Anything else but at the same time just because you don't go to the gym
Five times a week even three times even at all if you don't go to the gym at all
It does not mean that you're not healthy gyms didn't even used to be a thing
Of course, I want to be more active. I want to have more stamina
I know that I've definitely gone way out of shape. Whatever consistent exercise I've done in the past are my muscles still there?
I don't know probably not I feel weak right now
That's not a good feeling either
but I just know that when I begin exercising that that is a
Commitment that I don't know if I'm ready for because I easily get out of shape
I just feel like there's a lot of pressure to be a gym girl
But that's not the only way to be fit
Like I said, I used to be very consistent with it to the point where it was a little bit obsessive
I used to see it as punishment
I also would be very black and white with the way that I viewed food
Eventually that made me really unhappy and because of that I forced myself to take a break from that world
But when I'm ready, I do want to go back to prioritizing being fit
Maybe I really should start exercising. So for this detox week, I didn't really want to prioritize exercise
Just because if you're like me and you've been eating like crap
And if you just don't exercise at all this point
Then it can be very overwhelming to try to get your diet together and to try and exercise
I personally would prioritize your diet first
And then once you're ready slowly start to incorporate more activity and movement into your life
It doesn't have to be going to the gym. So for me after not exercising for over half a year
I decided to just do some yoga. Okay with my girl Adrienne
I've done a lot of her yoga videos in the past and I just love the chill vibes
And I literally just kind of sat there breathing and being like whoa
Yoga is a thing and it not only relieves my body and just kind of makes me very mindful of it
But it also allows me to relieve stress and to be still and that is a hard thing to do
Sometimes Thursday Thursday is a day that I wanted to talk about drinks and detox drinks
so I was hesitant to put detox in the title because I don't really like associating the word detox with
Health because I'm not trying to promote a juice fast or like a crazy detox diet as you can see in this video
It's really not anything extreme
As I said, the kale shake is an amazing detox drink to replace a meal with but here are some other ones that I thought
Would really boost this detox experience
So number one is ACV if you don't know about the ACV craze, I'm talking about apple cider vinegar
I've tried apple cider vinegar the Bragg's one in the bottle and this is where you add like two teaspoons of it into
Water and it's super acidic and vinegary and weird. That was kind of torture
I didn't really like that experience my personal favorite way of intaking ACV is through capsules
Versus the actual drink maybe it processes in your body differently, but this is just much more convenient. I don't have to chug down
Vinegar and I'm pretty sure it works the same way
This is in some cute aesthetic little packaging, but you can also get it on Amazon in
normal
Packaging and ACV I recommend taking it before meals because it's gonna help you to feel fuller
The second drink to take is when you're having cravings in between meals and you want something a little snacky
But you know, you're not really hungry and you just need to find a way to wait longer until your next meal chia seed water
This will also help you to poo, but it's also a fun way to drink water just because it's a little jelly
Textures in your mouth try not to get it all stuck up in your teeth
But you know, you just basically put a spoonful of chia seeds into water
Let it soak up and get jelly-like this is gonna help you to feel fuller
It's gonna keep you hydrated and they're just gonna help you curb your cravings in between meals. The last detox drink is
Lemon water. I recommend drinking this with hot or lukewarm water people like to drink this in the morning
I think it's also great to drink this after a meal to help you to digest anything warm and soothing
After a meal, I feel like is good to detox your body
Maybe I'm making this up. I actually am but I'm assuming it's true
This is why I like to have a stash of tea bags in my pantry
So that after a meal I could have something like peppermint tea any sort of decaf tea
I like to have after a meal instead of going for like ice cream
I feel like ice cream is the opposite of hot tea because it like freezes the meal you just ate and gets stuck up in
Your system. This is just a theory, but doesn't that sound kind of accurate?
Friday Friday is a day that after this whole week of eating a bit healthier and
Trying to get back on track. Maybe now you're ready. Maybe now you're mentally ready to take a test
Yes a test a test. Yes a test
Okay, I need to stop saying that the actual idea of a fitness test is quite traumatizing. It takes me back to
PE and junior high let's not try to think of it as a test
This test is another way to just get real with yourself to figure out where you stand
How you've actually been and I'm gonna be honest. I have not taken this test yet because I'm scared
I'm really scared and it's been raining and I've been procrastinating it because I don't want to run a mile
Okay, but that's the first step is to run a mile
I used to go running like every single day when I was in Japan and Korea
I don't know what happened to me, but use an app. I personally love the running app
Literally, it's called running and track how long it takes for you to run
one mile
Next is push-ups your upper body strength
Try to figure out how many push-ups you can do until you literally just can't go anymore
don't go until like you're dying, but you just know you're done and your form is lacking and you're compromising and that's
You'll just know when you need to stop doing the push-ups
You could do half push-ups or if you're gonna go for it do the full push-up
Next is that lower body strength squats
It's these simple exercise movements that are really good for your body. You don't need any equipment
But it's a good way to kind of measure
How in shape you are so again do as many squats as you can until you reach your limit
And lastly is the plank and this is to test how strong your core is
Try to hold plank position for as long as you can see how you feel
Maybe write this down so that when you take this test again
You could see your improvement because this will say a lot more than whatever a number on a scale will say it's raining today
But I will take this test soon. It's like a doctor's appointment
Like I've been avoiding it, but I know I need to do it. Okay, I will I think it'll be interesting
I might do a whole video on like actually getting in shape again because I miss it. I miss it so much Saturday
Congratulations, you've reached the end of the week. It is Saturday. You've been working so hard
I wanted to bring up Saturday just to mention that if you slipped up, it's okay
You know, I used to not believe in cheat days. I used to not believe in everything in moderation
I thought that was all BS, but now I get it. I really get it because looking at my own lifestyle
I know that my life will never be perfect in terms of my diet or
My workout routine things are always gonna pop up. You're gonna get busy
You're gonna be tired some days not to say to give up on those goals
But it's also important to just give yourself a break like that's what Saturdays are for Saturdays are my personal play days
So I'll just go out discover new places to eat and not take it all so seriously
So along with the three meals that I learned to cook I also give myself
three cheat meals throughout the week where if I go out with friends and I eat something that's not necessarily like
Healthy, it's okay
I give myself the freedom and three might sound like a lot three might sound like a little but for me
I need that freedom in order to
Sustain myself and also to not punish myself because a perfect healthy diet just doesn't exist
So there you go. There is your weekly plan set and ready for you
